Snow day for us today! We got 10ish inches so school was canceled and even though we will have to make it up in May I was still thrilled to be home. I *thought* DD1 was completely better and we went outside for like 15 minutes to play in the snow. She has an awful cough and a fever again. Mother of the year here I suppose. DD2 seems fine and no more puke since yesterday. Super picky eater right now but toddler be toddlin’ and all that.

danvers Send a bit of that snow my way! We’ve barely had any all winter and I can still see the grass on my lawn. Solo parenting until Wednesday, I think DD1 is getting sick. Her class is having an outbreak and I think she’s caught it. I had a light workload this morning so I got to take care of some personal things and booked myself a spa day. DH got me a gift certificate to a fancy one in the city and I’m finally going to use it. So excited!

I need to actually do work today but I'm trying very hard to just play video games on my PC instead.
Unfortunately (fortunately?) for me, the PC is hardline blocking me by not opening any of my pc games. It knows...

Hi! I thought today was Wednesday. Ugh.
DS2 finally got promoted to the big kid 1 year old class! He even gets outside recess time and never wants to come in. Livin’ his best life. It’s supposed to just creep into the high 20s this weekend. I am wishing for snow.

Happy Wednesday everyone! Two sick kids here and DH is currently en route home. I can’t wait to go to hockey tonight to get away! DD1 is currently collecting blankets and arranging chairs for some sort of fort/secret lair... she’s not fighting with her sister so I’m just letting it happen.

I need a sleep vacation. like 2 days. sleep. uninterrupted. curmudgeon, daycare sends me pictures of M and some of them are from playing outside. it is soo cute. is it wrong to say i can't wait for the summer? i need warmer, longer days.

LO has become very interested in what I'm eating. Now I have to be super secretive or share my snacks with TWO kids.

curmudgeon yea big kid classroom! Our 1s/early 2s room only does stroller walks outside - so jealous of the outdoor play yours gets! He is livin the best life indeed! August Blooms hope the sick kiddos recover soon. I’d blanket forts are what it takes for sibling peace - it’s a small price to pay. Hope the quiet lasts! codex320 let me know when that sleep vacation is because I will join you. I just want a quiet place to sleep uninterrupted all by myself for a few nights. Apparently that is a lot to ask for... who knew this would be my dream at 30 😉😂 CoachTsWife I get it with the snack sharing. DD1 was super picky and wanted nothing to do with my meals or snacks. DD2 wants everything, from coffee to chips to hot salsa and is pissed when you don’t share 🤦♀️ I have taken to eating some snacks while doing chores and hoping they don’t notice I’m eating and emptying the dishwasher

How has my day been you may be wondering?
Well, we had our 15mo well baby visit today where the pedi told me my kid should have ~4 words (loose use of words imo) and doesn't. Should be walking and isnt. And when my H came home, he asked if the dishes in the dishwasher were clean and when I said yes he proceeded to put the dirty bowl in the sink and walk away.

Long story short DD2 is sick again. Influenza A. So this would be the 2nd time she’s gotten the flu in 4 months (with a flu shot in n their for good measure too!). I’d say I’m surprised but at this point I’m just jaded.
Doctor is going to refer us for something to do with hemoglobin testing (????) I’m glad others are recognizing that she is sick all the dang time. We can’t do testing until she’s recovered from the flu but I’m happy to know we might get some answers sooner rather than later with her.
Aside from vomiting once each night and no appetite she is pretty much her normal, happy, ornery self. Today was her best day yet so FX tonight no vomit. She hasn’t had a fever at all week. Doctor said we can thank the flu shot for milder flu symptoms. So PSA for flu vaccine and all that shit

We have zero words and an EI eval sometime in Feb. I have no advice on the walking but I am sure it’s frusterating. Yes babies develop on their own timeline and all that jazz but still. Ugh. If can be easy for you to hear that today because duh you want her walking and she’s not and the doctor telling you that isn’t actually helping. Did s/he have suggestions ? My H will do the same thing with his bowls and 😡🤬😡

I'm not sure if I will call them, I mean I likely will but we can't pay OOP for that stuff right now. She has mama, but everything else is mama too. Dada? Mama. Milk? Mama. Kitty? Mama.

