Morning! Dh had an unexpected day off, I had planned to go into work, but the idea of spending a morning just the three of us was too tempting! We almost never have one on one time with dd, we went for coffee, groceries and cleaned out both bathrooms. I tossed away a complete garbage bag of beauty stuff I never used, but seemed wasteful to toss out. Well I was sick of it. I also cleaned out the medicine cabinet, did some yard work, prepped meals and Dh installed a new bike seat. It was a productive day!

Hi Ladies! Add me to the sick kid club. H and I went to a trivia night fundraiser on Saturday night and lived it up (there was a bar). We had a stressful week, so we had a lot of steam to blow off. So, then of course the kids all got sick the next day and garbage disposal went out. The current state is me sick, with a sick baby who won't sleep and washing dishes in the bathtub. I think I will need another night out after this week too.
Is it just me or has this year been the absolute worst for illnesses? Especially, upper respiratory stuff? Ugh. This winter needs to end already.

I just had a quick phone interview with an HR company for a job close to my house. I don't know how it went, or that I even want the job, but I guess it's good to keep my skills fresh.
Also, FFMC, I grabbed a clearance bra at Target this weekend for $8.50. When I was checking out, I realized it was a nursing bra, but didn't want to embarrass the teenage boy checking us out, so I just bought it, thinking I'd return it. I put it on this morning and it's actually pretty comfortable with good support. So, here I sit, with my nursing bra.

FFMC : I had a VERY vivid sex dream last night. No idea who the guy was. So weird.

LOL mwhip. I still have a nursing bra that I wear under pajamas when we have family over visiting or we visit our families. It’s comfortable and I don’t mind sleeping in it, so I kept it for those situations. Go on.... tgrimes. Did it happen in the sex dungeon? Lol.

dapostrophe look on the bottom of your disposal, there should be a reset button. Are the blades turning at all? If not, they may be stuck on something, so you can take a hex key (aka allen wrench) and turn it manually from the bottom as well. Those 2 steps usually fix any disposal problems we're having. (The disposal should be off when you are doing these things)

Question..: how often do you all replace towels? I noticed last night when I was showering that the washcloth I grabbed had started to get black spots on the corner edges, which I think is mold? Ewwww, I know. I’ve had those since our wedding in 2011. Yeah, probably past time to replace them. My big towels could also use replacing, too.
Also, any preferred towel brands? I don’t like super fluffy washcloths, but I don’t like sandpaper either. The ones we have for our bath are from JCP. They are ok. I bought some from Target a year or so ago for the kids bath and they are ok, too.

Just finished batch #1 and am trying to resist "testing" one I forget how easy these things are...my kind of baking! I'm going to make some more for the kids' class parties for Thursday but these are for the family I'm taking dinner to tonight.

lahdeedah Towels are definitely one of those things I don't think get replaced as often as they should. I don't have a date for replacement, but when they start to get scratchy or smelly, I get rid of them (if there's a local animal rescue to you, they would likely love the donation). They are one of those items that you use regularly, but just never think about. Our towels are from when we got married in 2012, but they have held up very well. They were from Bed Bath & Beyond. I'd like to go get more wash clothes. Kitchen towels I get rid of when they're stained or stinky.

lahdeedah I replace as needed, I guess. Our guest towels are used infrequently so they still feel practically brand-new despite being 3ish years old. The towels in our master are from when we got married in 2012; thanks to moving, etc. we didn't start using them until late 2013. They're still in good shape but I'll probably replace when we move back to FL, the washcloths are getting a bit scratchy. We have two kinds: 1) Nobel Excellence Micro-cotton at (hang onto your hat) Dillards. They've been great--very thick and absorbent but dry fairly quickly. Our guest and kid towels are the Fieldcrest line from Target, it's one of their 'nicer' lines. I've been very pleased with those, too. Very plush and soft. I have blue in the kids' bath and have been impressed that the color has held up so well.

I think the towels my mom had when I was growing up, were probably 20 years old. Like, they were thread bare in spots, not plush at all. I hated them, but they still worked, so she would never replace them. I don't want my towel situation to ever get that dire.

lahdeedah I swear by Nautica towels, I have used them since I left home at 19. Each person in the house has two towels, colour coded obvi, and they get washed 2 times a week. I have replaced ours only once since moving into the house in 2011.

I bought my mom fancy ones, 4 of each towel, Wash cloth and hand towel 2 years ago for Christmas and she adores them. Wont use any of the old ones. But also wont get rid of them 🤦♀️

Hi!
We did the parents' night out thing on Saturday and it worked out great. Both boys fell asleep there, just a little later than usual, and went straight back to sleep when we brought them home at 11.
I'd definitely do it again, but only when MH is around b/c both kids needed to be carried into the car and out of the car.
Also, we went to an early movie and then dinner and drinks after... We saw Glass. Not sure if you guys heard of it, but it is definitely NOT a movie for kids. The family behind us had a 3 -4 year old and a 5-6 year old with them. I couldn't recover. I mean, I let S watch a lot. But I was definitely clutching my pearls at this family. There was a lot in there that I would definitely not let S watch now, or in a few years even... let alone a year or 2 ago!

MH left this morning. This is the long trip I've been talking about (2 months). He put S to bed last night and I guess S started crying and telling him he was going to miss him. MH is distraught. I feel bad, but this is his job, and he knew S was going to take it hard when he took this gig.
The kids are usually fine once they get in a routine, and S, especially, is used to MH being gone. But usually it's much shorter trips, rarely more than a week to 10 days at a time.

A few were stringy, and they were sandpaper-Raquel. I never any different until I went to college and got new towels and realized that that is no way to live. My mom has since gotten new towels, too.

The kids are all off school and Pete took PTO so he could watch them.
He just went over to his dad’s to let them run around. It took him over 90 minutes to get everyone out the door even though I made bottles and packed a lunch...
I’m starting to see that with some of X’s development progressing atypically and Poppy is developing typically, it’s this sort of weird convergence of needs and in many ways it almost feels like having twins.

chrisy01 the rain is killing us here, too. The kids are going nuts and I can’t take the to any indoor play places when they are sick. Solidarity. We have to take them back to Wonder of Dinosaurs and maybe Adventure Playground soon.

The new one is plug in, but the old one was hardwired, so he had to install an outlet. It's a whole thing requiring multiple trips to the hardware store. I'm on my second batch of bathtub dishes now. This is what happens when your plumber has a 9-5 😂
