These are adorable. X and P would probably love them, but I cringe at seeing that many pieces. Rocktopus and Magnatiles are already ruining my life. I haven't even opened the rocktopus yet. The kids are not as into it as I thought they would be. I’m a little disappointed. They think they are living their best life with a popcorn maker, gumball machine, and cotton candy machine in the playroom right now.

Yikes.. apparently an employee at my sister's pedi didn't realize she had TB and gave it to a patient. Now all patients, parents, sibs, ect who have been there between March 2019 and now all have to get tested. Yikessss.

IDK, I ask Tim sometimes like “is that a Colorado thing?” But I can see how if I asked someone from the South “is that a Mississippi thing” it wouldn’t go over well. I could be reading more into it, but maybe it’s a bit because in a general sense, Americans are thought to be a little ethnocentric? So it’s possible that this would sound like an unintentionally condescending question when it’s directed at anyone from another country? Or maybe I’m just not on track at all. Shrug. I honestly have never cared if anyone asked me- is this a southern thing/Louisiana thing. Never. I just answer and keep it moving. But I am very breezy so 🤷🏽♀️.

Not flashcards, jewels , but these are still really fun for Charlie to play with. Learning Resources Alphabet Acorns Activity Set, 78 Pieces, Visual & Tactile Learning Toy, Ages 3+ www.amazon.com/dp/B01N6L9NKL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_lvFkEbRCJP9SRHe also still really loves the Alphablocks show on YouTube. Actually both he and josie will still ask to watch it. These are adorable. X and P would probably love them, but I cringe at seeing that many pieces. Rocktopus and Magnatiles are already ruining my life. magnatiles are so frustrating, they get so mad they cannot carry around their creations. they have fun building, try and bring to to me to show, it falls and crashes then there is crying. Every single time.

Super random question, but what rooms do you all have garbage cans in? MH is a weirdo (I think) who would like one in every room, but I keep us limited to the kitchen, the bathrooms, and the office. He keeps trying to put one in our room but I don’t want it there because I feel like if you have something to throw out walk it to the bathroom or if it’s too big, walk it downstairs to either the outside garbage cans or the kitchen. No Mr. guster. No garbage can in bedrooms. We are the same and keep them in bathrooms and kitchen ETA: I realized it was guster who posted. Taps is crazy and sometimes gets the avatar pics wrong.

We have them in the kitchen, all the bathrooms, master bedroom and right now during cold season in the living room next to the table with the tissues. The bedroom one isn’t frequently used, mostly just for tissues. ETA: also a tiny one in the laundry room for lint.

My other aunt and uncle have a 9,000 sq ft house. They love to entertain and it looks like a hotel. Giant bar, huge full outdoor kitchen, ect. They also have housekeepers. When we go over there they typically have bartenders, caterers, ect. It's definitely not the life I live haha

So I had B's conference last night. I am concerned that he is not up to where he should be. The teacher acknowledged that he was a bit behind but said most of the class was (she was out on Maternity leave till November and the sub was... not great). She believes he can catch up and suggested that I do flashcards with him. It's mostly the alphabet he is behind on. She thought it would be helpful for me to find something S could do with him (she taught S and knows his personality). Anyway, I'm online looking at flashcards. Any that y'all liked? For reference, he'll be 3.5 in 2 weeks. Well now I need to know if H can recognize all of the letters. Lol. I know he recognizes the letters in his name. Each week at school they work on a different letter. Hmmmm. I definitely feel like I worked with M more on this stuff than I ever have with H. I'll need to make more of an effort. I tried when I got home. He only recognized B for his name and none of the others. S was a very different kid but he already knew all the letters pretty well by this point. I'm concerned b/c he is supposed to start K in 1.5 years just a month after he turns 5. I feel he's already behind and he will be the youngest in his class so I want to do what we can to help him. But we have already discussed the very real possibility that we will have to hold him back. He's just such a young 3 year old.

We have 2.5 and it's plenty. Another one would be fine but I can't see a need /desire for more than that with a small family. Obviously with a bigger family, or if you had tons of out of town guests, it'd be nice to have more. But sometimes, around here at least, I think a lot of people just equate bigger with better and that's silly to me. I'd rather have nicer things/better car/more vacations, etc than a giant, unused house. Yes. So many houses I see for sale are practically empty except for a couch and TV and beds, nothing on the walls. It would depress me to live like that long-term just to have the "right" address. I want the happy medium. I do like a separate bath for overnight guests. We had that at our last house and I miss it. Right now the guests and kids share and while it's only a few times/year, it's not my favorite. We have a half bath off the laundry room (which is weird). Only us and the kids use it, I would not send a guest in there. I think it was a 'maid's potty', which is common in older homes here. That is the one reason I really wanted this house, we got a third whole bath for guests. Our parents are always visiting and I disliked having to share with the kids. I was really looking for just a 1/2 bath, but this is much nicer.

Now that Cadence is doing sight words I just made my own with the words her teacher said they would learn that year. Just bought the different colored index cards and made them from that, so that could be an option too.
I'm going to buy some. I'm looking at these b/c I think he might like the placing of the letter component. linkBut it might be a fun project for S to make flash cards for B. He's loving reading and writing. And loves to try to "teach" B

Thank you wineallthetime I feel that sometimes I have unrealistic expectations. L and B would be in the same K class so that makes me feel like maybe he is more on track.

guster I'm team Weirdo I keep wastebaskets in all bedrooms and baths, the laundry room, under DH's desk, and obviously a larger trash can in the kitchen. My mom always kept them in bedrooms so I guess that is "normal" to me. DH's mom does not have one in her guest room, and it drives me crazy when we're there and I have to leave the room to throw something away, haha. eta: our bedroom and bathroom trash cans, and the one under DH's desk, are all more 'decorative', if you can call a wastebasket decorative, lol. Only the ones in the kitchen and laundry are more 'industrial' (the stainless kind). Not sure why, but I was not expecting this answer from you. I would have never thought you kept wastebaskets in each room, but the “decorative” ones makes sense.

It used to be mandatory testing for my hospital system, but maybe 5 years ago they changed the rules that you only have to get tested if you’re displaying symptoms or have been exposed.

The backseat of my car is apparently Cadence's trash can. Does that count? My entire car is pretty much the kids' trash can. This made me literal LOL. My kids think so, too, and I am constantly telling them get it out of my car. I go back and forth between getting something to use as a trash collector in the back seat.

jewels, don't underestimate that 1.5 years. Cadence learned a lot from 3-5. She had no letter sounds and was missing quite a few letters at the beginning of 3.

The bathroom ones are more decorative, although they do still have lids. The one in the kitchen is a regular old stainless steel. So is the office one, but much much smaller and under a desk.

My entire car is pretty much the kids' trash can. I do not keep a neat car. It's something that drives MH nuts about me, but if you get in my car, you have to move aside a week's worth of Dunkin Donuts wrappers/receipts, random papers I've picked up along the way, old toys from the kids, etc. MH brings every last scrap from his car into the house every time he enters it. Anyway, apparently S takes after MH b/c he will randomly get upset I don't have a garbage bag in the car, or if we buy something at Target for him, he'll empty it in the car and hand me the bag and say "here, so you can use this as a garbage bag." Also Literal LOL at S’s insistence about the car trash. Kids are funny.
