I had read several weeks ago that Harris was going to have to make a decision soon, given the timing of the California primary and her polling there. The scenario was that if she did ran and did badly in her home state, that opened her Senate seat up for a lot of challengers, and since she hasn't been doing well in polls or fundraising in other states, even where she was concentrating efforts, withdrawal seemed inevitable. I read this too (I think on politico) which I get but I am still shocked she dropped out now. But I guess if they were that low on cash there’s just not much that can be done.

This primary is a terrible feeling because I feel like we are fucking it up and watching it in a kind of slow mo to the election, but I don’t know what the answer is. Sorry, not trying to catastrophize, but so much is at stake and I have lost hope. I genuinely have no idea who her supporters will turn to. I mean we aren't a monolith, but who even will get a large share of her voters? I have no idea who is my number 2. I mean I like a lot of Warren's plans but she's very out of touch with voters of color to be downright harmful. I just don't know. H is still on the Pete train but no way in hell is he getting my vote in the primary

I mean let’s be clear - the only person talking about primarying Harris for her Senate seat is Tom Steyer and his stinky ass money. And that would go over about as well as Meg Whitman running for Governor. Harris is insanely popular as a Senator in CA. She beat another democrat for the position by 3 million votes. That’s not the issue here. Maybe people in CA weren’t supporting her for POTUS but they definitely support her for Senate.
I blame the media, Steyer, and Bloomberg. And racist, misogynist democrats.

My heart </3 I hope she truly knows what a difference she's made in so many lives. She might not be president in 2020, but she has more honesty, integrity, and humility in one single cell than 45 has in his entire body. This is a shame.

I'm leaning toward Castro personally.

Is this a closed board open to people of only one mindset? I thought it was a discussion board on politics. I'd seen speculation on this board on why Harris dropped out and added another observation. Why is that objectionable?

I’m just so sad. I hope VP or AG are in Kamala’s future This! I’m shocked she is dropping out so early. Before Iowa. But I think she is best served as AG this term. I think it’s a good stepping stone to another bid in the future.

Oh my god you guys. I was blissfully unaware. My coworker just texted me. She figured I already knew. I’m devastated. I truly did not see this coming. I thought she would have stayed in through early state voting. The money troubles must have been bad. A major ad drop in Iowa was just announced today. 😭 I don’t get the abruptness. Is something big going to drop? I mean yesterday someone posted about a fundraiser and like you said the IA ad. WTF with the timing??

Why is that objectionable? I apparently just can not read you bc your post felt very told-ya-so in a thread where people are literally crying over something that's personal to them. We know you don't like Kamala. Of course you can speak freely. But jumping in to a thread at the moment people have said they are actually crying and spewing some of the same nasty media coverage that helped bring us here is hurtful. To me.

Why is that objectionable? I think it's more that that particular observation feels like an unnecessary punch in a fairly low moment for several of us. Maybe give people some time to mourn, if you will, before jumping in with technicalities.

I did not get the indication that greykitty was in any way gloating over Kamala dropping out. We always discuss the whys when this happens. It stings more for those who have supported and campaigned for Harris, but I don’t feel it’s fair to be angry at greykitty. This board (myself included) has been mostly all in on Kamala. Those who aren’t are just coming at this differently.

I have read from a number of sources (non extremely 100%) that Bloomberg’s campaign was targeting hers right from the jump. Which is you know, odd, since his campaign was supposed to be all about Warren and her wealth tax. 🤔

I’m going to go donate a few bucks to Castro. I don’t know if that’s like throwing money away at this point in the game, but I want to hear more of his voice.
I know we will likely see so much more from Kamala, but dammit we need her now. 😖 I hate feeling like the bad guys won...the media, the racists, the misogynists, the fucking Russian bots. Ugh.

Ok, so how do I get Castro elected? Does he have a catchy fan base name? I’m lost. This is where I am. How TF can we amplify Julian in her stead?
