I got woke up by a crying J at 5 am. It was thundering and Zorro was scared. Instead of laying with me like he does every single night. He opened the boys bedroom door and scared J with all the commotion. So I've been awake since then. I couldnt sleep with him in the bed with MJ.

At M's kindergarten screening. He was so excited and had to dress up to come here. We have orientation tonight. I'm so excited for him but also so sad. I just can't believe he's so big 😭

Much better drop off this morning. I parked and went in, but we used the side entrance. I spoke with the crossing guard and "helper" on that side and they said it was much less hectic, plus that entrance ONLY goes to the cafeteria, there is no way to get lost, so we may do drop off line on that side from now on.

Morning! H is off to school so S and I are going to have a fun day together. This morning we will go to the zoo. It’s going to be so weird not having to pick H up before lunch.

klong11 That entrance sounds like it will work out better! Yes, I wish they would have said, "hey prek and kinder parents, use the side entrance, it's easier for the kids" instead they just let us loose like a pack of wolves. Lost wolves.

When I left Cadence in the cafeteria sitting on the floor next to her teacher's name (no one in her class was there yet) she had a scared, dazed look on her face. I thought she was looking at me, so I gave her a thumbs up. A little boy sitting about 2 ids in front of her gave me a thumbs up. So, at least he's ready to have a good day. LOL

Morning.
MH had an early morning PT test so it was just me, the kids were so good, got themselves ready, no fits and out the door on time. Definitely eases any anxiety I had about MH’s away time coming up, phew.
Just waiting for my mentor and I think we’ll go for a walk in the river valley for our meeting instead of sitting in the coffee shop, it’s a gorgeous morning.

Morning.
So tired. I thought I would come back home and take a little nap, but I can’t fall asleep. I need to do some housework today. MH has a dinner tonight, so I’ll take the boys out for dinner after picking them up. I’m tempted to just pick something up and have a picnic at the park.

My kids have been playing quietly upstairs for over an hour. I don’t dare go see what they’re up to. Or do i? I prepped some food for our weekend away up north and now I’m lounging. Not sure what else is on the agenda. We had a load of gravel delivered for our new shed foundation, I’ll send the kids out eventually to play on the pile in hopes of spreading it out a bit. Lol.
And H just appeared and wants to play candy land.

Morning. Jet lag kicked in full force and the kids were both up (of course alternating) for a big part of the night. We took them to the dunes for a bit, where they can play in the sand and with mud. Hopefully things will go better tonight.

Hi ladies. I took the last 2 days off sick, which I never do. It's sad that it was nice to be sick and have an excuse for low-key days. My ear is still really swollen but I think the ABX are slowly getting at it. Thanks for the well wishes.
Tonight is Cass' "Kindergarten round-up"--whatever that means. Maddie said she thinks they'll corral them like cows. Sounds plausible. I think that's probably the struggle for 76% of K. Maddie is anxious to find out who her teacher is. They wait until the last minute--presumably so you can't complain/try to change it. I just hope their teachers don't give HW. I loath being responsible for it so young.

jewels Poor kid. I'm glad he seems to be doing better today. Will he try a popsicle? H lived off those the last time he had a stomach virus. That and yogurt tubes in the freezer.

We tried the popsicles and he refused them. But today he’s been drinking like normal and ate a bunch of Cheerios. While I was typing this he just walked in the room with an applesauce pouch singing ‘applesauce!’ So I think he’s good now. Or at least on his way there

Sorry you weren’t feeling well. We got something the first day of school saying homework will be assigned next week. 😱 IDK what that means other than, “they can’t even read yet, so homework for them = homework for you. Not thrilled.

Not thrilled. That blows. M's teacher said she'd send home a folder every day with homework, but it wasn't required. She's only doing it because a lot of parents request it, so everyone will get it.

At orientation in May they said there was minimal homework in K. Maybe a few projects a year. So that’s good.

I'm not too concerned with homework. Cadence has gotten used to it and if the teacher doesn't send any, I'll probably still give her a worksheet or two every now and then.

jewels - I assume the audible "awww" that came from me when looking through those pics was echoed by the rest of the board. Glad he is starting to perk up. Weird about the Kinder homework. Col's teacher last year certainly sent home his reading packet 3 nights a week and a few projects throughout the year, but no regular homework (unlike pre-K with a weekly packet). She felt that the transition to full-day school was a big enough transition that they didn't need homework on top of it. Hopefully his 1st grade teacher takes it easy on him!
