My hold on The Great Alone is in transit to the branch for curbside pickup, so that's exciting. I still need to read the two Liane Moriarty books I still have loaned from the library- What Alice Forgot and The Husband's Secret. I am happy to have more reading time this weekend. What Alice Forgot was quick and I believe The Husband's Secret was too! I have read and loved what alice forgot but not husbands secret!

I finished The House in the Cerulean Sea and adored it - 5 stars and made me feel good. I hugged it when I finished. Read a graphic novel called Something is Killing the Children, it's a horror one and I quite enjoyed it, I will be picking up the next one for sure. I think I'm going to start my spooky reads, either with Mexican Gothic or Rebecca. Maybe Cirque Beserk, we will see lol I love love loved The House in the Cerulean Sea. It was my only 5 star book this year so far I think. I have made so many people read it. I adored his gentle wit. It was so sweet and funny without trying too hard. And unrelatedly, add me to the Summer Sisters list. $2.99 on kindle right now (said it was $24 off!) so I bought it.

I guess I’m reading all of Erik Larson’s books because they are interesting and no wait list. I returned Middlesex because I couldn’t get into it and felt bad that many people were waiting for it from the library. I really like Erik Larson! Devil in the White City and The Splendid and The Vile are both great.

I need a book club suggestion for tonight! We did The Nightingale last month an giver of stars before that. And while I loved both, maybe something a little more lighthearted this time? My sister is a nicholas sparks kind of girl and she wants to kill me for making her read nightingale LOL. Def NOT nicholas sparks, but somewhere between that and Kristin Hannah? Any of Jasmine Guillory's books (technically a series but don't have to be read in order). Get A Life, Chloe Brown. The Kiss Quotient (gender-reversed Pretty Woman).

I am so excited about this Should I suggest Firefly lane to my book club?!
Especially when it is going to be a series.
Yes but the ending isn’t light hearted if that’s what you are going for

She is really a damper to my bookclub!

donnameagle, Daisy Jones and The Six is also going to be a movie or series soon (I forget which). It wasn’t an emotional read. Bringing Down the Duke is a historical romance that is light on both...easy and fun.

I just finished Piranesi from Susanna Clarke. I didn't enjoy it as much as Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell but I did enjoy it.

I’m reading You Had Me at Hola, it’s pretty good. If you’re into sex scenes, it definitely has that.

Yes! It was great! Not super light but also not nearly as heavy as the Nightingale. The sequel is a bit heavier.

What should I start tonight (now that I finished both Paradise books)- What Alice Forgot, or Where the Crawdads Sing (assuming I make it to the library to pick it up; which I should)?

My last quarter book club reads are The Family Upstairs, East Coast Girls, and Anxious People. I have heard really good things about The Family Upstairs and Anxious People. I had a hold lapse on the Family Upstairs, but I do want to try to read it eventually. Please report back!

Is anyone planning a special read for banned book week next week? I’ve been wanting to reread Brave New World so I think I’m going to go ahead and make that my next book.

I haven't decided yet.

I finished Daisy Jones and the Six audiobook today, and my next one is David Chang's Eat a Peach. I love him, and devoured his series on Netflix, so I am stoked his book is finally out!
Plus if you guys want a good IG follow, his baby is freaking adorable, and he posts videos of the baby a lot.

((I’ve been struggling for years to get my mojo back))
Really enjoyed Beach Read, someone recommended it in this thread. Thanks!

I’ve been lurking this thread all summer and have got some good book recommendations. I’ve recently read the Jessica Simpson biography, Love Lettering, The Alice Network, Party of Two and Royal Holiday. I stayed up way too late last night and finished Sarah J Maas’s new book House of Earth and Blood. It’s was really good, I have a serious book hangover. I’m looking for my next book to read. If you like SJM, I highly recommend Jennifer Armentrout’s Blood & Ash series. The world building in the first book is a touch slow, but then I fell in love. The 2nd book just came out: Thanks for the recommendation! I put it on hold but my library only has the first book.

Recent reads for me include: The Starless Sea Daughter of Moloka’i This is how it always is The family upstairs The Silent Patient Charlie Hernandez and the League of Shadows
All of these are highly recommended. I’m currently reading the sequel to Charlie Hernandez (the castle of bones) and have The House on the Cerulean Sea up after that.
