I got Aurora, Buffalo and Rochester. I dont know what that means, but here we are. My dad is from upstate NY near Rochester, and people there often joke that they are really in southern Canada.

vino, I stress about it too. I figure all we can do is keep talking to them and showing them and hope some of it sinks in

I used to unwrap all of my gifts under the tree and then re-wrap them. We didn't unwrap, but growing up, whatever presents my mom had put under the tree, we would take a knife or scissor blade, and slice the tape open at the seam, to see what was inside, then just put another piece of tape back over, and she never knew. Kind of ruined Christmas morning though... I definitely was discreet with it. I still had to use the same paper it cam in so i had to peel the tape off ever so gently to not tear the paper. I should have used a knife like you did.

vino I think it’s normal for kids to be a little greedy around this time of year. As long as they have mindful parents that teach them that others aren’t as fortunate as they are it’s fine. I tell ds some things, but I’m also okay with him not having the weight of the world on his shoulders just yet, all in good time . Eta I do correct the greedyness, don’t get me wrong!

I want to provide balance without scaring him. I figure if I focus on the good people do, then the 'whys' become less of the story.. Full disclosure, acts of kindness make me cry and get me right in the feels. Then I'm trying to explain kindness while I'm crying. It's great Gah....get it together Vino.

Waiting at the clinic for N’s well check. They play a lullaby over the speaker when a baby is born at the hospital. I’ve never heard it personally but heard about it.... They just played the lullaby now and I got instant teary eyed. Baby fever much?

I have all of Cadence's presents currently hidden in the hall closet. She knows they are in there. She calls it the present closet, but she makes no attempts to see them. I asked mh how long he thought we could continue that. We're thinking this is probably the last year.

Josie’s preschool has a tree with mittens on it. Each one has the sex and the age of a child. I took two of the tween ones (12yr olds). I think somebody on this board said that those are probably the ones that get chosen least, and that stayed in my head. I don't know if I mentioned it, but when my aunt went to get the Angel Tree children that our family is sponsoring, the director told her the same thing...that oldest children were usually last to go, probably b/c their stuff is more expensive. So my aunt selected 6 from the 'oldest' pile, and these kids were 8-12--still very young, IMO! One of the kids just wanted a new pillow That broke our hearts...

My cousin was just telling me his office sponsors whole families for the holidays. The family he got this year asked for bedding and toilet paper. 😟

Should we do that, N13 as a group? Find a family to sponsor?

Y'all. I'm so embarrassed. My attorney just pointed out that I have 3 tampons sticking out of my back pocket. I put them in there this morning to put in my purse. I went to the ENT, daycare, gas station and grocery store like that. No one said anything. Awesome. The security guard at the concert last week totally yanked one out of my purse. I think he was more embarrassed than I was. Lol.

lahdeedah With Halloween, birthdays and then Christmas all together with the gifts and stuff that come endlessly during this time, I always find B gets a little greedy, for lack of better word. TBH I find it extremely annoying and I panic that I'm raising a greedy kid, but if you're pointing out, taking action and letting him be involved not only at this time, but year round I think as they get older it will stick for sure. It's a mind fuck for me for sure. Glad I’m not alone in this thought. Yeah I take things through out the year, but he isn’t involved, so I think I need to start letting him help me.

If we can find a family (or kids or w/e) I’m happy to contribute.
ETA: I’d be happy to check with our church and see if they know of anything (either a family or an organization that connects you or whatnot), if no one is already tied in to something.

Our wonderful babysitter who is away at college texted me tonight that she's coming home for the holiday break and would love to sit/see the kids. Yes, of course! How many nights can we have you??

I got Boston, Worcester, and Providence on the quiz. I agree but it’s funny since I’ve lived in a few different areas growing up due to the military but my parents are from Mass and Rhode Island so it makes sense.

Also I did the quiz twice because I missed an option on a question and noticed it when I hit next and you couldn’t go back. They vary the questions so it was interesting to see if it was different results. The order changes but they were the same places.
