We had kind of a blah weekend. I was spoiled by having fridays off the last few months so it just feels kind of short. Plus MH went up north all day yesterday so I was alone with the boys. Now he’s doing yard work and I’m trying to clean and do laundry + keep an eye on the little humans.

I took DD to a BBQ with my extended family alone so I basically didn't get to talk to anyone, just keep my kid out of trouble! Otherwise it was filled with errands.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I wanted to respond sooner, but our weekend was super busy! I work for a ballet company and we had our children’s cast audition for The Nutcracker. It was wild, but it was fun to see all the kids so excited.
Keeping my eye on the long Labor Day weekend! I’m ready for it!

I hope it’s all ok quinn! Sorry about your insurance. culinarycanary welcome!! My DS is a D17 baby. Glad to have you!! I’m back to work after a long weekend down in San Diego. It was a fun weekend but I didn’t get back from golf last night until about 6. No real plans this coming long weekend other than cleaning and hanging all the new bathroom decor that came Friday. I’m excited to get the bathroom looking nice after the remodel.

N started in the Freshman room at daycare, which is the like the start of actual preschool as opposed to just mainly daycare. They have them try the potty in there already so I am thrilled! I'll just let daycare PT him like I did with DS1. I thought we would have a difficult drop off but he just wandered off to his friends without so much as a goodbye. Later, kid. I was nervous because I didn't really know any of the teachers in his new room but they made some changes and our favorite teacher from the sophomore room that DS1 had moved down to the Freshman room for this year. That eases a lot of anxiety for me. And N had a pretty decent verbal explosion over the weekend and is saying quite a few more words. We can actually almost have a conversation

culinarycanary this would be a long shot, but any chance you are in NJ? Or maybe PA? I have a friend from my other BMB whose daughter is doing the Nutcracker (she lives in NJ but I know they are close to PA), but they had to miss auditions recently because they had already scheduled a family trip. (Edit: trip, not cruise) I think she is still able to do it though... how funny would it be if you know them?

Also, hi, all. We may have an after care solution for DD1. They are opening some paid spots for the after school program at her school, and I signed her up ASAP. My registration went through but has yet to be confirmed because the person is off today, I think. It should be open by Wednesday (licensing has to finish up with them), so I am keeping all my fingers and toes crossed.
First day of K dropoff went great for DD1. I’m excited to pick her up and see how her first day went. 😊

It's hard when she's at daycare all day and only home for a couple hours, so we're waiting until they are fully on board. thatgolfb - YAY! I'll cross my fingers for you.

The rain ruined our amusement park plans so we took DS1 down to Chicago’s museum of science and industry and he loved it. It was nice to spend the day with him. Traffic wasn’t too horrible either!
I have a summer cold but since ds2 finally fully weaned I can take real cold medicine 🙌🏻

TW pet death....
I got home from work today and found that Vinny had passed away in our basement. He went outside on Saturday and didn’t come home (no matter what I tried) until Sunday morning. He must’ve eaten something while he was out- we found some nasty dead animal (mouse?) parts on our deck yesterday. Not super unusual, he’s brought us dead rodents in the past. He slept all day Sunday which isn’t unusual on the (rare) occasion that he stays out all night before. He puked a bit this morning, which again, is not unusual for him - he’s the one who would binge and purge his kibble- but I was a bit worried because he’s getting up there in age - he was 11. Well whatever it was he got into must’ve been poisonous or caused a blockage or something. Idk. I’m feeling very guilty and very sad.

pootsen I’m sorry for your loss of Vinny. Release the guilt though, there is no way you could have known it was going to happen. Big hugs to you guys.

I danced for a while with a company in PA for a few years, but I don’t live there anymore.

pootsen I’m so sorry. You should not feel guilty at all. Dogs are always getting into stuff, and you have no idea what caused it. You sound like you cared a lot for your pup. ❤️

That’s totally okay though because I didn’t mention anywhere in my post that he was a cat haha

It feels like fall outside and I dont like it but I'm taking advantage and baking some zucchini bread and making sauce and meatballs for dinner tonight.
One more week until the older boys start school so starting tomorrow night we are implementing a bedtime and waking up at 6:15 to prepare ourselves. They've been sleeping all day all summer so they need the practice lol

I am doing a happy dance because DD1 is officially enrolled in the aftercare after her school, and while we are in the paid program, it is still less than half the price of what we were paying DCP per month. I am SO STOKED. This is pretty much the best case scenario! And she starts tomorrow, so I don't have to stress about how to deal with 12:05 PM release days on Wednesdays. Woo hoo!
