Today was so rough for being tired and sleepy. I feel like I just haven’t gotten that second tri energy I remember and third tri is almost here (can’t even believe that!)!!! I am just a forever tired toddler mama

Add me to the tired club. 22mo has been waking up at 4:30 or 5am for weeks now. It's too early.

stayingblonde , Now I’m very curious, what is your full list of no no names from being a teacher? I went to look for it, but it looks like I don't have it written down anymore. It's Ethan and then whatever name causes some kind of visceral reaction when I hear it.

Tired here also. I don't think I've ever gotten the mythical 2nd trimester energy boost!

People have a tendency to use people names on dogs so I have a mental list of names I think are “dog names” that I would never use 😂

peggyhill I'm sure the woman at the park the other day loved it when I said "I love that name. It's our cat's name" LOL

But there aren’t many cat Patrick’s, so that name is still in play for babies in my mind. Names like Toby, Sophie, Lola, etc are dog names to me because I just see SO MANY every day. There are more in my brain but it’s hard to think of them of the top of my head! (My apologies to the Toby, Sophie, Lola parents....lol)

I think it's the best thing when someone names their pet a very obviously human name. One of my cousins once had a hamster named Ethan and it still makes me randomly laugh to myself years later 😂
My dog is named Moxie. I don't think I've ever met a human with that name. I think it's a safely a "pet" name.

We also have human named pets over here! Growing up my dog was Mandy. My parents dog (that we got when I was in university but living at home) is Lacey. Mine is Sadie. Lacey and Sadie are sisters (2 years apart but same parents) and are Australian Labradoodles ❤️

I name all the cats at work after middle aged women, we’ve had a Linda, Wanda, Nancy, Debbie. Luckily there aren’t many 80s names on our baby list. I did meet a lovely yellow lab with my DDs name last year.

Odd question for those of you who camp and are second third or fourth time moms: when is he soonest you would go camping with your baby? I really want to do more camping when the little guy gets here, but I obviously don’t want to go too soon. Any anecdotes or advice?

I guess it would depend on whether you were exclusively breastfeeding and how buggy he environment was (for me). Due to washing bottles and whatnot, I wouldn’t want to take my kids under 1. Preferably 2 or 3+ so that I can put bug spray on them or use itch cream without concern. I would take into consideration how much paraphernalia they would need to be occupied and their diaper situation too, in light of the facilities available. Ticks and mosquitoes are the worst. I violently hate them.

I had a really triggery birth dream last night. It started out kind of funny in a surprise birth while on stadium bleachers but ended up really horrible. I need to shake it, but it was so disturbing it keeps lingering.

roseinbloom , We typically camp around the ocean (Morro Bay, Bodega Bay), so typically not too buggy, but that is a lot to consider! Thanks for the input!

My grandmother’s and mom’s names have both been listed here as suitable animal names.

I don’t know these areas, but if they are more beachy than woody I would be a lot less concerned about bugs, and just whether there were suitable washing facilities for anything that goes in the mouth or met your needs for diapers. But camping means a lot of different things to different people. We are a small put-up tent family that goes to wooded areas (with a lake) that might have a water spout but probably won’t have electricity.

We tent camp every year, DS was a January baby so he was 6+ months, DD was born in May, so she was 2-3 months. We usually bring the pack n play for the tent, and it’s super easy to baby wear when they’re little. This past summer we tried a wilderness paddle/hike in only site...that I don’t recommend. We won’t do that again until we’re well beyond the toddler years. It’s helpful to have a car to drive around a cranky kid for a nap if needed.

Thankfully we now have a vehicle that is baby camping friendly, so it’s definitely sounding more doable than before. Hope we can get it into the schedule and make sure to get the tradition going!

We placed an offer on a house and after some back and forth on price they accepted! Now we just need to sell our house, and quick. Realtor is going to relist/price drop and have an open house this weekend. Fingers crossed it works out!

Aww, little quail are so sweet. MIL was raising them to release into the wilds of Maine to repopulate the native population (?) ***This is what she said...but I should really check the ornithology on that.
Anyway, it didn’t work out; they just became a quick meal for the foxes. But she tried, and they were super cute.
