Should be productive, but instead I’m watching Parks and Rec.

I'm trying to find a new show to get in to but I feel like there's nothing right now. FWP, y'all.

I haven't watched TV in a thousand years. I have no free moment at home in which to do so. It's sad. I have a few things I want to watch. Maybe in 2025 or something.

We started watching "our planet" on Netflix and it is gorgeous but there was one part with a poor little baby flamingo (no spoilers!) And I started bawling. Maybe not the best to watch pregnant. If you like cooking shows, great British baking show is really good.

I've been down to one kid during the day so during nap time, I can squeeze a show or two in. It's been beautiful. thinkchocolate05 ohh I love those types of shows! I'll have to give it a try; thanks for the recommendation!

I have a terrible habit of watching the same shows over and over again. The office, parks and rec, that 70s show and king of the hill are on loop in my house😬

We tend to rewatch shows just for background noise but we also have our new things that we keep up with when we have time. Lately it seems like shows we like get cancelled or or they're just not hooking us enough to keep us interested.

My H and I can't find a show to watch at night and I'm thinking about rewatching something. We've been so hooked on GoT so I have no idea what we're going to do when it's over!

I just started rewatching Mad Men while J naps. I watch while I'm doing other stuff so rewatching works well since I don't have to pay close attention.

My mom got here Tuesday afternoon and is leaving today. She was here while H is at a conference out of state (he gets back tomorrow night). It started out a little weird, but we settled into a good routine and talking and just feeling nice she's here. Makes me feel better about her being our care solution for J when we go to the hospital to have #2. Although I had to roll my eyes when she said she booked her flight out today at 11:00 because J "had been napping 1-3pm" (that has NEVER happened since we went to one nap) and that she thought H was coming back tomorrow morning (I sent her his flights, so nope).

DS woke up super ridiculously early this morning. On the bright side, I woke up to a text that my sister finally had her baby, I have a niece! Well, technically I already have 12 nieces and nephews, but all on DH’s side. We went to the hospital this morning to see her, she was adorable and snuggled into me. So excited for my kids to have cousins close in age to play with! DH is the youngest of his siblings so the cousin closest in age to DD is 6 years older. Our baby will be only 6ish months younger than his/her cousin, so fun!!!!

DS was in love, he sat “holding” the baby and just kept patting her and smiling and saying “baby”, my heart melted. DD was not enthused. She has a cough so we told her she had to wear a mask to hold the baby so I’m sure that didn’t help. I think the hospital thing threw her off, hopefully she will be better once we see them at home tonight

Sounds like a fair amount of people here are already talking names. Neither H nor I have brought it up yet. I think we're scared, haha. Also we have a ton of other stuff going on so likely we won't talk about it seriously until after our move which would be around 29/30 weeks.
Does anyone have any guidelines they're following for names? Family names, everyone with the same initials, something not in the top 100, etc? Just curious.
For us, with our first we narrowed it down to two initials because H is Jewish and they tend to name babies in honor of a relative who is no longer with us. We used his maternal grandfather's first initial (J). The boy name would have been his last name. There are no new relatives to honor with names (no complaints about that) so I'm not sure if he has any thoughts. I have a solid girl name I really like but who knows if he'll be on board. He has odd taste in names. Last time around his suggestions for girl names were all 80s names and not my style.

marshian We do have a names for this baby but are mostly undecided on a middle name. The only criteria we have is the first initial needs to be an A, which we started unintentionally. MH and I both have A names and then we fell in love with an A name for our oldest so by the time we had our second, we figured she'd be our last and didn't want her left out so we went the same route. Had I known that we'd have 2 more babies, I think we might have done something different but luckily, A names are easy! I do feel a little corny about it but hey, it's just kind of how it worked out.

What’s interesting is for all three kids we’ve had names right away and they never changed but interestingly we’ve never reused a non-used name from one kid to the next.

Am I the only weirdo who did the math and feels like there are Jan 2020 moms out there who recently found out they are preggo and we don’t have a BMB for them?

Not just to honor those who have passed, but because it is kind of shlemazel (sp?) or bad luck. My English name is very different from my great grandma’s (think like Bella vs Linda) but she was very upset because our Hebrew names ended up translating the same. It’s kind of like to have two of you puts one in jeopardy or suggests that the older person is kind of ready for the grave...

We are really bad at names. We've talked about it once which was really H looking at the list I started weeks prior and then me saying ew I don't like that anymore lol.
People keep asking if we have a name and they think we're just being secretive but we didn't name our son until after he was born. We had a list but didn't want to pick until we met him and I definitely changed my mind from what my favorite was.
I'm in this weird state of feeling like I'm running out of time but also just not having time to do or think about anything. It's so different from the first kid lol.

marshian DH and I tend to prefer older style names that are not obscure but also not super common. DD’s name is in the top 40-50 depending on which list you look on, DS’s is in the top 100 but lower down there. We definitely avoid top 20 names. I also don’t like names that can be shortened to a nickname...unless I love the nickname. Both my kids have names that do not shorten to a nickname. Most of the names we are looking at currently also meet that criteria. With the exception of Eloise which is DH’s current front runner, we would be ok with Ellie as a nickname for that.

Anyone interested in sharing their list? Here is where we are at currently:
Boys - Seth, Theo, Wyatt (might be too popular for my liking, I’m undecided)
Girls - Clara, Eloise, Lucy, Mila
My personal current favourites are Seth and Clara. DS likes Eloise, not sure which boy name is his current fav
Middle name will likely be a family name but we haven’t discussed it yet

I try to avoid super popular or trendy names. I would prefer my kids not be 1 of many in their class with the same name. I originally wanted to avoid long names which tended toward nicknames but gave up on that since my favorites were all long. Our rule is we wait for what fits and/or the kid decides what they want to be called. #1 is Jose.phine and at around 19mo started calling herself "Jiji". I don't blame her, we gave her a long name to pronounce! We'll see how long it sticks (been 3 months so far). doodlemommy - I don't even have a list going yet, haha

@doodlenommy DD will be Jac.que.line Renee.
We’ve never changed first names once they were decided, but for both her and DS1, we changed middle names.
My only real requirement is it needs to be first names that have been around for basically forever. She’ll share a first initial with DS1 and middle initial with DS2, but that was coincidental

doodlemommy, I love your lost! Clara is one of those that I am so in love with, makes me so sad I can’t use it. Not only are we probably one and done, but H didn’t like it. Was also considering June and Celeste when we didn’t know what we were having. Theo is another I’m in love with, would it be short for Theodore? I think Theodore is the only name I’ve found that I ever liked as much as the name we chose, but again H wasn’t on board 🙄 marshian, I never really liked that my name was always the only one in class when I was a kid, but as I got older I was SO happy I wasn’t one of many Jessicas. I definitely feel the same way, something unique that isn’t going to be everywhere. I’m kind of the worst, I always look on those “unique baby name” lists on Facebook to see if our choice is on there, and I’m always happy to see it isn’t haha
