CoachTsWife I’m glad the surgery went well and he is home now. I hope his recovery improves and the pain lessens quickly.

MIL made homemade toffee and I have eaten a pound or so. It’s so good and I can’t control myself. I’m full of regret because it sits like a brick in my stomach, but will repeat this tomorrow. I need an intervention.

duskymonkey you are a better person than me. That sounds horrible, I can say with near 100% certainty that I would not last more than a day or so. And I camp. In a tent.

DS is apparently not going to nap this afternoon 😒 Super.
Update: he is napping in my arms. It is currently 4:36. Usually he is awake by 3/3:30 😳 I will probably wake him soon so bedtime isn’t a disaster

Hoping it will be or was smooth for you all. duskymonkey everything you post is a big nope from me about staying at auch a remote place and the lack of heat would send me packing but I understand we do things for family so I hope the boys were able to make memories curmudgeon eat all the toffee! My grandma makes homemade Caramel corn and it doesn’t last the weekend at my house.

I took the girls up to my parents for a mini-vacay. H is coaching in holiday b-ball tournaments during break, including an overnight one, so this seemed like a better alternative to our long days alone at home.
The girls and I visited one of my (still) best friends from high school. She has three littles under 3 so her house is slightly loud and chaotic and my kids fit right in. It was nice catching back up with her and I’ll actually get to hang out again next week with her at a kid-free lunch.

Great that’s you’ll get to have a kid free lunch with her soon too! doodlemommy Hope your baby is sleeping okay, despite the messed tump nap. curmudgeon I’d be the same way about that toffee too. I loooooove toffee, and I have zero control when it’s in my house!

We’re back home and unpacked from our trip to snowy Japan. I really miss Japan already - I could 100% absolutely live there. The air quality index was red when we landed here last night (157 - which is unhealthy and requires face masks/no strenuous activity outside). Ugh - what a welcome home - smog!!! It’s just going to stay like this and get worse through March/April, so we’d better get used to it. The poor air quality season is one of the major downsides to living where we do.
But aside from missing Japan and the icky air, I’m really happy to be back home with all of our stuff again! We have air purifiers in our home, which keep the air quality in the green zone, and there are lots of really cool indoor play spaces around town. We’ll probably take DS1 to one of those later this weekend.
Hope you all have a nice start to your weekend!

cythe I’m so sorry about about your grandma and your aunts accident. I can’t imagine living till 91. Everything everyone said. Of you have a small cooler bag with ice pack, bring that so you can put E’s food pouches in it after TSA breaks the seal. It all depends on the airport. The larger busier airports tend to inspect everything. They even pat me down with baby in carrier after going through the X-ray pass with baby 😒 another tip, if you freeze the food pouches and they’re solid, they won’t bat an eye. Are you transiting on different planes? If you are, pack enough clothes for E overnight and diapers and other essentials in your carry on in case your luggage goes to the Bahamas 😒 luckily babies clothes are small and don’t take too much space. If you’re still nursing, nurse E during takeoff and descend. You’ll be great! E might surprise you and be fascinated with her adventure! How long are you gone for?

They didn’t sleep till almost 1130 😟 then woke up at their usual time 😒 all bring get eyed and bushy tailed 🤦🏻♀️. Despite the long day they did well on the trip. We were also greeted with 7 degree temps while waiting for the bus 🥶🥶
