waitwhat and sophiegrace and Cheshie6 Do you guys deal with wheezing as a side effect of the kids and their allergies? I have asthma. And up until now we haven’t had that issue with AB. Even when he was exposed to the dog or eggs etc, he had reactions but not seemingly with breathing issues... or if it was, it wasn’t severe and would go away with a dose of Benadryl. (He did have some breathing issues in September if you recall, he had gotten sick which his pedi thought was RSV but then improved like a couple days later so he said maybe it wasn’t RSV afterall. He thought RSV bc of the fast onset of cough and reluctance to respond to nebulizer) Yesterday we went to MILs and last time we were there he did ok with the dog, granted it was not a ton of exposure. She was in the othe room a lot. But yesterday we didn’t attempt to segregate or limit contact bc of no issue last time. He woke up this morning wheezing. I used my inhaler on him with the spacer and it went away. But he was wheezing again tonight when I came home from work. So I used my inhaler again (he hates the nebulizer and they hadn’t napped so I was just trying to get something in him and get him to bed). What would you do at this point? Would you still just watch it? I feel like I should call the pedi or his allergist, but a) I HATE that he might be looking at an asthma dx and b) I was hopeful it was just a one off and c) I don’t want them to yell at me for self treating (I mean, he has a nebulizer and I have asthma - as does 75% of my anime - I am pretty comfortable in handling it).

kleigh, L hasn’t had any wheezing with his allergies. He has a dog allergy but that is what the daily Zyrtec is for. That is so scary! I would start with your pediatrician but you could start with allergist. I don’t know about you, but when my cousin had asthma, he went to a specialist! So my brother didn’t come with us, he’s suffering from poor circulation in his legs and being developmentally slow, he doesn’t always tell my sister and I what is going on.

kleigh M’s pedi mentioned reactive airway disorder re: all her allergy nonsense and related problems that stem from it. It’ll be a few years before an actual asthma dx can be made and we’re all hoping she’ll grow out of it instead of into it. H’s mom didn’t believe in asthma so he was hospitalized many many times for severe attacks and so we’re always trying to keep an eye on things. Right now at this very point in time it’s the few warm weather days waking up the plants outside that are causing her current flare up. I’m actually sitting next to her sleeping and listening to her wheeze as I type. She’s already on her max Zyrtec dosage though and turns into a rapid raccoon on Benadryl so we’re just doing our best to keep her symptoms manageable.

Oh danib I’m so sorry to hear that news. I’m glad that it’s sounding like one of those best case scenarios within a shitty diagnosis type things. What’s the next step?

Oh danib I’m so sorry to hear that news. I’m glad that it’s sounding like one of those best case scenarios within a shitty diagnosis type things. What’s the next step? She needs to consult with a surgeon. Her doctor said he doesn't think it's bad enough that she'll NEED surgery, but tjat it'll probably be recommended to be safe. I researched it on Mayo Clinic and what I'm seeing on there is that it's localized to milk ducts and it generally doesn't spread to other breast tissue or lymph nodes. So some people will opt to just have the ducts removed plus radiation and save the breast, but that has a slightly higher chance of coming back. The other common option is to remove the breast completely and not even need radiation with that, and in that case you generally don't have to worry about it coming back.

danib, I am so sorry about your MIL! I am glad they caught it early. kleigh, I don't have any advice about the wheezing as B doesn't have that! He does have a cat allergy but it seems to only give him itchy watery red eyes, sneezing, and a runny nose.

I hate that you have to do that and that he has to go through all those emotions away from you.

H is home sick today and I'm WFH. He's so loud with the sneeze-yelling and elephant nose blowing. I may have to destroy him.

Working from home today as well. C still went to my mom's for the morning but I'll pick him up after my noon meeting. Today is actually Gracie's 9th birthday! I didn't stay home just for her but at least I can get some doggy cuddles in. Yesterday I stopped at a doggy bakery and got her a cake. C was really sweet when I told him it was Gracie's birthday, he immediately said "happy birthday Gracie!" and gave her a hug. He loves birthdays now haha.

And honestly sometimes it’s stretched thin even for her. H gets eye rolls, the poor guy. Especially in my current state. The dramatics kill me.

I went through one of those apps to find a deep cleaner and it cancelled on me 30 minutes before the deep cleaner was supposed to arrive. Normally I’d just shrug it off and KOKO, but I instead sent a message to the one person in this area that I know has a cleaner and asked if I could have her info if she was cool with it. And now my house will be getting cleaned every other week for the next few months!!! Best. I’m proud of myself. Not sure why it was always so difficult for me to put the effort into finding someone.

Re wheezing: O wheezes sometimes when he gets sick. So far a few days on the nebulizer clears it up. We named it “nebi” and O actually gets excited when I get it out lol bc we read books while he’s doing his treatment. goldenlove O loves birthdays now too! But I think it’s the cake and singing happy birthday lol. At the party this weekend, after we were done singing he said “one more time!”.

He's always loud lol Like Saturday I was going to try to put Kara down for a nap and he decided to get on the phone downstairs. With all the doors closed, it was like he was in the room. Needless to say, nap didn't happen.

He seems to be handling it well. Worried of course. But we talked about the options and I told him what I was reading on it with regards to high success rate for treatment, not spreading, etc and that seemed to help.

When I was pg with the twins and Wyatt was at peak 2 yo tantrum mode, I got really paranoid that the twins would hear him screaming and get freaked out. lol I hope she chills for you soon.

I'm at work. I had yesterday off so of course I don't want to be here today.
Everyone always says that getting up early gets easier the longer you do it. I'm the opposite. I find that it's getting harder and harder to get up in the mornings.

But, don’t ask me to do stuff that will require me to actually function past 9-10 pm. I’m not sleeping, but I’m also not doing anything that require makeup or real clothing.

We went to a concert on Sunday night and were out until 1am (why I took yesterday off work, gotta recover!) and I was dying! It was like 7pm and I couldn't stop yawning. I would have laid down on the floor and gone to sleep if it wasn't so disgusting. It didn't help that the band we saw and the 2 openers were also very mellow.

My mom took the damn things off, but she reacted poorly to the implant and so she’s lopsided now. My dad didn’t care as long as she was healthy so neither did she. But my sister only got what needed to be removed because she was 36 and vain. To be fair, breast cancer increases her likelihood of getting colon, and ovarian cancers, so they asked my sister if she wanted her ovaries removed too! I think the idea of losing her ability to have more kids (she was done before cancer) scared her into trying again. I’ve seen both. My mom got total removal and her breast cancer still came back!?! So total removal isn’t a sure sure thing either.
