Hellloooooo from snowy Japan. After 15 hours of door to door travel, we’re here!!! It is so cold and so snowy and so orderly/clean/Japanese. I LOVE IT. LO was amazing for the travel and DS1 did reasonably well. Everyone is in bed and asleep (I will be soon too), and we can’t wait to eat a massive buffet breakfast at the hotel and then go outside to play in the snow tomorrow morning. Yippeee! danvers Oh man to the stomach flu!! I hope you are still doing okay and were spared!

Taitai I missed that you guys were traveling. Enjoy your trip and hopefully some fresh powder! Are the kids going to take some lessons?

So I’ve had a morning... I was on days and today they switched me to evening shift because I have a pass/fail training course I have to do. So I’m up early because kids and I decide to do some errands while my cleaners are around and I was 2nd on the scene to a very bad car accident 30 seconds from my house. I didn’t witness but it had just happened and was the first to call 911 and help... 3 university students were in the car that was hit and then hit a cement bridge... they were speeding... it was bad. It won’t go to the details but I’m checking the news for an update on the condition of one of the people.
I’m actually more upset about the people who just drove by or were bystanders not helping... in hindsight I should have passed my phone off to one of them and started first aid myself but 🤷🏼♀️
So now I have to eat lunch and go to work and hopefully pass this course because calling in is not an option.

My kid just used faking affection to grab the bag of goldfish. Shes now making a pile of them. Every so often she eats one.

Kindergarten had early release at 11am today so my parents picked him up. My mom keeps texting me “poor DS2, left at school all alone.”
Wtf. So I should feel guilty for having to work?

So much sweets at work from clients and vendors. Pies, cookies, chocolates, brownies. I’m glad tomorrow is a short day so I don’t have 8 hours to eat them all.
One year H got a $200 gift card to a nice sushi restaurant from a vendor. Is it wrong I’m a little sad he doesn’t do business with them anymore? That was the best sushi ever. And $$$.

August Blooms That’s horrible about the accident- I hope everyone pulls through. I stopped for a really really bad motorcycle accident once, I get how you are feeling ☹️ And yes - DS1 Will be doing 3 days of ski camp while we are here. Hope he loves it! I don’t ski, but I am going to take LO in the snow to play while DS1 and H ski 👍 cythe She’s too cute and sneaky! @curmusgeon Eye roll to your mom.

H just told me that my squatty potty gift was "the best gift the division has ever had" (as told to him by "everyone").
So, my ego is pretty big now

I am sitting at work drinking a London fog and making a gift certificate for my parents Christmas present. I have no cares left. we are leaving at 12, only 2 hrs and 15 minutes of time to kill...

Bonus is that the London fog was paid for by a students family (for all the staff not just me) and that we started an hour late today

Two weeks off for Xmas break! Woo who!!
The afternoon was very easy as all my students were watching a movie in another teacher’s classroom. A few years ago I became “the classroom” you send your kids too if they can’t attend a party for discipline reasons so I did have a few kids from other classes and grades in my room this afternoon. Mostly boys. Boys who don’t “act” like “good” students 🙄 🤦♀️ I had them help me clean up the class XMas tree and take things to storage.
The girls and I are just chilling and playing before bed. Looking forward to time home with my girls.

I talked a coworker out of going to the mall tonight. I feel like that was a good deed. I recommended waking up early and getting there at opening tomorrow morning instead.
I left early to get my roots touched up and now the baby and I are sharing a slice of key lime pie. He ate all the fruit on top and sucked the lime wedge.

I have given up on Christmas. People are getting what gifts I’ve got, maybe wrapped and maybe in a target bag.
And there will be no meal on Christmas unless someone orders Chinese take out.
I’m so over it. It’s too hard with no time off work for either of us. We somehow both have to work Monday with no childcare and then drive two hours to DHs grandparents after work, spend a couple of hours there then drive back. 😭
Need more wine!

danvers I am to read your comments as the kids are not bad kids, just unable to conform to certain standards or Perhaps certain teachers just don’t like? I’m not sure how old these kids are but I can’t imagine it does some of them any good being excluded. Like was for your 2 weeks off. bootsorhearts1 Sounds stressful.Drink up! Enjoy the Chinese food and do what you can. Nothing wrong with throwing in the towel to save your sanity.

The police posted an update about the crash, the one passenger that was hurt badly is in serious but not life threatening condition. Which was a huge relief to find out.
I braved the mall and went out for lunch with DH. DD1 was crazy excited today, I think it’s the pre Christmas excitement got her all amped up. We are having some friends over tomorrow after the kids go to bed and ordering take out and playing some board games. I’m looking forward to it.

