Raw zucchini ribbon salad with pine nut basil pesto and grilled garlic shrimp Honestly other than that I just eat random vegetables and occasionally chicken because this baby hates me.

I RESISTED THE CAKE AND ICE CREAM! The old Lovo would have never hesitated and maybe had seconds. I am so proud of myself! I'm proud of you too. That is a huge victory. Good job!

How are people feeling today? Holiday weekends really make me stop and reflect about my relationship with food and exercise. Food is a reward for me...a community building exercise...a show of love and affection to friends and family. Thinking about when I make choices to indulge in this context is helpful for me. At least insofar as cutting out the "standing around braless at 10 p.m. pounding milk duds" ... that is not a spiritual activity in the least. Lol. Weekends really put my family of issues in the spotlight. This weekend has been a tough one. I find myself making excuse after excuse to eat the things I want. But I'm trying really hard to not beat myself up over it but plan well for the week and hopefully that puts me into good shape (mind wise) for the weekend. And I always think about what thisbitch said one that to strive for the mindset of I can have anything I want, I can't have everything I want. I find it helps ETA: I meant food issues but family issues sometimes too

Lol.Yes, lol at bolded and yes, I think about this a lot too. I don't feel guilty when I have foods that are really special or part of something special. But I do have way too much random junk food that is not worth the calories and that is where I need to trim from.

Good morning and Happy Memorial Day!
This has been coming up in reflections quite a bit so I am wondering from you all...how are you incorporating your family into this challenge or are you going at it alone?
There is strong research showing how children learn healthy habits from parents so I am interested in hearing from you all what sort of things you do with your kids and or spouse to encourage health and wellness as a lifestyle!

I'm trying to work the family into things more. If I can plan dinners that are complaint, or at least have a bunch of compliant components, then I can introduce healthy foods to the kids and also stay close to on plan. I really enjoy incorporating them into exercise. If I can take them on a long walk or stroller ride, everybody wins. And I tried to do some stretching with my son the other day. It didn't really go well, but we will keep at it.

My girls have been joining me with our stretching in the morning. I am making it a priority to do it before coffee and breakfast so they know I need to do it before they get fed. Ha! On the food front I feel like I'm sitting on an island all alone. H initially implied he would be supportive, but I fear a childhood of horrible food has left him reluctant to try new stuff. The girls have to try no thank you bites.

The nutrition aspect is impacting H and the kids, as I don't want to make separate meals. My toddler like watching me exercise and stretch (when I do it with him around). H thinks it's great that I'm doing this, but isn't as active as he maybe should be. He runs and works out sometimes, but not with any regularity. I'm hoping, though, that my doing WLC will continue to help my family build a base of being healthy.

I only make one meal for dinner so we are all eating compliant. If Dh is home with me when I exercise he does it too. It's also impacting his late night ice cream treat- as he won't have any of I don't join him 😘

Not just for the challenge, but for our lifestyle as a whole, what I do impacts our entire family. My husband started doing yoga to support me in my first pregnancy and never went back. My big kid asked to go to yoga camp this summer bc she sees us doing yoga. She plays tennis and swims bc we do. The little one is already looking forward to being big enough to do those too. Fitness is really important to us, and I want my kids to grow up that way, too.
I also do all of the shopping and cooking, so they basically eat whatever I make for them. That's just another way that I impact my family's choices.
I do want to say to those of you whose partners are not on board- my H wasn't always either. For us, I led the way with this is what I am doing, but you get to choose what you want to do. He came around in time, but with his personality, if I push stuff onto him, he'll push back/ resist it. If I leave it open for him and let him come to it, it works better- but that's just our dynamic and our personalities.

Hi! I am new around here. I am intrigued by this Whole Life Challenge, but I have a couple of questions, hope you don't mind. Are their resources that you would reco for someone just learning? It looks like you all are in the midst of the challenge, could I start mid stream? And can I hang out here? You all seem very supportive.

notmycircus, you're welcome to join us. We're a week into the challenge but it isn't too late to start. And the challenge staff and your team will keep you pretty covered on resources no matter what your level. And the team is the best and most supportive. It's so great to do this with friends.

Thanks thisbitch, I swear this is my last question for now anyway, only cause I have to be somewhere. And this sounds way more pathetic than it is, I have no IRL friends who would do this, on the website I noticed that it is still open enrollment, if I join will they put me on a team? God I sound pitiful.

Thanks, I will be out for the rest of the afternoon but will look at it further when I get home. I really need to read more cause I never sleep 6 hours, and it seems like sleep is one of the 7.

I'm weaning off my ppd meds. About three weeks into the new dosage in the crankiness bitch in the world. Hello today. Hello solo parenting.
I love my kids I love my kids I love my kids. But BACK THE FUCK OFF.
The good news is once I realized it, I started taking self care moves immediately, but that's pretty hard with no back up. Everyone one will be napping today.

Exercise and mobility are done for the day! Thank you Yoga with Adrienne. I'm really excited for our (compliant) dinner tonight. Peppercorn steaks, corn on the cob, and grilled asparagus. Yum.

Good luck weaning off your meds. I'm sure you know this, but take it slow and if you find yourself getting too cranky, check in with your doctor! I had a really rough time weaning down on my anxiety meds during pregnancy, so I feel for you.

I found you guys! I lost this in all the moves.
For compliant meals this week, we are grilling tons of meat & veggies. Super excited for easy summer meals!

You get to pick your own sleep goal. If 6 is your normal, then maybe 7 is a good goal for you, or even 6.5 just to make an improvement.

I just realized how much produce I have that needs dealt with before I leave tomorrow. So...
I just riced my first cauliflower. I am freezing it but super excited to try it out when we get back!
Next on the list fruit smoothie packets, pureed carrots and blanching green beans.

I resisted the ice cream today at the theme park!!!!!
I was supposed to start weaning off ppd meds in August but just went the other way and had them upped a few weeks ago for the first time in 9 mo. Trying not to be discouraged but it feels like a setback

What sort of veggies do you guys grill? We do skewers with zucchini, summer squash, cherry tomatoes, sometimes red peppers. We also grill potatoes in foil packets and also do the occasional grilled asparagus. Any other ideas?

Trying not to be discouraged but it feels like a setback First of all, congrats on the big win at the park! That's awesome. Ice cream is a huge weakness of mine! Hugs on the meds. I can understand it feeling like a setback, but sometimes our body needs something whether we want it or not. Give yourself some grace! Take the meds that you need to help you feel well! ❤
