I really jacked up my foot last night and I have a 5k SAT. Whoops. What exactly did you do? We were doing kick drills on the bag. I did a side kick and didn't wait long enough for the bag to recoil before doing a back kick afterwards. So basically the bag was coming back towards me at the same time I struck it. My ankle is swollen and lumpy and the impact shot up about mid-calf. It hurts to walk or move it. I'm wearing regular work shoes, but I think I'm going to switch to comfy flip-flops today and not GAF. ETA: I work with a bunch of MDs and I think one is an orthopedist, but they're mostly so odd I'd feel weird asking their opinion.

Seriously though. fill the bucket with ice, then enough water to cover up to you mid calf or more. 10 min in, 10 min out. repeat twice. I'd do it a few times a day, if you can, for a couple days.

jewels Shit, I'm sorry. Do you give him zyrtec at night or in the morning? ETA I remember there being a thread several years ago on Parenting about side effects of zyrtec. If you find the thread, let me know. I give Evie Zyrtec in the evenings since her eye selling. The doctor she saw said it might cause drowsiness, so I figured evening was better than AM. She also said with the pollen and shit in the air currently, it works better than Claritin. Sorry for your rough night jewels. I hope your day goes fast

That stinks, inthekitty. FX the swelling and pain subside quickly. jewels so weird! I’ve also been told that Zyrtec can make the kids drowsy but I guess there’s always those outliers where they have the opposite effect. Doesn’t Benadryl do something similar to C, wedding. tgrimes pizza for breakfast IS winning at life. I’m sorry you had a rough night, lahdeedah. Very resourceful getting him to the barber so early! I would probably just give up and make him wear a hat.

I was reading a bunch on line last night and yes, the most common side effect is drowsiness, but not in everyone. But the other thing I read was that zrtec works well for runny nose type symptoms but for itchy, swelling eyes and stuffiness (B's symptoms) it said that a nasal spray and steroid/antihistamine eye drops are better. B will fight me to the death to do either one of those things so I'm not looking forward to that...

That sounds really tough cagoldi. I hope the next session goes better. lahdeedah he looks good! Lucky he has such a nice mama to take him in early. Glad you're feeling a little better. jewels oof. What a night. Hope you can figure out what it is and he gets some sleep and your anxiety abates. There are not going to be anymore sessions. It was truly distressing for everyone. He hyperventilated and almost threw up, which he hasn’t done in a long time. I understand that some environmental pressures need to be applied to motivate him to communicate more, but having someone come into his house and physically impose their will on him is 💯 not okay. We are going to continue to look at alternatives.

Someone said Zyrtec made their kid act crazy. She was giving it in the morning and he was acting out all day. So she switched it to nighttime. I was always told to give it a night, but if jewels is having a hard time maybe she could try the morning and see what happens. Zyrtec always worked better than Claritin for M.

cagoldi, oh that makes me so sad. Did she have a reason?? She was trying to make him say “all done.” She stood over him on the couch and would not let him do anything or move away from her until he complied.

PDQ. I was looking at our joint account recently and noticed that MH sends 250 to SD every month. I noticed it at the beginning of the year, but figured it was for like a parking pass or something else with the beginning of the school year. I asked him about it this week and he said that he just sends it because she doesn’t have any money for things. I was like.............. How about she get a job?? She quit cheer at the beginning of the semester, which I thought she was gonna finish the year out, but whatever. So when she quit that, she should have tried to find work. She has been on, I think, two trips with the church she is involved with just this semester and does things with her sorority. I’m sorry darling, but this ain’t a you go to school and we will pay you to do what you want kind of deal. I was taking twenty hours a semester and had two jobs. I never asked my parents for anything. I’m not saying she has to do the same and I’m not saying we wouldn’t give her money if she needed it, but not like this. I told Mh that we won’t be continuing this handout and she can find work.
So my question, wwyd? I didn’t even notice it until now, so it’s probably not affecting us money-wise, but I don’t want to just give handouts either with how the majority of the younger generation seems to think they are entitled to certain things.

I’m sorry for the rough nights. jewels I agree that maybe you should try to switch it up and see if that helps. If not, maybe take him to be seen. Could he maybe have an ear infection?

lahdeedah, how old is she? She def. needs to find a job. There was one point in my college career where I had 3 jobs because I could only find jobs that were a couple hours a week. So if at the end of the pay period I was short, then yes, my Dad would help out, but he knew I was trying to pay for things myself and showing some sort of effort.

Morning. Both girls are at school. We have to go back early because S’s class is doing a “spring sing” which should be cute. I’m hoping the sun dries the ground up a bit so I can get my roses planted this afternoon. The sooner they’re in the ground, the sooner I get flowers. Oh heck no cagoldi. I hope you find a better option right away. Is this the same lady that was causing issues during the eval process? lahdeedah I would definitely stop sending SD money. I also had to work through college. Besides, she will be off for the summer in a matter of weeks. If she doesn’t want to work during the school year, she can work on saving while she’s working in the summer.

And yes, this is exactly what we would do. Like at least put effort but to just ask because “I don’t have any money”. Life doesn’t work like that dear. It’s also not like she never worked. She always had babysitting jobs and summer jobs at home, so I’m wondering why she doesn’t have one now. 🤔

lahdeedah I'm torn on the funding. I had a job in college, but also had a credit card my dad paid for essentials...but I worked my tail off every summer for general spending money. Other factors are involved and overall financial assistance - are you paying tuition, other bills like phone, etc. I'd suggest your h talk and maybe come up with a solution or maybe wind it down and set expectations. Otherwise she may attribute it to you and that's prob not a great look, even if it makes sense. After Xmas break my freshman year my dad emailed and said he wouldn't be paying for my sorority dues bc I didn't spend enough time with my brother over break. We didn't speak for 4 months and it still stings (the delivery mostly and the unknown expectation). Turns out my SM had no idea this went down when I brought it up a few years ago (and she was horrified), but i didn't know who to be mad at at the time. Not same scenario, just an anecdote of a surprise funding cutoff that didnt go well.
