We are in a big time sleep regression phase and it suuuuucks. Just sleep kid, I know you’re tired.
DH took DS to swimming and I’m trying to get the little one down for a nap so I can eat some lunch. I have leftover Cheesecake Factory 😀
So I had lash extensions put on Thursday, yeah don’t do that. My eyes hurt so bad. I think I got an infection. The nurse at urgent care didn’t really know for sure but gave me antibiotics anyway. It was a really nice place too, I’ve had laser hair removal done there a bunch of times. 🤷♀️

We aside from the peeling, the seat area is cracking and there is a hole in one spot... I’m worried the baby will get stuck. 😬 We haven’t had time to go shopping for a new one and I’m debating on just ordering a cheapish one online and just being done with it. Same problem here, that and there’s so many other things we need to spend money on. Like a new fence so the dogs stop running into the neighbors yard. Oops.

doodlemommy Noooo! Poor baby. Hopefully hes back to his cheery self. They are so accident prone at this age. August Blooms...OMG! I just noticed, is that a BB that baby’s holding? It’s practically a relic 🤣 also I vote for cheap couch until the kids grow out of destruction age. I cringe everytime DS accidentally rams his cars into the furniture 🤦🏻♀️ Our wood floors in the dining will be completely destroyed in about 10 yrs time 😫😡

Yesterday I picked up a big piece of flank steak for $3!! I feel like a bandit. Now I can’t wait to tuck in to the rope vieja for dinner tonight. I’m also sending a plate to my neighbour since I made a huge pot of it. Just waiting for the black beans and quinoa to cook instead of the usual Moros y cristianos. #tryingtobehealthy. 🤣 #tastyoldclothes 😬

I had 2 jalapeño margaritas with dinner. Those combined with my surprise spicy food and I could hardly eat it. So I got tipsy fast and now I’m starving bc I forgot my leftovers on the table. And it was so good! I’m bummed.
Then I almost peed my pants on the way home. It snuck up on me.

Oh and the wind blew a tree over in the backyard, narrowly missing the swingset. Thank goodness no old trees are close to the house. This wind is insane.

Another bad AQI day, so we’ll be inside today. Fortunately yesterday was okay, and the kids got to play outside for a big part of the afternoon. Our neighbors had a bounce house set up for their kid’s birthday party, and DS1 bounced out all his energy. DS2 also loved walking around the bounce house before the other guests arrived. Once the bigger kids came, however, I took DS2 out. Didn’t want him to get munched in there!
Play date at an indoor play area (with air purifiers) later this afternoon- should be fun!!

13 inches of snow here so far and we will be getting more on and off until this afternoon. I assume we are done with the worst of it, however freezing rain is coating everything now.
Nice. Should be fun to shovel.

curmudgeon glad the tree missed the play set. Did you get any snow with the weather? (Didn’t know if it was the same system slamming the Midwest and northeast) Taitai there’s a local-ish mall here that has a bunch of inflatables set up and kids can pay to jump. They have a special toddlers only bounce area for 2 and under and DD2 loved it. They really are the perfect way to get energy out. cythe our county is on a level red travel warning so emergency vehicles are the only ones out. We got 7 inches? But it’s the ice under the snow here that’s the issue.

danvers I think this is from the same system in the north but we are so far south we don’t get snow. Even though it dropped us from 70 degrees to 34. Just cold and 40mph wind gusts. Driving is fun!

We are stuck inside today. It's -7 degrees I think with wind chill right now plus we are under a travel warning so emergency vehicles are the only ones supposed to be on the road. I'm hoping for a school cancellation tomorrow because now that both girls are healthy again, it's fun to have weekends to play. DD2, when healthy, is so silly and wants to do every single thing her big sister does. Yesterday it was playing dress-up with DD1's princess dresses and this morning it was playdoh. The girls love playdoh and it easily buys me 30 minutes to an hour for me to do something. DD1 wants to bake cookies later and I *think* we have the supplies to do so after DD2 wakes up from her afternoon nap.

bootsorhearts1 I hope your eye is better. That does not sound fun. @duskymonky Yes it an old BB, a relic 😂 It went for a swim a few years ago so we let the kids play with it.

+ 1 To the winter storm hitting us. We didn’t get it as bad with snow as they we originally forecasting, I think we maybe got 10cm but the wind has been bad and it’s about -30 with the windchill.
I got whatever flu the girls had earlier this week and it sucks. I’ll probably take tomorrow off since it seems to be a multi day illness and tricks you into feeling better and then comes back again for another day.

I think I am going to try DS on one nap this week. He is often taking only a short afternoon nap and it sometimes takes forever to get him down. On Sundays he only gets one nap because of church timing and commitments and it goes ok. DD has ballet during his morning nap on Tuesday anyways so I think it’s worth a try!

To let yall know what kind of people we are:
H and I play a crossword game before bed each night. One of the clues tonight was "end goal in NHL season _____ Cup" so I said "Stanley"
H types in "StanLee"
No, dear not Stan Lee, Stanley.

Today of course I had planned something for after DD’s preschool in the previously good between nap window. So I had to put him down for a morning nap or he wouldn’t make it. Went down no problem but mornings are never the issue so we’ll see how he does later I guess 🤷♀️

Are the little ones not eating the play doh? My kid still tries to eat paper. Or magnets. Or the floor.

I'm doing mostly one nap for LO. My babysitter does 2 usually, about 30 minutes in the am and then a longer pm nap. Idk what her magic is, but he is such a bear to get down when we do 2 naps, so we're going with 1 when we're home unless he wakes up ultra early in the morning. curmudgeon my LO also eats paper. And Kleenex. And cardboard from boards books. 🤦♀️ My mom did playdoh with both boys last week, she had to keep a pretty tight reign on LO.

Aaaand I just got home with the baby after he puked at daycare. He has a low fever too. Hoping it’s nothing big and passes tomorrow. He’s super happy and playful though! So at least he doesn’t seem to be miserable.

We just switched to 1 nap a day. We follow her lead and that seems to be what she wants now, usually 2 hours+ which is nice 👍🏻
I’m traveling the rest of this week, already miss the kiddos! And not looking forward to pumping. 😒

We leave tomorrow for a long weekend trip to see elephants in the north! I’m pretty excited about taking the kids to the mountains - it’s cooler up there and the air is cleaner than in the city. In addition to feeding elephants and watching them hang out, we’re going to do some strawberry picking. If we get enough, we’ll fly home with a bunch and make freezer jam.
Strawberry season is so short here (and only happens in the mountains), but they are so tasty and fresh when they are ripe! Looking forward to seeing the kids trying out that activity. The farm where we are going also doesn’t use pesticides, which makes me feel better in case they eat some berries while picking. 👍
