Happy Tuesday.
So the GM announcement included news they are sunseting the Volt, which was actually a great little plug in hybrid. I almost bought one when I was car shopping two years ago. So that’s a bummer.
Trump asked his crowd if Epsy “fit in” in Mississippi last night. He’s not even whistling now.
I’m not optimistic about that race.
Ugh. I’m kind of in a funk. It seems like the lying is getting worse and I can’t believe that in this age where we have more video and photographic proof of things than ever before, we can’t agree to certain facts. It’s scary.

Hold your hats, there is an actual scheduled briefing today at 1 pm eastern.
I mean of course there is because I have to leave my office at that time...

The GM news is indicative of a huge problem nationwide: people aren't buying fuel efficient vehicles. They're buying gas guzzlers. It's fine. Its not like we have a global emissions crisis.

France: climate change is an existential threat. Let's raise gas prices to encourage fuel economy.
US: MOAR TRUCKS

Guilani is discussing 'things' with Manaforts team.
I've also seen the idea that pulling this deal and the sentencing agreement is a way for Mueller to get 'around' the DOJ. its getting the information that could be buried* by Whitaker out in public. (*buried until Mr. Schiff gets his hands on it anyway)

Ford eliminating it’s sedan line makes my head hurt. I know the profit margin is bigger on SUVs and trucks, but I think the are going to end up reducing their company’s niche so much with this move in the US that it will hurt them in the long run.

Thats sad, I loved my focus and my mustang. The focus was really comfy and drove well and my mustang was my baby. I had to upgrade to a xover because big dog and child don't fit in the backseat together. The escape is nice but it handles like a truck and not a car. Which was the hardest thing to get used to.

Ford has resisted anything that would help the planet at every turn. They've aggressively lobbied against increased CAFE standards and continued to make bigger trucks with bigger engines while Asian companies have found ways to build minivans that get 30 mpg highway. It defies logic and it makes me so angry.

But don't worry, the taxpayers can just bail them out when nobody wants to buy their civilian tanks.
Again.

I was looking at the WH Christmas pics on WaPo and the next story that popped up was about life for the elite in NK... and it took me a few pictures before I realized the story had changed.

It’s scary. The GM news is indicative of a huge problem nationwide: people aren't buying fuel efficient vehicles. They're buying gas guzzlers. It's fine. Its not like we have a global emissions crisis. Another portion of that is the trucking industry. They make up a MAJOR portion of gas guzzlers since they get AT BEST 11mpg hauling over 200 gallons of the stuff in each one. There is a some mysogonistic, homophelia, and also mixes of man hood issues with electric trucks for them. Being the car community I talk to a lot of people from all kinds of rides and truckers are a breed all their own. They think electric trucks are for ladies or for homosexuals because they don't look manly. They don't issue back to a time when a real trucker ran for 14 hours in the snow to get the load there not that the electric truck could get there. And they all try to run either trucks that are old enough to beat the ELOGing laws or new trucks made by Volvo or kenworth paid for by their employers. For them its all about looks. If you could knock the overbearing man attitude out of the trucking industry and tell them that they can either drive their 18 wheelers or their pickup for the rest of their life, NOT BOTH, you might persuade some. Many are hard core Trump supporters, gun owners, and low income family members and will fight to the death for much of them. Don't get me wrong I think trucking is awesome. I would love to do it and there are many out there I have met who are great people to talk to and have some AMAZING stories. But the culture it exudes does not give me hope that we can change at all. If truckers find the government is stopping them from trucking in a manly way they will shut down the economy in this country by not driving. Which is sad because truck producers have come up with some great ideas including MAC with some 500 mile in town electric trucks which look like current ones and Volvo, and Tesla. I have been trying to garner support but its all look and history issue.

Maybe Larry Kudlow will come talk about the booming economy some more I'm thinking it may be either Neilsen to talk about why we tear gas migrants WITH PERFECTLY HARMLESS TO CHILDREN TEARGAS or Pentagon officials to talk about the soldiers who were killed by IEDs this morning.

Guys, the background check story got worse. According to a memo obtained by AP, the background checks were waived: I just don't understand what is wrong with people.
And considering the lack of mental health support in this country we are creating an entire generation of people who are going to have severe trauma issues later in life.

Jim Acosta is in the briefing room btw.
He just did a stand up "its been a while since we had one, but everyone figured out where to go"
I guess we're going to see how the new 'rules' and decorum are going to play today.

Me reading the latest news in the Manafort saga For some reason this GIF is making me laugh so hard. I needed that. I think I've never wanted anything as much as I want to see 45's web of lies take him down in a spectacular blaze of clusterfuck.

I heard 1/2ish of the presser in the car.
The thing that stuck out was SHS denying that 45 doesnt believe his advisors. HE came out and said he doesnt believe the report on climate, he said he doesnt believe the CIA. Its not like the reporters are pulling this out of their asses.

It’s not just GM though- everyone is eliminating the little cars. H and I were recently car shopping since we need a second car with my new job. We wanted a 4 door sedan with good gas mileage and small....and as low a price tag as we could get away with. We ended up buying a Hyundai Elantra, which is size equivalent to a Civic or Corolla. After seeing it we expressed interest in their compact sedan (Accent), only to be told that a) its going to be discontinued and b) would actually cost more than the Elantra. The sales just aren’t there on compact cars apparently.
