I'd love to see Andrew Gillum or Stacey Abrams as VP. I knew there were rumors of Warren talking to Gillum. I'm hoping we will see gender and/or racial diversity on the ticket.

I genuinely have no idea who her supporters will turn to. I mean we aren't a monolith, but who even will get a large share of her voters? I have no idea who is my number 2. I mean I like a lot of Warren's plans but she's very out of touch with voters of color to be downright harmful. I just don't know. H is still on the Pete train but no way in hell is he getting my vote in the primary Can you expound on this? I'm genuinely interested in knowing what you mean.

This is where I fall.
Like someone else said, I don't understand how Tulsi or others can have the money but Kamala didn't. Was Kamala spending significantly more than the other current second tier candidates? I wonder if she was really in it to win versus some of the others who have other motives for having their name out there. Maybe like some of those articles indicated, just having her name out there if she didn't have a real shot was actually detrimental to her overall career.

I would love to see Castro pick up Harris supporters, and some momentum. He’s been my top pick for a bit and I’d love to see him pull ahead. I know it’s the longest of long shots though. I’m still very disappointed that Harris is out, just trying to find some silver lining.

This is kind.
I am stunned that Kamala Harris is suspending her campaign. She is one of my favorite people to share time with on the trail. So warm, smart, fiery and a true public servant. She offered my family help and guidance when she didn’t need to. Kamala I will see you soon.

I don’t think Biden will select Kamala as a VP pick. I just don’t. the phrase 'not a chance in hell' comes to mind.
If I have to hazard a guess, IF he got the nom, he'll pick Pete. young vital white man.
I think he def picks a woman or a person of color or someone who is both like Stacey or Kamala. He has to goose turnout.

Kamala had staffed a full org because at one point she was a leader. Tulsi just has her husband and her using all the Republican or Russian money.

I have never seen E Warren elicit outrage or bad vibes from black voters. There are so many other richer targets like Pete for that.

I have never seen E Warren elicit outrage or bad vibes from black voters. There are so many other richer targets like Pete for that. Some KHive were pretty against her because of perceived theft of Harris policies and slogans. And I’ve seen her fragility and always the victim status noted as things people don’t like. And I’ve seen twitter comments about her all white crowds in cities that are diverse. Idk. I don’t think she has a lot of support amongst non white voters but certainly more than Pete. (And for good reason). I do follow a couple of Black women for Warren on Twitter so I’ll be watching their takes. I have mixed feelings and am going to see how I feel in a bit. My thoughts on her are not kind right now, but I’m raw.

I think I used too harsh of language there. Maybe not harmful, but she has been dismissive when asked questions about race issues, which doesn't give me a lot of confidence. Such as when she sidestepped when asked about Iowa and New Hampshire being the first voting states and their lack of diversity.

Ok last one, I promise, I just love this so much. So many of us who fought for her are ready to lay down and cry and she's out there starting a Cupid Shuffle. (I think the black Converse are new though, she has always worn white when I've seen her)

I’m sad that the rest of the country doesn’t get to experience that joy.

I feel like she is so authentic and she’s of an age where she is comfortable showing it. (Vs the generation before her that has always had to be so professional to be taken seriously, which always plagued Hills a bit). Smart and fun and empathetic is what I look for in a leader and she is all of that and then some.

Such as when she sidestepped when asked about Iowa and New Hampshire being the first voting states and their lack of diversity. Yeah I don’t think harmful but not helpful either. Like she really doesn’t have a track record of any kind of civil rights work. And she doesn’t answer questions directly now. The primary thing she said “I’m just a player in the game” but now she’s all forceful about ending the electoral college which would be even harder for her to influence. And then with the protestors at her speech in Atlanta she had no idea how to handle that. She had to turn to Ayana Pressley for help. I think performative ally comes to mind. Or ally versus accomplice. Like she might say the right things but will she really fight for Black and Brown people when the work gets hard? Or will she say what she thinks they need or want to hear? But, all that aside...it’s not for me to say. I’ll be watching her campaign and who is supporting her closely. If she can gain BIPOC support I will be interested.

It wasn't a great answer and agree it was dismissive in tone. (Although I do think any of the candidates who are in the running for a 1st, 2nd or 3rd spot in those states aren't likely to come out right now and say that they shouldn't be the first states.) I was wondering if there was more beyond that. I've been having a hard time tracking everything lately with work so I could definitely have missed stuff.

I definitely don't have any answers, but I read all of Astead's articles and this one did make me pause.
