I need to do this with M, too. She's currently learning her address and my phone #. Our address is so long that I dread this. But I need to start. I was lucky and our address is # birds landing so I could make a sentence out of it. He learned it in 2 attempts once I did that

TW: My cousin and her baby’s daddy were separated and the daughter went to his house on the weekends. One Monday morning, she got a call from DC around noon saying that they never showed up. Nobody would answer his phone, so my cousin got over there to discover him dead. The baby was three at the time (16 now) and she remembers it. 😐 Horrible but thankfully that kid was at daycare and not alone with your cousin No, she was at home with her dad. In the house with him, dead, for at least 24 hours. He had gone up to take a shower and just jerked over out of the blue.

lfig I'm sorry you didn't get something more concrete. I hope the infusion therapy will help. guster I have had that same worry; I try to avoid doing super risky stuff when I'm home alone (esp. when H is out of town) but obviously accidents happen and some things can't be avoided! I'm sorry your H wasn't more helpful. Glad you are ok, though! B knows our address, my phone #, and we've role-played calling 911. He also knows that he could go to three of our neighbors, too. When H is out of town, my mom checks in daily if she doesn't hear from me. Also, this is kind of silly but we have a 'secret code'. Theoretically, if an intruder was lying in wait when I get in, I would tell him I need to call my mom so she knows I got home ok, and I use the *very innocuous* secret code, and she would know something was wrong and could call the police. Yes, this is what happens when your mother is a policeman's daughter, lol. Steel Magnolias is so good--definitely a tear-jerker, though!

We have nothing memorized, but she and mh were playing the other day and she told him she would call 911 for him, then proceeded to have a pretend 911 call on her pretend phone. So MAYBE she could do it if she needed to.

flamingo , we were trying to come up with a secret code a few months ago. We went through a lot of ridiculous suggestions and never came up to an agreement. We need to revisit it with MH and I deciding and just telling the kids what it is after-the-fact.

Cass got a badge to sew on her uniform for being able to do the splits. I bed she's thrilled. She worked on it for months and is happy to show off all the time. When I asked her about her favorite part of TKD she told me stretching. Lol.

I'm glad you're ok! I think of these things all the time... like I'm home with the kids and choke, have an aneurism, heart attack, ect. Terrifies me! Ours is what my mom used when she was a young mother herself and my dad travelled all the time: “it was great to see {relative} tonight!” (said relative lived in Ohio and has since passed away, so. 😂😂 )

We are at ice skating lessons. E feels the need for speed but not the need to learn how to stop. He also complained about getting chocolate milk for dinner then cried when I took it away.

It is so cold here that USPS is not delivering mail tomorrow. That is insane. Everything is closing.

T has known our address for a while. Last time we were in Disney, every time someone asked where we were from, he gave them our exact address. He gave me trouble about learning our phone number until H told him he was not allowed to use his xbox until he knew it. He had it by the end of that day. We taught him the house line though which no one uses so it’s pretty useless anyway.

When MH was out of town for two weeks in December, i was driving to work and i all of a sudden thought about what if i get into a car accident and was unconscious. What would happen to O when he took the bus home expecting me and Z at day care when i didn’t show up. I suddenly had a lot of anxiety thinking about that. I thought this was #relevant to the 911 talk.

Colin knows our address but in the case of an emergency IN our house, he'd have no idea what to do. Definitely need to address that.

snoopmommymom your dc should have an emergency contact that isn't you or your husband if you don't show up and they can't reach you on your cell.

snoopmommymom your dc should have an emergency contact that isn't you or your husband if you don't show up and they can't reach you on your cell. They do of course but it’s just random friends or neighbors. It made me realize i should be more thoughtful about who i list on those forms and make sure those people know what’s going on in our lives (ex: H out of town).
