I'm hoping someone else gets to read the report and give me some more information. Until then, I'm avoiding the news because I can't watch the Trump team gloat

What I posted in the other thread (if a mod could abuse and delete that would be fantastic dc2london , enchanted) Ok everyone take a deep breath Muellers done but that doesnt mean its over. There are still open investigations connected to his report. We need to reserve our resources and make sure you take time for you. Its a long road and the fight is going to be ugly. So take care of you and step back when you need. We got this. We flipped the House in 18, we can flip POTUS in 20.

AOC is once again on point and absolutely correct: This is the REAL conversation we need to have as a country. As horrific as this president is, he is a symptom of much deeper problems. Even foreign influence plays on nat’l wounds that we refuse to address: income inequality, racism, corruption,a willingness to excuse bigotry. t.co/wtebX4Tfld— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@aoc) March 24, 2019

I had to do a little gut check a couple of weeks ago bc as much as I want Trump out of the White House, I can not possibly root for the case in which we have a Russian asset in the Oval Office.
And don't kick me off the board, but the prospect of an impeachment terrifies me. I think his people would riot. Literally.

And I actually agree with Comey: the best way to rid ourselves of Trump is at the ballot box. That is a clear case of America standing up and saying that we reject tyranny and corruption.

Agreed. It's the only way. And even then, I'm terrified he a) won't leave, and b), what his base will do.

Rachel Maddows blog is a good read when you feel like the whole investigation was pointless

I mean you can't bring obstruction without proving corrupt intent. How do you do that without testimony

My current theory on subpoenaing Trump is that he knew it would lead to a protracted legal fight, and that would take us too close to the election.

I agree that we need to focus on 2020 and voting 45 out. I'm not convinced that his supporters won't riot even with a legitimate election, but we can deal with that as it comes. It also gives me some closure that Mueller DID take down quite a few people in this investigation who deserve to be in prison.
But man... I just feel gutted. And the D's I know who are all crowing that they just kneeeeeew that nothing was going to come from this can STFU, too.

I still think there is fuckery afoot here.
Mueller punted on obstruction........did he really punt to DOJ though? Shouldn't Congress be able to have their say? I mean my gosh he was on national television saying the reason he fired Comey was to stop any Russia investigation or did I dream that shit?

Like, did 45 wipe his hands of it juuuuust enough to remain "clean"? Because that comment... and the blatant lies about the Russia meeting at Trump Tower... And Junior's up to his damn throat in Kremlin shit... There's no way that Mueller was just like, ok, I'mma pass this off and see what happens.

Matt Miller was unequivocal that punting to DOJ is not how anything at DOJ works. Basically Barr and Rosenstein took it upon themselves to make that call but it was not their call to make. My assumption was that Mueller was leaving it to Congress

He was following the guideline of a sitting president can't be prosecuted. So if theoretically the DOJ hands are tied if they are going to follow that guideline. Therefore its up to congress to determine if there was enough evidence for high crimes and misdemeanors.
While we know the turtle would never allow any hearing, that doesn't mean the House couldn't shed light on it.
Now we are in for the protracted fight between Barr and Schiff, Nadler and Pelosi for the actual report and not just a summarized letter.

If the report is completely exonerating, then they should have no problem releasing it. Full stop.

Trump's lawyer doesn't want Trump's written answers released, says they are confidential: I am shocked. His reasoning is sound as much as it SUCKS. You have to other shoe test it. His client was not specifically implicated in a crime, so why would you release testimony? It goes back to the 5th amendment and not implicating yourself. If the shoe were on the other foot and this were Hillary, would we be yelling as loudly? Yes she isnt a lying conspiring slug but she still has the right to keep those answers confidential if she wasnt being indicted
