When E has to go poop he does the potty dance for about an hour before I give up and tell him to go. He just doesn't sit still and bounces all over the place. I'm like just go poop kid! If I don't say anything he just doesn't go or waits until the pre-bedtime potty. He isn't holding, just doesn't recognize the feelings. This week we started giving special rewards if he goes without me asking. Those special rewards are picking from some new headbands. That seems to motivate him.
I have used the prospect of Kindergarten as incentive for wiping his own bottom and picking out his own clothes. I have also been known to ignore/pretend i can't hear requests that are whiney, interruptive, and unnecessary.

Decided to skip work today. I'm currently laying in bed with Starbucks watching a Netflix documentary called Dogs. Good call.

vino , we still help dress a lot over here, but sometimes what works with L is to make it a game/ race. Like, bet you can't get dressed before I finish drying my hair! He goes for it every time. *knocks on wood* Trust, I've tried everything. Races, rewards, punishment, money, bribing etc. And he still doddles around on his own time. That's awesome that it works for you, FX L isnt lurking here 😉 Solidarity, vino. Dude is the worst every morning. He does dress himself, but only after I nag him about 92 times and hear multiple complaints about how his socks are scratchy, tags feel funny, etc. And I think the only reason he finally gets his clothes on at the very last minute is because he knows they lock the gate at his school and he’s going to have to walk the long way if he doesn’t hustle.

Packing update: just found my senior year/beach week journal. It's been under the desk in our living room for years...let's hope MH never read it 😳😳. Also I want to simultaneously burn it and save it forever.

I had to be to work an hour early today. It’s been pretty busy and all the crazies have come in today. Not fun to deal with.
I only got to one store yesterday, so I have to hit up a few more today. Hopefully I can knock it all out so when I get off early tomorrow I can just go home and not be out with all the last minute grocery goers.

Also I want to simultaneously burn it and save it forever. I recently found my senior yearbook and started reading the signatures. My BFF was my BFF in high school as well. She wrote a novel, like seriously - it was continued on 5 different pages throughout the book. We were INCREDIBLY dramatic. We were in love with BFFs at the time and most of it was about them, which is so sad to look back on and read how ridiculous we were! But it gave me a pretty good chuckle.

I'm the worst and when we moved I recycled all my old yearbooks. They'd been in a bin for over 15 years and I'd never looked at them. *shrugs* I want to know more about the salacious stories in that beach diary tallb.

Oh, and in the midst of their refusal to bath last night, Madison comes in the family room totally pissed off and glares at me and forms the middle finger. She doesn't flip me off per se, she's holding her hand down. I ask her if she knows what it means, yadda yadda. Basically she knew it was bad and did it anyway. i'm sorry I am laughing at the sass in your house. Those girls! Oh the sass is never ending in our house. The other day Cass said, "Just the tip!" to me and started laughing. I asked her where she heard that she replied "Dad." So I asked Scott about it and he said she overheard him telling the story about one of his HS gym students getting in trouble over saying it. Of course they listen when we don't want them too.
Before Scott left me with the demons last night when he's telling them to be good about their baths Cass blurts out, "You forgot to say we have to wash our butts and our vulvas." Thanks for the explicit info kid.

We made a whole half an hour in the library before Charlie was over it and screamed while the very sweet children’s librarian tried to get Josie to give up her last name so we could check out books (surprisingly, Josie was entirely skeptical of the situation). I dragged them to target first to pick up paper towels and we spent entirely too long ( and too much) in the seasonal area. They’re home now binging on tumble leaf while I try and figure out dinner for tonight.

Josie will get herself dressed if I asked her. She has trouble with the shirts, but she gets there. Her closet is not conducive to her choosing her own clothes – clothing bars and shelves up too high — so I plan her out for the week and bring the clothes downstairs each night so she can get dressed after she eats breakfast.

Cadence likes the signs prohibiting things. No needles in the pharmacy trash, no phones in certain areas. Today going into the Dr. office she saw the night red circle with a line through it and excitedly said, "No, hairdryers!" It was a no guns sign. Then we had the conversation of why guns are not allowed.

Haha nothing too crazy but definitely goes very detailed into my crushes (all of whom mh knows are my friends but not to the extent of me liking them). And a few drunken makeout sessions..i was the prude of my hs friends. I can't get myself to throw out yearbooks, thankfully my mom has been storing them without complaint for 20 years!

Fun fact: in my 6th grade yearbook I wrote TTYSF next to several pics of guys. If you asked me to sign your yearbook I'd put it in yours, too. Everyone would ask me what it meant and I would tell them it's a secret. {Spoiler Alert}TTYSF = tonia thinks you're so fine
I was like....really cool.

We have about a 70% success rate on the getting dressed on his own in the morning. I try to reward it when he initiates it on his own without asking. Saturday he got up, got dressed, had breakfast, and brushed his teeth all before I got up. I gave him 5 quarters for being such a great 5 year old. If he did that all every morning, it would be amazing!

I still have three boxes of notes from high school — two of them stored in pink Sam and Libby boxes and one in a keds box. Serious sign of the times.

My sister found a letter I mailed her when she first went off to college. I was a junior. I'm pretty sure every other word was a curse word. She's holding onto it in case she ever needs to blackmail me.

Checking in. It's my Friday and also Colin's last day as a 4 year old. To celebrate, he face planted in the parking lot on the way to the school bus this morning. Daycare called me to let me know one of the 5th graders sat with him and would walk him to the nurse's office at school (they also called the school to give them a heads up). Poor kiddo, not a great way to start the day. I hope he's not scraped up too badly. Colin has been asking for help getting dressed a lot lately, but I think it's his way of keeping me in his room rather than me going off to get Chase up. DH has been more helpful in the mornings lately, so it's been okay. Plus this way, Colin can't wear soft pants 7 days a week. Chase's Mickey underwear was delivered this morning so I guess we're really doing this. He actually asked to use the potty during breakfast today and even went, but normally he seems to love nothing more than to NOT do what we ask. He's going to be fun... LOL.

lahdeedah, I think we decided on the VW Atlas. It was between that and the Honda Pilot, and MH really wanted the Atals. He's super opinionated, and I don't really care that much, so I figured it's easier to just placate him.

joelies, C wants to wear soft pants every day! I allow it most days because I would rather he ruin those than nicer ones but it would be nice to have him look more put together every once in a while. Of course I found a pair of jeans he would wear and he literally outgrew them after wearing them twice. In the waist. At least the soft pants have some give.

S would wear "comfy pants" daily if I let him. And I usually do. But once in a while I force him to wear jeans. He does look so much more put together in them! But he still struggles with the buttons so I think that's part of it.
He very rarely wears actual pants. Usually if he's getting more dressed up for something. I'll probably force him to wear nice khakis and a cute button down for Thanksgiving and I'm sure he'll give me crap about it.
