Am I dreaming or is someone on here an ultrasound tech? I think there may have been someone, but TW I don’t think they are here anymore

I saw that the Rock and Play has now been recalled, do any of you lovey ladies have alternatives that you’ve tried? Just to have your baby in while you take a shower or clean, something relatively portable? I was banking on the rock and play before all this news broke out, I’ve had lots of friends who used it and loved it but now I guess not 😕

I think that if it is used appropriately and under supervision, there is absolutely no issue. Last time around we used it for sleeping but we won’t be doing that this time around. It is amazing because it is so portable and can go room to room or even fold up and go with us in the car from place to place. It is also the only thing my son would be put down in. I used it while cooking/cleaning/showering! He hated the swing and being flat and bouncer and just about everything. It wasn’t until he was three or four months when he could be in the Sit Me Up (very highly recommend!) that we finally found something else besides the rock and play he would be in!

Eventually everyone just joins you in the bathroom for everything you do. Forever.

I had planned on still using it as well, but I think if I’m bent on using it I have to get a used one from someone because they aren’t on amazon anymore, I think they’ve all been recalled, I doubt even the brick and mortar stores would have them

I’m guessing by the end of the week they will be all gone.

It's also a no no for sleeping but has a handle and is very portable and baby just rests comfy in the indentation.

We have one and planned on using it again but MH is kind of a stickler about these things so I don't know now. I went ahead and submitted for the recall thinking I can at least use whatever money they give me towards a bassinet, but then it said something like allow 18-22 weeks for processing so it's going to be cutting it close. I haven't looked at what else is out there these days so I'll have to do that at some point. I'm also annoyed because I read about how the BOB stroller also had issues but they somehow got away with not issuing a recall. So all these damn products are becoming defective right when I need them lol

Sadly it does look identical and it’s being marketed as a sleeping place. That I think is the biggest issue as it is not technically a safe sleep space.

Man, I loved our RnP for our two younger kids but we are going with what is basically a mini pack n play once we move, just to be on the safe side. I want something a little more portable than a crib but safe for sleeping.

RNPs are not as commonplace in Canada and are not marketed as a sleeping device here and haven’t been in at least as long as I’ve had kids! We have had a playpen right beside the bed with great intentions for our kids to sleep there...they both coslept in our bed. We all get more sleep and would way rather plan ahead for co sleeping by making the bed a safe place than having baby end up in there without planning ahead. DD was in our bed for about 7 months for at least half the night (I would sometimes get one stretch with her in the playpen). DS slept in the playpen sometimes for the first couple hours but then was in our bed for the rest of the night until 6 months. They both transitioned to their cribs in their own rooms (DD at 9 months, DS at 6 months) and other than a couple tough nights initially slept fine and still do so 🤷♀️ DD was a terrible napper but did ok in a swing, DS was ok with napping in the bassinet or crib. This one will be in our room for at least 6 months. We will attempt the playpen but are totally prepared to bed share again since it works for us

Also tomorrow morning is FINALLY my first ultrasound and I’m so excited! I also have to find time to get blood work and a urine sample done...likely with both kids in tow which will suck...

We are re-doing our flooring in the living room/hallways and OMG the carpet was so gross. We are putting in laminate wood and about 1/2 way done. I was hoping to get done over the weekend, but oh well! hopefully we can knock it out over the next couple of days.

Ultrasound this morning went great! Healthy baby (and only one to DH’s relief), HB 169. Measuring at 13 weeks (I thought 12). Sitting in the lab for blood work, crossing all the things the wait is on the short end so I can get in before I have to leave to get DS to his 18 month immunizations and not have to come back later

So during my run yesterday my lower back and back of my thighs went numb. Google says it might be my sciatica. I have been having SPD pain too. It made it pretty impossible to run through, but thankfully I only had a mile left. I don't like wearing a maternity belt, but I may try using KT tape and see if that helps especially if it starts happening on shorter runs too.

I haven’t had an enjoyable run since 6 weeks. I get a mile in and the vomit starts. Then I got diagnosed with a SCH, so I’ve been really nervous to go more than a few miles even though I’m not on exercise restriction. Now I’m having knee pain even on short runs. I’m using our stationary bike, and then vacation next week, hopefully the rest will help!

I had one of the worst workouts of my life this morning. Nausea, vertigo, and I was trying to power walk on an incline and it felt like I was running at full speed. I had to lower my walking speed from a power walk to a stroll and I still felt like I was going to collapse. And now I'm so exhausted I feel like I can't function. Woof.

peggyhill I'm late to the convo but unless the recall changes or more info comes to light about using the RNP while awake, I plan to use it again. I never use it for sleep, just to hold baby while I'm in the shower or when I was in our building's gym. If anyone wants to get us a bigger gift this time around I'll likely ask for the Bjorn bouncer since it's so popular. I'm not a fan of the sir me up seats or exersaucer or jumparoo since PT/OTs strongly recommend against them or only using 15 minutes per day.

I was having a go around getting my Counsyl results today and finally the nurse called back: very low risk for all and it's a boy! Very excited. Between these good results and my new doctor having no issue with an elective c-section, so much weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Thankfully we still have 27ish weeks to pick a name... it may take longer than that tho. Hope everyone is doing great today! Congrats on a healthy boy!!! Fingers crossed you have an easy time with a name! 😄 Any ideas?

marshian, it seems like that’s the smartest way to go and there are a TON of rock and plays on Facebook marketplace now, most likely because of the recall

I’m getting one this time because I’m very fuck no to not using whatever we can for sleep when needed those first few months. You can use a FSA/HSA for the cost of an owlet if you have one; if you don’t, eBay has new ones listed for better pricing.
