My H has never clipped Evie's nails. Left to his own, I'm sure he would do it, but after she cut herself or him a few times, due to a snaggle nail. He would also have no idea how to pay our bills. I printed off the spreadsheet I type up every month, that includes login and passwords for all bills, as well as the due date and amount due, and he stared at it blankly.

tallb these are from a little workshop in Holland, but maybe a stokke trip trap could work? ETA or something similar, because those are 💰! I have seen this style around, I just googled and there some to be some options. I will keep an eye on Craigslist and FB marketplace. I like that it has sides, the Ikea ones don't which concern me for N. Trip trapped are $$ I saw someone on FB comment recently that they got one (very similar to what Nam has) at an unfinished wood furniture store. Not sure if you have anything like that in your area but just a thought.

Hi!
Busy afternoon; we went straight from school to haircuts, then came home. B opened his gifts and since then has been in heaven with his Jurassic World ‘Gyrosphere blast vehicle’ (if anyone needs a Dino-related gift idea, here you go). Meanwhile all the relatives have been calling or wanting to FaceTime so I have basically played receptionist all afternoon.
We are going out to eat here in a bit and I fully intend to get a ‘crush’ and some oysters, because the birthday boy’s mom deserves to celebrate, too, right?!

Finally checking in!
So we had Colin's parent-teacher conference last night and I left feeling very good. She said that he's still quick to get frustrated in a way that belies his age, though it's not impacting his ability to focus or behave. She said it's more along the lines of him having trouble getting his coat off when he first gets to class, and instead of asking for help, he gets easily worked up. He's actually very enthusiastic about learning, aims to please, and loves to participate. She showed us some samples of his handwriting from early September and then more recent ones, and it's crazy how much he's progressed. It probably helps that he's finally accepted that he's left handed - he was still going back and forth up through the summer! Anyhow she said he's always on top of his snap words, he's doing all his arithmetic in his head, and he's already met or surpassed a lot of the milestones required to move on to 1st grade.
We were very open about how nervous we were putting him into school this year but she said in his specific case, waiting could have been detrimental to him because he's so bright and eager to learn. She thinks his emotional outbursts will work themselves out in time and said that they've already decreased since the opening of the year. Obviously success in kindergarten isn't necessarily a harbinger of future academic prowess, but still the whole thing was a massive relief!
Also just as reassuring is that she said he's doing just fine socially with the other kids. She described A - the boy he considers his best friend at school - as a really sweet kid and said that P (Col's "girlfriend") is a really good kid and that she looks out for him. Again, such a relief.

When I'm out of town, nails are not clipped and teeth are not flossed. Aside from that, DH keeps things running pretty smoothly so I keep my mouth shut and just make sure both are done immediately before and after my trips.

wineallthetime if you H hates the highchair so much why don’t you get the kind that straps to a regular kitchen chair?

joelies B's kinder teacher had the same feedback about B regarding the frustrations. She said it's very common in this age; they see that adults and the older students can read, write and do everything effortlessly and they put a lot of pressure on themselves to get to that level. In their class she says 'smell the flowers and blow out the candle' to take a second to calm down. I've started using that at home and he likes that we have the same message. Also, I'm quick to point out mistakes that I make, and show that I just try again. Like when I baked the butter tarts more than once and they were shit....

joelies, yay for a good report for C! I'm definitely the nail clipper. I'm trying to think and I don't think there's anything that's exclusively a husband task. But he has overall stepped up and does much more so I appreciate it.

Madison's sleep issues are crazy. She has insomnia like I've never seen in a kid. She just doesn't sleep. She gave up naps before she turned 2. We've tried everything--solid routine, different bedtimes, reading, laying with her, letting her read, listen to music, etc. If I attempt to lay with her I'll fall asleep before she does every time. She's complained herself about not being able to fall asleep. Last night I know she was trying (I thought she was asleep) when she came downstairs at 9:45 still wide awake. She'd been trying to sleep for over an hour. Melatonin only had a minor impact in the past but I'm trying it again. I heard so many times that once she's in school she'll sleep without an issue. So not the case. That girl could probably run a full marathon and still be wide awake at night.

Like 1.5. MH HATES the high chair and makes it disappear. He's not thrilled that I told him I'm going to get it out soon for A (he's 9 months). It's not out already?! I had kids hanging out in it before they even started solids to hang out during meals. It needs to be!

MH hates the space the high chair takes up, but we both love the containment of it. I just put him in the bumbo and set it on the counter/table. He's starting to move too much though and is probably getting ready for some finger foods (we don't have a bumbo tray).

I remember lfig’s doctor had her increase S’s dosage at one point, maybe M needs more.

I’m lucky if he’s asleep before 11 most nights.

M has an EI. I had the pedi check H’s ears too, just to make sure a trip to the ENT wa sun order tomorrow. Sure enough, his right ear is still full of crap.
MH gets home and asked me to look in his ear. It was raging. I sent him to urgent care and put H to bed. M is reading her I see Sam book while sitting on the potty and then I’ll put her to bed.
Basically I have 3 children with EIs.
Send in the Calvary. I’m gonna need more than just wine.

I don't think I've ever had one...I blame mh for our kids issues bc he grew up having them.

It does seem like some people are a lot more susceptible than others...my H and I never had them, and surprisingly, even B with all his issues has only had 1. C, none. My dad is the one who had to have his tonsils out, so we can blame him for that--which makes perfect sense b/c B is his grandpa's mini-me in all things, lol.

MH did but they didn’t do tubes.

nam2013 How do you adult without Amazon?! It is very hard 😉. In all honesty, we have a Dutch site that has a lot & sometimes i just pay the shipping & handling fees for amazon uk or us. That last one is when I want to buy Red Sox or other products only available in the us.

cheeksmum it's exhausting isn't it? I feel bad for her too because she's genuinely trying to sleep sometimes. It's tough to get her up in the morning for school but once she's up she's rarely tired during the day. trtlcrzy I'll have to look into the dosage. Now that you mention that I remember reading it from lfig.

tgrimes wine for you and ear transplants for your entire family. I'm so sorry girl. On a different note, is there any chance at all your H's boss will leave any time in the near future, or your H might be able to transfer/look for a new job?

I bought some chocolate pudding cups at aldi on Friday, for the kids and DH but I wanted some chocolate so I just opened one up to eat it. I happened to see the best by date on the side...sept 2018. I looked at the 2nd pack...July 2018. Those are going straight back to the store. Clearly I need to pay attention to dates there from now on.

I’m sorry tgrimes. Does YH have an EI too? I wish the doctors would figure out what’s going on with H’s fluid in his ears. Well I’m here to report that Z has an EI too. Her nose is so stuffed i need to hold her down and spray saline in there.
