Happy Friday!
We have X’s IEP today and I just want to get it over with so we know the plan. My last conversation with the team doing his report involved a difference of opinion over which school he would attend and whether or not he needs an aide.
They still want to send him on a bus, across town, and not give him a 1:1 paraprofessional.
I don’t feel good about putting a three year-old on a bus, sending him to a school different than his siblings, and having a child with feeding difficulty who is nowhere near potty-trained being without an aide.
So, stay tuned, I guess.

cagoldi How are the kids adjusting to the changes between you and P? And how are you emotionally holding up?

Oh hell no, vino. Poor kid. Is is the same kid(s) each time? I know they won’t name them individually but can they at least say whether or not there is a consistent problem with certain people?

cagoldi How are the kids adjusting to the changes between you and P? And how are you emotionally holding up? X and P are great. They don’t seem to have any idea things have changed. They are young enough that I think they won’t have too much trouble. Atticus has been giving some attitude and occasionally getting mad, then telling us he feels sad that Dad doesn’t live with us anymore. So, it’s a little heartbreaking but I think he’s managing better than expected, and I think if he’s talking about his feelings that is a positive. I’m doing okay. Feeling the time crunch and financial stress for sure, but still feeling like this is the right decision. ❤️

This year for the first time ever, our school made 3 k classes instead of 2 and there are only 17 kids in each. I’m so happy because DS1 had 29 in his K class. T got the teacher my other had for k. She is sweet but very stern which he needs. We are at the beach and T seems good today. It’s a little cold though. 29 kids in a kindergarten class seems completely crazy to me.

kim22 I think our school caps the classes around 22 kids. At orientation they said there were currently enough enrolled kids for 3 classes of 17 so he said he hopes either no one else enrolls or a 17 more kids enroll so they have to add another class. I'm hopeful it stays around 17-18 kids in his class as I think that's a manageable number. But I'm not confident. Our elementary is the only ESL in the district so it gets extra enrollment due to that

Morning. At pick up yesterday B had the third incident report in three weeks that he was targeted and bullied. I am going to burn.it.down. but first coffee and breakfast.... what is going on? This seems unacceptable. Completely unacceptable. First was three weeks ago, he was being chased on purpose and when they got him that scratched his neck badly. I've got a picture. Second time was last week where he was playing lego with some kids and one kid didnt like the way he was digging through the lego bin looking for pieces and grabbed his neck, made a mark. Yesterday, four of them were playing lego and he said that one of the kids things he was making looked like a certain pokeman (which he is just getting into and I think it's cause some of these older kids are into it, so he's trying to connect with him) and this kid was like 'no', then instructed the other two to tackle him, so they did, put him some sort of choke hold an let him go cause he screamed and then they made fun of him that he sounded 'like a girl' (which doesnt fly in my books either), the teacher found him under the table crying. And yes, the teachers have a responsibility to watch the kids but they should be able to leave 4 kids playing lego at a table for 5 minutes, they shouldnt have to listen to every single thing being said. So this is completely on the kids and parents who arent dealing with them. I signed a zero tolerance policy regarding this type of stuff and I'm telling them to enforce it on the other kids, they need to be suspended and dealt with at home, period. I shouldn't have to take a day off work to keep him home in fear, they should take a day off to deal with the bullying child. And yes, for the record if either of my kids were the bully I would take a day off and ensure it was the worst day ever for them. I am putting this in writing, to the director and owner and giving them 1 week to deal with this if not it's being sent to the government stating that the daycare isnt providing proper care for the safety of a child.

Yes, it takes awhile but B tells me everything, naming kids and includes actions on what the kids are doing. So i know everything and believe him.

B has named the kids, there is a repeat offender and a couple of his sidekicks and they are all a problem.

So physical violence on top of harassment, that is absolutely ridiculous.
Why don’t they send the kids home when they are caught doing that?!

I'm upset for you vino. At least you know the identified main bully and sidekicks so the school should know who to focus on. I hope they take you seriously and address the matter appropriately. cagoldi I hope X gets the plan you're hoping for. Sounds very reasonable. *Hugs* regarding adjusting to separate households. A is a smart kiddo with a big heart. Eventually he'll adjust, but I'm glad he's able to talk to you openly about how he feels. That will help him process it.

Morning! I had my carpal tunnel surgery yesterday. I’m having some pain and itching with it but overall not doing too bad. I just hate being helpless. But my biggest problem is that I took some Colace to prevent constipation with the pain meds. Well let’s just say...not a problem. I have become one with the bathroom today 😂. I guess I should have waited to see if I was going to have a problem before I took it.

vino if you need help burning shit to the ground, let me know. I'd be at the school waiting for the other kids parents. It's total bullshit that a 5 year old can't go to school and not have to deal with this kind of behavior. Let us know what kind of response you get from the school. I'm so angry for you.

There is a new special education coordinator at the school and I LOVE her! She is going above and beyond to accommodate S’s needs. She’s bought some equipment to help her. She’s turned her office into a sensory room. I’m loving it! I also LOVE her new aide this year!! So I’m feeling hopeful for a good year!

I, on the other hand, just want to scoop up sweet B and give him a giant hug I was a mess yesterday; I focused on getting what happened out of him, making sure he was ok, knowing that he could call me at any time to talk to me when stuff like this happens, that it wasnt his fault, that he needs to keep being kind and that the actions of the boys are unacceptable that it's not ok to act like that etc. Very much about comforting him. Today when i dropped him off I had a good chat with the teacher and she was about to cry telling me about finding him under the table. They were all kind of around each other when I was about to leave this morning so i went over, gave him a hug and reminded him to be kind and that I hope others will do the same. Passive aggressive as fuck.
