I am doing a happy dance because DD1 is officially enrolled in the aftercare after her school, and while we are in the paid program, it is still less than half the price of what we were paying DCP per month. I am SO STOKED. This is pretty much the best case scenario! And she starts tomorrow, so I don't have to stress about how to deal with 12:05 PM release days on Wednesdays. Woo hoo! I'll do a happy dance with you!!!! That's so awesome!

Good morning! I ended up taking the day off work yesterday because our other cat, Mittens, started vomiting and we wanted to get him checked out to make sure he wouldn’t follow Vinny’s fate. Plus I was just super sad and felt like I needed a day to grieve. Turns out that little furry asshole really had a hold on my heart.
I just got a call from the vet that Mittens’ blood work was normal and he seems back to his normal self so I’m very relieved. The vet thinks that Vinny was poisoned by eating a mouse that had just ingested poison from a mouse trap. Such a bummer.
Anyways, I’m back at work today and trying to stay positive. Ds1 had his first fall soccer game last night and DH is a coach so that was fun to watch. C is a monster lately. I think he’s starting the terrible 2s early!

Hi all! I haven't been around for ages, I hope everyone is doing really well! (will catch up on posts)
We've just been through teething (canines) and summer eye/nose bug mess - so much snot, so much drool! And BabyWaffle has emerged from that with major moods: she throws stuff around, hits/bites her dad, wants to be picked up all the time and is generally super defiant.
I guess the terrible twos are landing early? Send wine.

Oh man, terrible twos already pootsen and Waffle? I have had a little hint or two of it with DD too. She hasn't been listening as well as she used to! It seems to depend on the day though. Hello California people and others, I have a dumb question, I'm going to have a free morning alone in LA in September and I'm not sure what to do with myself. I was just thinking a manicure, but then was wondering if there's anything more interesting I could do that wouldn't be weird on my own?

blabbermouth, LA is one (large) area I am pretty unfamiliar with, unfortunately. It is such a huge area, I think it depends on where you will be. I would say you can't go wrong going to the beach. My sister and I went to the LA county museum of art, and that was interesting. I know that the Getty museum is free. H and I have the La Brea tar pits and Griffith park on our list of places to take the kids at some point (I haven't been to the tar pits since I was a kid). We usually drive through LA and don't stop, haha.

Lol, I know! It's never somewhere I've stopped either. Unless you count LAX as a stop. And I left it really vague for location because I have looked into it zero so far. And other than 'downtown' I actually have no idea. I'm meeting my sister there who's at a conference. She was going to skip Friday and now she realized that for some reason they made that the most important day so I'll have time to kill in the morning. But I might just lay in bed and order room service...

Welcome back Waffle! I, personally, found 3 to be much more miserable than 2, so maybe she’s getting her acting out early. I just had my first day with the kids. I’m exhausted. I also see that we have a lot of work to do this year. N had his first day of kindergarten. It started off great by him missing the bus in the morning and getting home over an hour after school got out. We live a mile from the school. Apparently the bus route listed in the newspaper was not correct. He loved school, so there’s at least that.

blabbermouth, sarahandben108, I seriously hope it's a phase but our super independent girl now keeps trying to climb me for "cuddles" (she just wants carried and know how to pull at the heartstrings) and will legit stomp her feet in fury when you put her down to do something, like prepare her dinner... It doesn't matter that I explain what I'm doing, give her bits of food as I go along, all she wants is to be carried.

Glad I’m not alone on this. We had a full blown, throw herself on the ground screaming fit because I told her we were done eating breakfast. She had two pancakes, fruit, and a cup of milk. It was ugly. I think 2 is going to come in like a wrecking ball 😬

Today went better so I hope it only improves. N loves the bus. It’s his highlight. He made my H go outside at 6:30 this morning to wait for it and it didn’t come until 7:00 😂. He was so afraid of missing the bus.

Hi everyone! Back from vacation (and spent all of yesterday drowning in work emails), so finally catching up. Don't mind me LT'ing posts from last week lol. Hope back-to-school has been going well for everyone! Welcome, culinarycanary! Break legs with your Nutcracker this year! Sending you love, pootsen. Losing a pet is so hard. Glad your other kitty is OK. Staycation was great, but busier than I planned. Spent the first part of it cleaning before my parents arrived, then headed to Baltimore for our first night away from N. He was legit so giddy to see my parents, I don't think he even noticed we were gone! The Wallflowers were great (yay 90s nostalgia lol). After my parents left, we still sent N to daycare to finish cleaning the house, do some escape rooms, and relax. The house hasn't been this clean in months... I hope it lasts lol. Did I mention N fell last week at daycare and broke his fall with his face? He had a nasty black eye, but that's finally better. Got some nasty bug bites (I think chigger?) from playing in his sandbox the other night... H put spray on him but clearly not enough. They don't seem to be bothering him at all, but one was right on the sock line so it's super irritated and the skin broke. In better news, we finally signed him up for swim lessons and they start next weekend!

I mean she's always falling off of things or just falling over, but no black eyes yet. However, she IS always sick. Home again from daycare with a runny nose and a hoarse voice. I'm at work (but why?) and my mom is home with her now.

C is so sassy lately, but he’s also exponentially sweeter. I got home from work today after a particularly stressful day, and he just crawled up into my lap and repeated “momma momma momma” over and over again. He won’t let me put him down. I’m enjoying the snuggles for sure.

Anyone have special plans this weekend? I’m doing a massive cleaning today. Tomorrow we are going to the local amusement park one last time. Monday will be work week prep. E starts his new daycare and we jump in to back to school for me and N.

I got the girls’ rooms straightened up, and laundry going. And most of my own stuff done. H and I have a date night tonight. the place we are going looks so good!

What an exhausting week! The first week of school always is, but this crew of kiddos seems to be needing even more help and reminders than usual. I’m exhausted and I’m losing my voice. No big plans this weekend. We rented a truck to do a dump run this morning with some old couches and a mattress from our basement this morning, so I guess cleaning up the basement is our plan. Fun. lol

Neither child napped today. Dinner is in the crockpot and I am really looking forward to when my H gets home from work so I can check out. Early bedtimes for all tonight!

blabbermouth, it depends on where you are staying. LA is an effing zoo with morning traffic so unless you are staying near one of the sight seeing places, I probably wouldn’t venture out on a morning. I hate LA though so take that with a grain of salt. Getty is cool. Wall of stars is underwhelming IMO, but I suppose something most should see once.

Today we went yo the beach and then to ILs for a swim and dinner while dh has a draft. We are supposed to do dinner out tonight, so I’m going to be pissed if he dilly dallys and I’m stuck without a date and scrounging for food with my ILs tonight.
Tomorrow am volunteering at church. Then I want to hang my bathroom decor and some house stuff. I bought some refurbished faucet trims for a third of the price that I need to see if dh will install.

We're just doing more unpacking and organizing and whatnot this weekend. Both sets of parents asked to come visit Monday and we said yes but I think we're going to tell both never mind. H just worked 12 days straight without a break and our next two weekends have obligations, so this is our only time to do anything until the end of September.

Aww bethkate, that sounds rough so far. We're also going to the fair tomorrow. I love the fair here, my favourite time of year. And hopefully DD will also be feeling good enough to sleep over at my parents so we can do date night and sleep in until at least 7 haha.

C has awful diaper rash. As soon as she potties in her diaper she starts crying. It's so sad 😞
