Dd1 had a sleepover at Grandma's house last night with her two cousins. They other two kept DD up until past ten and then woke her up at 6 😣. I just told dh we are never doing a sleepover again (jokingly but DD is a MESS if she doesn't get sleep at night). DD had been screaming at me for hours about every. Little. Thing.

Help!
I'm trying to think ahead to the road trip we are doing next month. We are driving over 800 miles in two days with my family and two kids. I easily can figure out ways to entertain my 4 year old....but what do we do with an 8 month old???? They can't really enjoy toys the way a 1-2 year old can and definitely doesn't pay attention to movies or tv really. Any tricks of the trade for this age in the car?

We just drove about 700 miles over 2 days. The first day was the longest with about 12 hours in the car due to traffic and stops. We left at 5 am the first day so they would sleep longer in the car. It helped if I was sitting in the back or her sister was talking to her. But she napped more than I expected. The second day was hard because both girls knew we were going to be in the car for a while.

Here's something that will probably make you all laugh: dd1 who has been potty trained for months, pooped in our back yard tonight. Just squated right in the grass and then came laughing up to me and said she pooped in the yard like a doggie 🙈🤦🤦🤦

I've had the kids share a bath a couple times recently. They're so cute together in the big tub! DD loves splashing in the big tub, but DS is ready for her to get out after only a short while so he can have the water a little deeper and "swim like a fish" 😄

He's grown out of everything and if I put him in a laundry basket or bucket he stands up and falls out constantly. But if I keep him out in the shallow tub, he climbs all over DD or the sides and falls then too. I tried showering with him and it was awful. He kept climbing up the sides and he and I were so slippery that I almost dropped him a few times.

I took DS2 in the shower for the first time last weekend and he was soooo slippery trying to pick him up to wash the soap off. I'm thinking of just trying DS2 in the big tub next time since I've never been a fan of our infant tub. I'm sure big brother will want to join him.

DDs have been doing baths together recently but dd2 is getting so crazy in the tub, I'm exhausted by the end. And dd1 always gets frustrated with dd2 grabbing her and kicking her and falling on her that she wants dd2 to get out as soon as possible. I told dh the other day after giving them a bath by myself that I might have to just do two separate quick baths for awhile until dd2 gets less crazy.

My DD is not pulling up yet, so she's not super crazy in the tub yet. She tries to lurch forward to grab toys and splashes a lot, but otherwise she does ok staying seated. I definitely haven't tried taking DD in the shower with me - I know she'd be way too slippery! pixiepink24 do you have a little bath mat to help with your DS slipping?

How many meals of solids are you all doing each day? We're still only doing two. I can't remember what age I started doing three with DS.

Help! We have a wedding Saturday - I had planned to dress shop for something new but work was a disaster the past couple weeks so I ran out of time.
The first 2 dresses are out of my closet and miraculously fit again. The third was an impulse buy from Amazon because it could be here tomorrow but who knows if I'll even like it on me. It's a 5pm "semi formal" wedding at a nice but not that fancy country club.

Some days we still only get 1 meal in if it's a busy day because I'm still making nursing very much the priority. I try so hard to prioritize nursing but, damn, girlfriend is SO distracted. A quiet room doesn't help cause then she just wants to play with her feet or try to sit up and play with the arm of the chair 😒 and I can't get a room dark enough during the day! I've started giving her finger foods to feed herself during meals so she's not eating a lot of volume of solids. But speaking of the distracted nursing - I'm a little anxious of what our pedi will say about her weight at our 9 month appt. She's slowed a lot in her weight gain. I know it's normal for weight gain to slow down at this age, especially when they learn to crawl and get so active, but she's slowed enough so that she's dropped probably 10 percentiles or so. She wasn't especially small to begin with and she's active and meeting milestones, so I've been trying not to worry too much. Her appt is in a few weeks so we'll see. Not sure how I'll get her to nurse more though. She still won't take a bottle so I don't know how I'm supposed to supplement additional breast milk or formula if necessary.

Nymeria I like the first and third dresses! tbirdlove DD is so distracted as well, I don't remember dd1 ever being this distracted. We do probably 3-4 sessions of solids a day because DD nurses so terribly. The only time I can get her to eat well is when she's super sleepy or sometimes right when she wakes up. Any other time is the biggest struggle. We've been doing baby food pouches that DD can eat pretty quickly and then lots of finger foods. The pouches at least get her some calories quickly and it's helped her learn how to suck so she's doing much better at drinking from straw cups and sippy cups.

Nymeria #1 is my pick. On vacation we started 3 meals a day. Breakfast was vanilla green yogurt, a pouch for lunch and finger food of what we were eating for dinner. I didn’t happen everyday but girl wants to eat when we are eating. I also started bathing the girls together. P’s in the bath long enough to splash and get clean. Then we put more water in the tub for M to play.

I scheduled a speech evaluation for dd2 today. I've flipped flopped back and forth about whether we should get her evaluated by I feel like if we don't and it turns out she needs a little extra help I would feel guilty for not doing it sooner. Her appointment is still a few weeks away so if she has some improvement before then I can still cancel it. I've read that insurance a lot of time doesn't cover speech therapy so hopefully if we do decide to go to the appointment it's not super expensive!

brenna it certainly can't hurt! And if nothing else it can help put your mind at ease. We had my DS's evaluation for free through the school district when he had a referral from our pedi. Do you have any options like that near you?

How many meals of solids are you all doing each day? We're still only doing two. I can't remember what age I started doing three with DS. I pretty much try to give him some type of thing to nibble on at each meal so he can be included and sit with us. I wouldn't necessarily call them meals. We are mostly doing BLW so I just usually throw a few things on the high chair, even if it's just those puffs or teething waffer. He's only recently reallygotten the hang of real food and chewing.

This guy has been walking all over the house pushing this thing. And he gets soooo mad when he gets stuck or runs into something. He loves it though.
