Tell me what if anything hangs on the wall above your crib. I was going to hang a fabric bunting there but I saw the honeycomb wall and shelves and like it alot. Wasn't sure if the shelves would be considered a hazard, obviously I would have to be picky about what was on them for awhile. As long as I keep the the shelves and crib far enough away from one another for the kid to try and climb I should be ok, right?

laurensc927 we have garland with stars above baby's crib at the moment. We will move them as soon as baby can roll over just in case. We didn't have anything over DS' crib except a mobile that we moved as soon as he could roll over.

laurensc927, I think shelves would be better aesthetically and safety wise over a dresser or changing table. We had framed pictures over DS's crib, but they were higher than he could reach and fairly lightweight if there was an issue.

AnnPerkins that's what I was thinking, I may forgot the shelves and just don't honeycomb painted pattern since it's a large space to fill. We'll see!

laurensc927, Yeah I think the shelves would look better over a dresser. We have canvas prints of DD1's newborn photos over her crib. They are out of reach, and super light if they did fall. I'm thinking of doing something with her name for DD2's crib.

Help me pick a rug? Here are the 2 front runners: The below pic shows the paint colors, how the wall will be painted (using the teal, gray, and white). Dresser is orange. Curtains and gray and white striped, and the glider is plain gray. I'm going for fun, bright, clean, MCM. I'm also open to any other rug suggestions! Concern is that rug #2 is overwhelming. Thoughts.

I do prefer rug #2 fancy, but I could possibly see it being overwhelming. Can you (or did you) see them in person? That might help you decide one way or another.

fancy - are they easily returnable? If so, you could try each one out once the room is painted. FWIW, I like #1 best but think #2 is cute as well...aka, I'm no help at all!

blabbermouth, I've seen #1 in person, it's IKEA. So I know I like it. #2 I'm not sure if I could track down in person, and am worried it's a bit on the thin side. bethers, they would be fairly easy to return. IKEA is a 3 hour trip for us, but near DHs parents, so we could purchase and return if needed, but not ideal. #2 is from Amazon/Prime, so I think it would be easy to return.

I like #1, fancy. #2 is too matchy-matchy for my taste. I can't wait to see it all together!

fancy I like #2. Are you doing a pattern on the wall like in the picture (the polka dots)? If so, I'd stick to a solid for a rug, otherwise it may be too much going on. Personally, I'd do no pattern (the polka dots) and go for rug #2. OR I'd use the orange color for the polka dots and pick a solid color rug. What color is the flooring in the room?

grumpycat, we were planning on doing the polka dots, but maybe in an alternative shape? Like X or triangles. Flooring is currently darker gray carpet. Walls are all gray (the color in the paint swatches I posted). Using orange for the dots is a great idea!

fancy I like #2 but I can see it being overwhelming. I would probably go with #1 considering what else you have going on. Either way it sounds like it's going to look great!

I washed all the stuff we have from DS and my mom helped me organize it in the nursery closet. We don't have room for a dresser but I think this will work just need to get rods for the hanging part. The pack n play will be moved to our family room closer to baby's due date.

Nice grumpycat! I think either a dresser or a closet is fine, we are using most of the closet for other stuff, so clothes will be in a dresser. Or nursery has stalled out. Need to wait to move some stuff out of it to finish it off, hang art etc.

We're going to start painting today. We just finished washing the walls and patching a few holes. Once that putty is dry, we'll head in to get at least one coat of paint up today. Before pic:

Before and after of the paint. The colors aren't drastically different, but this is a much truer gray and less blue than we had. I can't wait until our furniture comes in!

WTF. Why are crib skirts so expensive? No shit! And two years ago I had THE hardest time ever finding just a plain white crib skirt. Everything had a stupid stripe or pattern. Annoying.

WTF. Why are crib skirts so expensive? It's obscene. And I can't even find one I would consider forking the $ over for. So... I'll be making mine. Haha.
