Morning! My forced no spend January is almost over! Payroll has been completed at work and I should receive both of our back pay deposits sometime between tomorrow and Friday!
We barely survived the night last night with 3 outside dogs inside! One was in a crate. But the 2 labs were on the loose. The puppy peed 2x (which of course I stepped in) and chewed up a few things. Nothing important, just annoying. I am looking today at a few local places for another crate for the puppy to stay in tonight in the house. We have not one, but two, at our place in Arkansas that MH was supposed to bring home and forgot. Java our momma dog is a perfect inside. She doesn't go to the bathroom, doesn't chew anything, and just lays down and sleeps all night and lounges all day. She's an angel. But her spawn....puppies are a lot of work. I prefer dogs once they are about 2 years old!

Morning. I’d give anything to crawl back into bed and stay warm today. My poor dog refuses to go outside and it’s only going to get colder. All schools and several businesses are closed today and tomorrow. Luckily, daycare is open so I’m at the office. I don’t think I’d stay sane stuck at home for 2 days in this weather.
The only thing keeping me going is knowing it’s going to be almost 40 on Saturday.

Morning! I'm working from home with the storm coming because there's really no reason to go out in the elements right now. Plus I only work with 1 person locally and she's on vacation, so it doesn't make much of a difference. Chase's cough has been awful again. His teacher described the class as a symphony of coughing and they just had the first flu diagnosis of the season. We're both a bit concerned that he's heading that way though he's relatively energetic (considering how badly he's sleeping) and hasn't been feverish. The last thing we need in our house right now is the flu - I feel like DH's sanity is hanging on by a thread as it is. I'm trying to help as much as I can where I can (i.e., where it doesn't make him uncomfortable) and it seems to help a bit, but there's just no getting around that this stinks. Colin's best friend at school has been out sick since last Thursday. I hope he's back soon - Colin usually eats at the peanut-free table with him and his twin brother so he's been sitting with the other boys in his class in A's absence. We have to keep warning him about potty talk and just mean talk in general. Get better soon, A!!!

Would it be totally insane to buy a vacation home and is more expensive than your regular home?

Would it be totally insane to buy a vacation home and is more expensive than your regular home? Not if you plan to spend a lot of time there! And not if you plan to make some $$ off it through like airbnb or something!

Would it be totally insane to buy a vacation home and is more expensive than your regular home? I would think it depends. Is it a place you can afford and will go to often OR a place that will generate a ton of rental income? I could see justifying it in those scenarios. ETA: Apparently lfig and I share a brain

Would it be totally insane to buy a vacation home and is more expensive than your regular home? I think it can make sense depending on the area, and/or if you want to rent it out when you aren’t using it. My parents’ friends did this recently. They downsized in FL, then bought a beach house in MA for almost double the price of their main home. Completely different markets, the FL house is still much ‘fancier’ than the vacation place. My parents’ situation was the opposite; their lake place was probably about a third their FL house’s value when they purchased it, but they’ve made improvements and the market went nuts up there so it’s probably closer in value to their main house now. They could cover the annual mortgage/taxes by renting it for six weeks in peak season. It’s nice having the option to recoup some costs if you need it. ETA: can you still write off a vacation home for tax purposes? That is/used to be a major draw, I know.

Morning Ladies! Add me to those with dogs who refused see to go outside. Yesterday he and the kids romped in the snow all morning, but you had to literally drag him into the cold this morning.
Last night I was whining about not wanting to leave the couch for a therapy appt (my last one). I bundled up, warmed up the car, drove for 30 mins and right as I was pulling into the street, I got a text notification confirming my appointment...for tonight.🤦 I ended up rescheduling, but mentally that was my last one, so I am dreading dragging it out until next week. Oh me.

Would it be totally insane to buy a vacation home and is more expensive than your regular home? For me it would matter on how many times I would be able to go there during year, proximity to the ocean, and if the 2nd mortgage would infringe on my every day life style.

Sending get well vibes to all the sickies. Good luck today cagoldi. Fingers crossed chrisy01. slenle I cannot even fathom that kind of cold. Brr! Nothing too exciting here. I'm at work and MH is home sick. Last night everyone bailed at TKD except for me and this new kid. We kicked the bag which I like. I had to practice spin kicks. It's not graceful or pretty. This large ass body of mine doesn't like to spin.

Oh my slenle, I can't even imagine. Like, it's going to be cold here tomorrow, schools are already cancelling, but I'll still be able to get out, just not feel my face. Our high for tomorrow is 2, it will be in the mid 50s this weekend. Go home January, you're drunk.

I honestly don’t remember ever having temperatures this cold. They say it last happened in the 90s.
But really, once you get negative, there doesn’t seem to be much of a difference between -10 and -50. Lol. Cold is cold. Maybe I’ll think differently tomorrow though!
I did grab the handle on the daycare door with my bare hand and it was so cold it felt like a burn. Not cool.

Morning all. Life is going at a snails pace this morning. Blerg. I brought my portable hard drive to work today to organize some things and got a bit side tracked and am looking at all my past vacation photos. Currently reliving my Europe 2007 trip. In the words of the majestic Cher

GL this morning, chrisy01! Is the management position with that team something you're interested in? Hoping the littles are feeling better today - tgrimes, cagoldi, lahdeedah. I would enjoy working with this team. Is it my dream position for the company no. But it’s a step in the right direction.

It’s still not done. But the team I’m helping just let me know a manager position just opened and they would love me to apply for it. Do it!

Emailed the dc this morning. Apparently yesterday afternoon Cadence got hit in the back with a rock. Some kid in another class was throwing rocks. I asked Cadence if she cried and she said yes, but I heard it from her, the teacher never told me anything about it. I asked if the other kid got in trouble and she said the teacher told her she would get a timeout when they went back inside. I looked at Cadence's back when we got home and there were a couple of red marks, but nothing serious. I'm just not happy no one told me about it(Cadence told me when we were driving home). I have yet to hear back from the dc. Really, it was more of an FYI there is rock throwing going on on the playground, so I guess it doesn't necessarily need a response, but I would like one so that it at least acknowledges receipt of said email.

My sister came over to watch Miss P so she didn’t have to go to therapy and I can get some work done. Thank goodness.
I feel awful because I snapped at Atticus a bit this morning. If there’s one thing I know I am doing well with, it’s having patience and never yelling. But I definitely raised my voice a bit because he just was not getting ready for school despite being asked 83 times. I have to do a better job of making sure conditions are right for him to be successful, so his toys will have to be off limits until he’s gotten himself completely dressed, brushed his teeth, and finished breakfast.

FX everything goes smoothly today, chrisy01. How’s it looking so far? They are functional but it’s not at 100%. Apparently that was the game plan? He had an extra 3 months and couldn’t resolve it?