Oh my danvers, your poor kiddo! And you. So sorry she is sick again! cythe, no advice on the walking front but the speech thing I can help with! Would you be open to some strategy ideas/suggestions from a total internet stranger? PM me your email address and I can send you some stuff for early language stimulation if you’d like! I can’t diagnose over the internet of course, but I would expect at least 4-5 words at this age, by 18 months I want to see a minimum of 15-20 (ideally 20+). Words at this age don’t need to sound exactly like the target. DS for example says Bapa for Papa (my dad) and Daydee for Sadie (our dog). If the production is consistent and is obviously referring to something specific then it’s a word Oh. And MAJOR side eye to your H. One of my hugest pet peeves is DH sitting around while I am running around cleaning etc. He knows that and has gotten better but I do wish the mental load of it didn’t always fall on me. Like, if the dishwasher is clean and you notice, empty it. You vacuum weekly, I shouldn’t have to say “today would be a good day to vacuum” 🙄

Also AF showed up last night. My ovulation strips should be delivered tomorrow so we will try for the next 2 cycles. If I don’t get pregnant then we’ll take a break for a couple months to not interfere with our family vacation.

Oh danvers I'm so sorry. I'm glad your doctor is finally going to run a few tests to see why your poor babes has been so sick. Thinking of you guys ♡ Also, I'm glad it's at least a milder form of the flu

cythe, I don't have any helpful advice, but I can imagine how frustrating it must be. Would an orthopedic dr not be covered by your insurance? danvers, so glad to hear they're going to run some tests on your girl. I hope that sheds some light and can give them ideas to help her. Poor girl. doodlemommy, totally with you on the mental load. I wish I knew why it is so hard to notice something that needs to be done. DH is good about doing things when I ask, but I get tired of having to ask. Never mind the fact that I've been doing nearly everything for the past month and a half due to his back injury and surgery. My mom was over last night and could tell how frazzled I feel and said, "you need a spa day". No. I do not. I need a day where no one needs anything from me.

danvers, i'll let you know! I'm glad to get at least 7ish hours of sleep per night but sometimes in the morning i just want to lay in bed. cythe, what kind of insurance do you have? we have to pay OOP until we meet our deductible which sucks. i hope they can cover some of the bill. CoachTsWife, it sounds like we all need a sleep vacation. hah. or just a whole day to ourselves. how is your H recovering? i hope everything is almost back to normal.

CoachTsWife codex320 we have Tricare which is hit or miss on what "specialists" it covers, so I basically never know what I have to pay for and what is $0. I'm going to call and at least ask, but I'm not holding my breath. The doc really made it sound like it was a shot in the dark anyway.

cythe, a shot in the dark as far as coverage? or as far as the ortho helping? i would call your insurance and ask. maybe the doctor can lower the bill if they know something isn't covered.

CoachTsWife , it sounds like we all need a sleep vacation. hah. or just a whole day to ourselves. how is your H recovering? i hope everything is almost back to normal. He was cleared to return to work, so he went back to work this past Wednesday. But he still has a 5-10 lb weight restriction on lifting, which means he cannot pick up LO. I don't even think the baby would want him MOTN because he has become such a mama's boy recently. I'm so tired of doing every single MOTN wake up. These darned molars might be the death of me, he's such a hot mess. DS1 handled teething so much better.
DH doesn't have another appt until the end of February, so his weight lifting restrictions are in place for at least another 6 weeks.
I'm fine. It could be much worse. I'm just tired and could really use a break, but who couldn't?

She was referring to it being an orthopedic issue. Basically she said "well, maybe it is a tight Achilles tendon or leg muscles?" which doesn't inspire greatness haha.

codex320 I can’t wait until the weather gets warmer. Right now I wake up and it’s dark and I pick the kids up from daycare it’s dark. And it’s hard to go outside and play with no snow and it being super cold. 2.5 more months until April. CoachTsWife I think your at the top of the list for getting a break. You’ve had a rough go of it and deserve it. danvers Glad to see your dr is running more tests on your DD2. You guys have been though so much sickness. cythe That’s sucks being stuck on setting to get help for your kid and not being able to afford it. Hopefully you can work something out.

So many sick kids! danvers cythe August Blooms codex320 I hope they are on the mend soon. It’s so hard dealing with the sickness and the worry and the waking up at night. Ugh. cythe I hope you get some answers about E or that she starts catching up soon. Maybe she will surprise you! She is such a cute and happy little girl. DS has a cold and I keep forgetting to get some of his favorite cough drops. Mom of the year here. DD had a low grade fever over the weekend and a sore throat but she seems to be on the mend now. She’d been fighting bedtime too but we pushed her bedtime back an hour and we watch some videos before bed to calm down and that seems to be helping. Thank goodness. I took the day off to get my hair done and get eyelash extensions. Super excited! And we have a date night Sunday for my b-day. Then I’m traveling next week for work so DH has the kids on his own. 😬
