Oh no I just meant I would have liked the stand alone name of Theodore. My bad. I know no fewer than 6 Theodores under 4. Which is not to say that it isn't a great name -- just that I would not have been surprised if they had used it, so I was sort of pleasantly surprised that they didn't. I’m so sad that the name jumped up the charts. Actually both of my kids’ older type names jumped up to top 10. 😒 FTR, I really like Archie. I think it’s really cute

It's a cute name.
I would've loved Archer a bit more, but Harry looks like the dad of an Archie. So, it fits for me.

Mountbatten-Windsor is a hell of a surname. He might not have HRH styling, but that name still carries a ton of weight.

Lol that was my first thought when I saw the name. But everyone else was loving it so I didn't say anything. I picked up on that, but I still love it. Is "Harry's Son" bad? No, there isn't anything wrong with it I just thought it was odd.

I think it’s really cute Can I ask why it makes you sad that your kids' names jumped in popularity? I ask that as someone with a very, very, common in Catholic circles name...who named her kid something very, very, common in Catholic circles. Being surrounded by people with the same first name as me has never been something I felt any way about. ...also guess how many of my cousins are Michaels or Anthonys. I’m sure it’s personal preference but growing up there were 2 other girls in my grade with the same name, it was a small school so we were all known by Name Last Initial and it really annoyed me. It was the same deal at summer camps and sports teams, I would get so excited if I was the only one. It’s been my biggest struggle picking names because I love traditional names but I don’t want my kid to be 1 of many of the same name wherever they go.

Here’s the thing. If Archie has a title it would have been announced with his name. It wasn’t so he doesn’t. They have passed on giving him the Dumbarton title. He is currently the Zara of the family. Can they do that do? Most titles are designed to be inherited. Unless they are written differently, they are passed to the first male child. Zara is different because her father declined any titles, so his children could not have titles (and as the children of the Queen's daughter, they were not entitled to HRH). Do we have any reason to believe that Harry's titles were written to be life titles and not hereditary titles?

No, there isn't anything wrong with it I just thought it was odd. Haha I was thinking of how appropriate it was. Remember on the Baby Names boards when people would get all irate when someone named Bob named their kid Jameson or something? Yeah, Bobson would definitely be more apropos in that situation. And really, I just wanted to type Bobson.

Archibald Harrison means Genuine and Bold Son of Harry/Henry. I don't love Archie as a name, but I like the meaning, and I think Harrison is a sweet way to give him Harry's name without actually having a Junior. One of Harry's middle names is Charles, so I like the continuance of the tradition. Agreed. And since they obviously liked Archie it’s a nice way to use Harrys name instead of Archie Henry or Archie Harry. To me, Harrison flows a lot better.

Eta: it doesn’t matter about hereditary titles because as far as we’ve been told the titles have been declined. He has no title because they don’t want him to have one. He could have one some day later if they choose to use it.

Well now I can appreciate her dress choice. She should have picked a different style from that designer but damn Meghan, you’re awesome for that.

I liked how they were kind of unique before gaining popularity. It is what it is though. 🤷🏼♀️ I don’t either will end up like a Jennifer type name of the 80s, where in our class each one ended up with a designated variation of the name (Jenn, Jennifer, Jenny, adding initials after if there were 4 in your class).

My name is crazy unique and it’s always been obnoxious to explain how to spell and pronounce to everyone everywhere I go, constantly. I purposely gave my kids Jennifer names so they wouldn’t have to work so hard on being called the right name. 😂

Do we have any reason to believe that Harry's titles were written to be life titles and not hereditary titles? Yeah. They declined the title. I'd like to see that in an official statement. Not just an assumption based off of it not being listed on their Instagram announcement. From what I can find about Harry's titles, they were written to be passed to his male children. Not to revert to the Crown. So he can't decline something that he already has.
