The one thing that concerns me about Kamala is her getting hammered on Criminal justice from the right AND the left

Hey you know who is a woman AND from a rust belt state? Now, I might just go to the mat for Amy.

Hey you know who is a woman AND from a rust belt state? She is one of my favorites for a place on the ticket. I think she is level headed and not a big enough name to where people already have an opinion about her. I think moderates and anti Trump Republicans could get on board with her. I love Harris but I live in a red state and I don't know if people are ready for her. I would love to see her kick Trump's ass in a debate though. I also think she's doing a great job in the Senate and would continue to do so. Brown would be great but then wouldn't a Republican have to nominate someone to replace him? I'd hate to lose a progressive in the Senate. I really like Beto and his energy and ability to connect with people. Beto and Klobuchar would be my fantasy ticket.

I feel like a Klobuchar/Brown ticket could get a lot of support from both the Dems and more moderate Rs. Or even Brown/Klobuchar but I'm ready for a damn female president already.

What are people's thoughts on Sen. Hirono? I haven't dug enough into her record, but I do like what she has to say lately.
Also have no idea if she would run, but I remain intrigued by her and the possibility.

I really like her though

I like her, though and think she has a spine of steel, but she comes across as soft-spoken a lot of the time. She would be an interesting counterpoint to his blustering in a debate. ETA: And as pointed out above, she is a naturalized citizen. I had forgotten.

Ah, I see. That's unfortunate (the cancer and that she couldn't run even if she did want to).

The one thing that concerns me about Kamala is her getting hammered on Criminal justice from the right AND the left But I think as a former prosecutor, criminal justice is where she wins the moderates. She’s the proof that “law and order” isn’t racist Trumpism shit, and also that justice for all isn’t “anti police” I am biased, but I think a former prosecutor is the way to go. They all won me over in the Brett hearings- Harris, Whitehouse, Klobuchar. To me, it’s a great balance. I know he’s not running for anything but Preet is one of my idols for how he balances law and order, justice, and law enforcement issue.

This is where I am. It's unfortunate because Kamala would be an AMAZING president. I don't know what the answer is. Brown/Harris? This team, in either order, is basically my dream team. I love them both.

I wish I could find the source but I read someone make the point that criticizing Harris on her criminal justice record starts to go down a path where you almost discourage people of color to take jobs in law and order fields because they will be seen as too much part of the broken system. But really what we need to do is have people of color help change the system from within (along with mass dismantling of unjust system and white people changing too).
Anyways, I just think I will be skeptical of anyone who criticizes her on her criminal justice record and doesn’t cite actual factual policy decisions she made when she was in power but just gives a vague “well she was a DA and a an AG” kind of answer.

I want to say it was in response to Shaun King. I know I've seen him post that he is not a fan of hers. (or I dreamed it)
But yes, she was working within the system and the systems parameters. At some point we have to realize everyone is going to be somewhat problematic and unless we change the law to elect a 15 year old, we're gonna have people without spotless records. (and even then)

People want an idea not a person. Good luck with that. Even Obama isn't perfect. He made some decisions I didn't like. But I'd still vote for him again in a heartbeat

What's going to be the Dems' version of the clown car? Mystery Machine? And I would have gotten away with it too...

I didn't know much about Rep. Gabbard. Holy yikes.
But, maybe she will take away some Bernie voters?

Not touching the Tulsi Gabbard thing. I will. I'm not a fan. Did you see her criticize Mazie Hirono the other day? link And shall we discuss her trip to Syria and on the down low meeting with Assad? link She's beloved by the Bernie bros so I can guess they'll go hard for her if for some reason Bernie doesn't end up running.

Oops, I see hawkeye2015 already mentioned some of the problematic aspects of Tulsi. The tweet didn't load for me until after I already posted.
