Random thoughts: The dinner I'm making this lady is much nicer than what I'm feeding my own family, tonight, lol.
B is practicing some "move" in the playroom...he gets a running start and then jumps in the air trying to "kick and punch" simultaneously. He looks like a wounded antelope, but better than C, who is trying to copy but keeps belly-flopping on her Anywhere Chair.
C has started making requests sung to the tune of Baby Shark, which is hilarious. I am really enjoying having such a verbal 2 y.o., I feel like we missed a lot with B at this age b/c of his speech delay, so this is a fun experience.

flamingo, it's interesting S was such a verbal 2 year old. I look back at videos and I can't believe how clearly he spoke. I can say, looking at it from the other side with B - who has made us work so hard for each word - I get so excited each time he says something new. He just started with 3-4 word sentences in the past few weeks and I am so ecstatic each time I hear him express himself. I never really felt that with S b/c it came so easily. I'm not sure I'm making sense with this... but it makes sense in my head.

We worked so hard for those words! Heck, we worked hard for sounds, lol. I think having been through all that with B makes me appreciate the apparent "effortlessness" on C's part. I was just coming back here to mention, have you heard of Daddy Dolls? They are super popular in the military community. Basically you upload a full-length pic of Dad (or mom!) and they create a stuffed 'doll'. IDK if that would help your boys while your H is away for this long stint, but just a thought.

cagoldi Love it, he really is the cutest. nam2013 I would have done the same thing. Enjoy your day off! flamingo You just reminded me that I need to make your famous red velvet cookies for Valentine's Day 😀 Oh, yes! Big hit last year. I just pulled out a recipe for cookie pops that are cinnamon flavored. Very delicious, but much more labor-intensive than the red velvet ones!

FFMC : I had a VERY vivid sex dream last night. No idea who the guy was. So weird. That always creeps me out that we can literally invent a person in our dreams.

I think the towels my mom had when I was growing up, were probably 20 years old. Like, they were thread bare in spots, not plush at all. I hated them, but they still worked, so she would never replace them. I don't want my towel situation to ever get that dire. I don’t know my timeline for replacing towels, but we got a bunch when we got married (some I haven’t used, yet), and a bunch more when kid was born because I preferred those to the typical hooded baby towels (although I had those too) I do have the hand towels towels my mom got from when she got married (so 1974) they are in incredible condition. I keep them as extra in a basket on the kids bathroom.

I bathe every day, no matter what. For me to miss a day I have to be so sick I physically can't. Even in the summer I do not bather the kids daily. We'll wash face and hands at bedtime but that's it. Baths are usually every 3rd day in the winter, every other in the summer. I know we talk about it this every so often, and it always makes me feel like a bath slacker. Am I the only one waiting so long with the kids? I feel like in the summer they need baths more often because of sweat and suntan lotion and sand and whatever else they’re picking up from outside. I bathe the kids every day (Charlie because it’s better for his eczema). I only wash Josie‘s hair every other day, however.

A few nights ago he didn’t want to do bath without his brother and kept calling “Atticus, come here.” And we were so excited! I doubt if anyone else could have understood it, but it was still a big deal.

I do laundry every day, but just recently I stopped doing it on the weekends so that means that today, for example, I did three loads: darks, towels, and Josie’s exterior clothes from preschool because they went outside and she came home looking like mud.

They can go to town and their clothes stay clean! www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01JDH7ESQ/ref=sspa_mw_detail_0?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Kids are bathed every day, daycare is gross and full of germs so I just cannot place them in a bed to sleep on clean sheets knowing that. Others do, that's cool, you do you, zero judgement here. My favourite time of the day is when they are clean, in clean jammies and hop into bed. FFMC: In the summer both kids get stripped at the door when we get home, hands/face washed and clean clothes on for the evening until bath and bedtime. This is me. I cannot put them to bed full of daycare germs. Nope octopus. I bathe daily and cannot get in my bed without a bath, but I work in a hospital setting and always feel like the germs are out to get me besides the million times I wash and sanitize my hands.

I’m so sorry, jewels ! Is he very far or could you swing a day trip to see him every couple of weeks? He is in Chicago, so no day trips. There is a chance he might be able to come home 1 weekend in the middle, but they are on a tight timeline to get this project completed, so they will be working at least 6 days per week so it might not be feasible (right now they have sundays off but may need to add them into the schedule if they fall behind). I was thinking of going to see him. But, honestly, flying out there with both kids, to see him for 1 day, then flying back sounds awful to me.

Thanks for answering my towel questions guys. I have started to wash twice a week because it’s just easier to keep up with folding and putting away if we have less clothes in a load. I use a big towel twice before it goes in the dirty basket, but new washcloths everyday.
I was thinking about just getting rid of most of my towels and buying towels in our new place, but now that I have discovered this, I have to at least get new washcloths ASAP.

Baby girl is right on track and looks great. My blood pressure was a little to high for him. 140/90. So I need to watch it. If it gets any higher I'll have to be on medication. It's been fine every other time so I think it was just nerves of waiting to hear that she was measuring right. I have my glucose test at my next appointment..

Just trying to catch up. Sorry for all the sick kids. Glad you had such a great u/s, peachsmama. Add me to those appreciating the differences in development between their kiddos - and the differences in our own expectations. I'm constantly comparing but the boys are just so damn different. Except for the part where they're both massively uncoordinated. Whoops.

Also hi. Work has been nuts today since walking in to news that we're being acquired by one of our major partners. We're still waiting to see what it means with regards to one of our other major partners, who's one of their main competitors. Aside from getting a forced stock cash-out once the deal ultimately closes (which will make this year's tax woes seem like a walk in the park), work remains more or less status quo for me for the time being. If anything, this may get that other partner - who's been the bain of my existence - off my back a bit. Or so I can hope.
In other news, we have a major storm allegedly coming in tomorrow. Our therapist reached out to reschedule our appointment and we're trying to plan ahead in case daycare and/or school closes early. Could be interesting.

I'm ready for bedtime. Tonight, once I get Cadence down, I'm going straight to bed. I say that every night and then I end up still awake at 12:30.

It's not fair to them and I don't want to make either feel bad as they get older. But it's so hard to not look at the differences. And for sure what I expect from them is different as well.

It’s supposed to get bad here in the afternoon tomorrow so I’m hoping we close early. I’m not sure who is in charge though since the two bosses are off.
I’m at karate and they are already hinting that they will be closed tomorrow which kind of stinks since it’s Dhs night to take him so I’ll have to leave work early Wednesday to take him instead.

So the person who's job I am working left for a promotion to another park. But her H still works here and lives here. So she was in town over the weekend but was working some overtime to help me with some budget reports since as a temporary person I do not have access to everything I need to compile the reports that are due this week. So she came in to use my office (which is her old office). I think the world of this person. She is super kind and genuinely a good person. But I had a thing of lotion that I brought back from Fiji that I had sitting right next to the computer. I use it everyday. It is suddenly gone. I know she had to have taken it because she is the only person who was in here. It is just weird to me. I don't care that much. It wasn't too expensive and I have another one at home. But I guess I just find it odd that she would take it because I would not have expected that from her. That is weird. Could it have been the cleaning people?

I took H to the doctor and she basically couldn’t find anything wrong with her. I think it’s constipation that is making her say her tummy hurts so I’m going to push water and fiber-filled food.
