brenna, I hear you - I'm sick of cold and snow and everything to do with winter! I went out to the post office today and waking to my car I thought, "Oh, it feels kinda nice out. Maybe it's warm enough to take the kids for a walk later." I looked at the temp and it was only 28°. Apparently it's been so cold that 28° felt warm. That's not right!

It snowed here this morning, too. We've been teased for months - it warms up and looks like spring and then drops back down and snows/sleets. This is why everyone is sick all the damn time.

DD is giving me a helluva time with naps lately. Yesterday she took ONE hour and a half nap and was awake from 1pm-8pm, except for about 5 mins in the car. Ugh! She's back at it this afternoon - immediately starts crying when I try to lay her down. I know she's tired! I'm trying to let her cry a bit, but she'll calm down and seems to be almost asleep for a minute or two and then just starts crying again. At least take a short nap, crabby girl! 😩

Don't hurt me but I'm jealous of the snow. None here this season yet. We've had some nice weather but lots of rain and constantly going from nice mild temps back down to freezing and back up again. Go home Mother Nature, you're drunk.

tbirdlove - Naps are a problem over here too. Got 2 20 minute naps today until I just gave in and laid down to cuddle him while he slept.

Nymeria I'm hoping it's just Leap 5 and not a bigger issue. Fx!

We had a great family day today. Went downtown to lunch and then to Paw Patrol Live. Both kids did great! DD was in heaven because she was held and carried and carted around all afternoon. She got upset at the start of the show, but I just nursed her and she slept through the rest of the it! She was also kind enough to save her blowout for sometime on the drive home. She's a gem! 😄

Took DD bowling for the first time today. I was really surprised how well she did and actually enjoyed it. DS was so good while there and the noise didn't bother him a bit. But it seems like we've hit the distracted nursing stage finally because he wouldn't stay on and I got milk everywhere with him looking all around at people while trying to eat. Fun.

I think we have been getting leap 5 plus teething fussiness the past week or so (although dd's fussiness is nothing compared to when dd1 was this age!). I'll be really surprised if DD doesn't get a tooth or two popping through in the next week or two. This is almost the exact age dd1 got her first two teeth so we'll see if dd2 follows the same pattern.

Ugh, I need to figure out how to get more sleep. DS is waking up a ton, and at least usually going right back down after nursing, but he rolls himself onto his belly and then gets pissed off when he wakes up that way. Add to that mix DD coming into bed with me (in the baby's room) at 2:30am and tossing and turning. Good news is, I think the Zantac is working and he seems like he is gaining weight and eating more. He's not snacking on his bottles like he was and actually taking 3-4 oz at a time, and less fussy while nursing. Going to try and make a lactation appointment for next week to do a weight check, but he definitely seems to be filling out/getting heavier.

I have been looking into preschool for dd1 for next year after remembering tbirdlove saying she went to an open house for one and have found that 1) her birthday is at the end of September and many preschools require them to be 3 by September 15th at the latest and 2) I'm probably too late to sign her up anyways because I didn't realize most of them have already done registration. So I guess we'll see if I can find anything, otherwise she might just get to hang out with me all day, everyday next year.

brenna our age cut-off is Sept 1st here, but with a waiver they can get in if their birthday is before Dec 1st. Not sure what getting that waiver involves, but I know it's a thing. Maybe you have a similar rule where you live. If things are full now, maybe you can get on a waiting list! I was so surprised how early the registration was. I had no idea it was coming up and would have missed it myself had I not randomly stumbled upon the open house info.

Did y'all realize we're already going onto Daylight Savings Time this Sunday?! It seems so early for some reason. But hey, it's one more step closer to spring!

brenna tbirdloveYes, our registration was super early here too. Cut off bday is sept 1st. We have a few different kinds of PreK's though so there are all different dates to remember. We have a free PreK program that you have to hope to get into. Each private PreK facility does their registration differently. We also have a county special choice school lottery with a different date, and then the public school free PreK has their own as well. It's seriously like college. We found out last week that we didn't get into our first choice and #19 on the waitlist. But we did get into a decent one because I randomly heard about their registration and got up early in the freezing cold with both kids to wait for a number. We have one more lottery choice coming up at the end of the month but I'm pretty sure we are sticking with the one we have a guaranteed spot in. It's like college. It's so stressful.

I just realized this morning when they showed the icon on the 7 day forecast during the news. Did they move it up again recently? In high school I remember it being in April, so March 10 seems really early!

Our state's cut-off for school is December 31. So much later than everywhere else I've heard, but at least it means my September boys won't be dealing with being close to the cut-off when it comes time to start school.

I emailed one preschool last night and they said she would be more than welcome to come! Dd2 and I are going to go check it out today. There's probably a mile long wait list though so I'm not getting my hopes up. Our cutoff here for school is September 1st. So dd1 will be one of the oldest in her class. Dd2 was born August 29th but we will most likely hold her back a year unless she really seems ready to start when she's 5. DH, my brother, sister, and I were all born in late August/early September and we all were old for grade. I liked being the oldest for the most part although my 21st birthday was pretty sad because nobody was old enough to come out with me so I went out with my parents! Haha

Both my kids miss the sept 1 cutoff (Oct 21 and Nov 26), I'm not too worried about it. The only annoying thing is paying for an extra year of preschool/pre-k. I don't think we have a school district option in our area.

Something is up with DS. Yesterday when he woke up, he latched on to eat for only a few seconds and then kept having coughing spells and gasping for air. He didn't even make it to the letdown. This happened again at each time I tried to feed him and he was crying because he was hungry and scared because he couldn't breathe. I ended up taking him into the pediatrician after calling the nurse line and they didn't really have answers either but saw it happen first hand. I've tried pumping and using a bottle, feeding him upright. The only thing different is he's been off Zantac for a week and so they gave me a RX for him again. So he's still barely eating now and not having wet diapers like he should. I'm so worried that I may have to go to the ER today.

Poor guy pixiepink24. Any chance he has a stuffy nose and is having a hard time breathing trying to eat? That would be a bummer if it's still reflux, but at least that would give you an answer. I hope things turn around today and you can avoid the ER.

Ugh, DS2 is destroying my nips all of a sudden. The way he's chewing on things I'm wondering if he's messing with his latch because his gums hurt, but it's killing me. Not to mention he has a fantastic habit of turning to look at something without unlatching first. Last night he pulled back to rub his eyes because he was tired and pulled back so far without letting go. I'm going to start using nipple butter again so see if that helps soothe them, but ugh they hurt.