We went to a zoo lights event tonight and it was awesome. Both kids loved it! Putting them to bed a bit late and Boston pizza delivery is on its way

August Blooms the two boys who spent the majority of the day with me are by no means angels. But also they are 10 and 11 year olds who can act very much like 10 and 11 year olds do - albeit boisterous and active 10-11 yr olds. The holidays are no excuse for acting like a fool but I do think some grace was warranted in this situation because the week before Christmas break at an elementary school can seem very unstructured with sing-alongs and class parties and silly dress up days and schedule changes and most kids do not handle all that change in routine very well.

Japan is going well! DH and I took DS1 on a snow CAT ride to the top of a mountain yesterday, and DS1 loved it soooooo much. LO is sleeping on my lap and then we are going to try to get him out in the snow again. Fingers crossed he tolerates his snow suit more today!

bootsorhearts1 like was for support. I'm pretty much where you are. I don't have to work Monday, though. DH has a severely herniated disc in his lumbar spine. He is having surgery 12/26 and is pretty much high on pain killers half the time. We were initially going to have to wait until 1/2 for surgery, so I'm thankful they moved it up. He cannot sit, he can only stand up or lay down. He's in pain despite the cocktail of meds he's on. LO is hard core teething and is waking every 2 hours. He is soooooo fussy. Thankfully the boys are used to daddy not being around or able to play. It is the Mommy Show right now, and will be for the foreseeable future. We are missing Christmas with my family and I don't even care. I kind of just want to skip Christmas, tbh. My ILs have been so incredibly helpful but they're leaving town later today and I'm kind of scared.

CoachTsWife I am so so sorry you are going through this, and your poor H. 12/26 cannot come soon enough - I am so glad they were able to move up the surgery. Do you have anyone to help you while your ILs are gone? Is there anything you need or anything we could send to help out? Please let me know - even if it’s just a Jimmy Johns order or something. Hang in there - hugs.

I'm so sorry CoachTsWife, what a rotten time of year for things to go sideways. Thanks for updating us, I hope the surgery helps and that can be the end of that. My mother has had 4 back surgeries so I'm well versed in them (for whatever that's worth... which isn't much) Hang in there!

I’m so sorry CoachTsWife. I hope the surgery gives him a lot of relief and 12/26 comes quickly. What’s the recovery time likefor the surgery?

Thanks guys. I reread my post and I didn't mean to be so incredibly negative. It was 4am and you know how everything feels more overwhelming during those hours..... Taitai my mom is coming up today and bringing some food, I think. She'll be back on Christmas day, probably with food, and is staying the night so she'll be with the boys on surgery day. cythe, I really feel for your mom. DH is in soooooo much pain, I can't imagine someone going through this 4 times. Did she ever have surgery for a herniated disc? What was her recovery like? curmudgeon, we've been told to expect 2-4 weeks of recovery. The surgeon was pretty confident he'd be back in 2 weeks though. Best case scenario, he only misses one more week of work since the surgery is over Christmas break. He's a teacher so no school until 1/2.

CoachTsWife I’m so sorry you all are going through this -and at the holidays no less. If you need to go into survival mode when your ILs leave and serve fast food for a meal or two (or three) or let your kids watch every episode of Daniel Tiger available or whatever it is, please feel no guilt and just do what needs to be done to survive. I will be keeping you all in my thoughts these coming days.

I'm getting so frustrated with E and her motor skills. I get it, babies are different, shes not ready and all that shit. But damn if this isn't frustrating, she literally wont do anything. She hardly stands with me holding her, much less doing anything on her own. Hell, she wont even stand up straight, its always bent at the hips.
I'm positive her pedi will not be pleased with this at her next check up, which is whatever because I cant do a damn thing about it. Sorry, I just need to vent.

cythe I’m sure it’s frustrating. Can you put all her toys on stuff? Tables, couch, bench, etc so nothing is on the floor and easy to get to by crawling?

Vent ramble ahead-
I spent all morning cleaning/tidying/cooking breakfast. Left to run some errands and came back to having to clean and tidy more. The baby took a long nap while I was gone so I’m very wtf about H just sitting there and not doing anything. I told him he could go pick up the groceries bc id have to stay home and continue to clean since he won’t while he’s left alone. I’m annoyed. I even vacuumed and cleaned the inside of his car because he lets DS1 eat in there and it was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen.
