cythe those baby dinners do indeed smell gross! I got them one time thinking it would be so nice and easy to make one for DD1 when H is out for b-ball but yuck! She didn’t touch it and I couldn’t blame her. Never again. August Blooms the only way I deal with my inlaws is to hide and nurse the baby at times. Enjoy that candy!! doodlemommy oh my - that’s was quite the adventure you all had. I hope your evening was quiet and easy! Taitai I usually check here first before reading the news so maybe just let me know if I should just stick to Pinterest tomorrow instead of social media and news sites. I’m not staying up tonight and 2016 really broke me and I’m just not sure I can handle the disappointment for 2018. 😬 danvers It’s overall good news. Democrats took control of the House and flipped at least 6 governorships from red to blue. 👍 Downside is that Republicans actually increased their majority in the Senate by 2 seats, probably 3 when the FL counts are finalized. I’ll take it though - better than the horror that was 2016.

It wasn’t even close either. But happy the rest of the country seems to have figured some things out.

LO slept until 6am this morning. Like, he slept all night. STTN. He slept until 5:30 yesterday. 6:00 today. Tomorrow should be 6:30, right? LOL I noticed I was in a pretty good mood during daycare drop off and when I got to my car I realized this is what it feels like to get good sleep two days in a row.

5:30 wake up here too... Baby wouldn’t go back to sleep so everyone else was too. I’m sick and sent the kids to daycare even though I was planning on keeping them home to hang with the IL’s before they leave.

I'm finally picking out the pics I want from our photo session a month ago. I do not think there is one photo (out of at least 100) where all 4 of us are looking and smiling. None. I'm having to add notes to all of them like "Change DS1 face to the one in #54" and so on. LO was teething hard core at the time and has his fingers in his mouth in SO many of them. So I'm picking the ones where he isn't chewing fingers and requesting faces as needed from other proofs. Oy. This is tedious.

Hello from the land of sickness. Everyone here except DH is still sick from the cold out houseguests brought from the USA last week. It’s a doozy. Normally we get colds, but they don’t make us hack up our lungs like this one. We must not be used to those American germs!
Aside from focusing on getting better, we’re trying to just keep things really chill for the next few weeks- until the thanksgiving crazy starts!

I am spiralling on fun ideas for DH and the kids when I am gone. DD has slept over at my parents’ house numerous times in the last 2 years (she didn’t sleep a night away from me until she was 2) but I have only actually left once, for 2 nights for my sister’s bachelorette when she was almost 3. I have never left DS overnight. I will be gone for 4 nights this time. I want to leave them a box of something fun for each night. I realize this is over the top.

Oh man cythe. Sorry you guys are at odds. I actually am not sure how H took care of himself for most of his life. Like, after we moved in together (we had two other roommates too) his slob really showed. Like our other roommates were like whaaaaaat the fuck did you bring here?? (The three of us loved together and then H moved in). After I SAH with DS1 we had to have many, many CTJ's about who does what. And by a lot of standards, we're pretty "old fashioned" ie I do think of the housework as my "job". Day to day dusting, vacuuming, bathrooms, laundry. Even now, I WFH part time and I still do all that. H works a really, really physically demanding job with long hours and I've found that I need to actually remind myself of that when I'm grumbling about vacuuming. H does do most of the yardwork but it's because he wanted "toys", riding mower, chain saw, etc. He likes em so he can have at em. Now that DS2 is 1 and much less dependent on me, we definitely split kid duty. All that to say, it sucks. It has taken us, I dunno, 5 years to get here? The most frustrating thing was the "I'm not a fucking maid" feeling. Like, yes, I do the laundry. But no, I'm not picking your clothes off the floor. Same with dishes. There were a few years there that were....oof.

SAHMs - where do you guys go with the kids for fun? E isnt standing on her own, no crawling or walking so anywhere we go shes basically stationary. Shes definitely bored at home. **I just checked our local library and they have story time for kids under 13mo 1 day a week, during her nap time. Wheee Maybe check the libraries in neighboring towns? I know our whole county system has baby story times and the times do vary from one library to another 🤷♀️ We do errands. Grocery store, target, etc too. Cart rides are fuuunnnn! Also check out your local parks and rec for events around town. And your local Facebook page. Especially in the winter there's always a lot of holiday storytime events and kids things. SAH with DS1 was definitely a learning curve. I made a point to do the library story times though and I "picked up" a few moms there to schedule play dates with. 😂 one is still one of my BFFs though!

Also, I’m leaving tomorrow for the week and am legit scared of what the house may look like when I come back. I was in the hospital with DS2 from Friday, when my water broke, to Thursday evening when I was discharged (he was born on Sunday). That week was also the first full week of K for DS1. And we were replacing the floors in the main kitchen/living area in our house. Needless to say...H was....shook. I felt a pang of empathy towards him. It passed.

cythe , evertyhing doodlemommy said on both accounts and no worries about singling out SAH moms cos they would obviously have more ideas. One thing I did when I took a month off with DS when he was about 18 months was I took him to a music class and he loved that. There were lots of much younger babies in the class - around 8 months and up. But definitely local libraries are a good source. Hubs has also gotten spoilt since we got married. We do have an agreement that he takes care of grass and trees and I do all the other yardwork. Considering I have about 70 plants he has the easier part of the deal and there isn't any mowing for at least 5 months yet still, he bitches and moans about mowing every week during the summer. He takes care of the house bills but that's cos he already had the house prior to our marriage and I take care of bills for my other house. I do however deal with all the cleaning, cooking and household stuff even when I was working FT. After 7yrs of marriage, last year when I had to go on bed rest, he had no choice but to do most of everything except cooking and understood how much there was to do on a daily basis. Anyways my mom certainly shoulders a lot being married to my dad, he doesn't lift a finger to do much. She even cuts up his food and he can't even put his cup and dish into the dishwasher. Any modern day marriage wouldn't tolerate what my mom does. Like what August Blooms says marriage takes work. doodlemommy hope you're having a better 2nd half of the week after the car dealership. Do you have one of those 10 min oil change places you could go to?\ Taitai glad you have your house back. It's one thing having house guests but yours were especially tough. Hope you'll all get better soon. CoachTsWife YASSSS!!! sleep baby sleep!

I must be the weird one that likes DST - Fall only though - Spring DST sucks. The early wake up is great that mornings aren't such a rush feeding lil fella and getting DS to school on time. Also lil fella's doc appt. on Monday proved to have been a happy mistake with the time cos he somehow fixed himself and we're basically on time. Even DS seems to be handling it ok. So this evening when I was getting lil fella's bath ready, i put him in his crib and he figured out how to turn his mobile on. Oh boy!

curmudgeon I’m certain your hotel has a licensing agreement with PepsiCo and Dr.P isn’t a brand Pepsi owns. Sucks but you’ll have to find your own. Is there a convenience or grocery store close by? Sorry about ds1 😩 puke clean up is awful. Your H would be appreciative when you return I’m sure

I work shift work and my days off this week fall during the week so it’s a weird feeling to technically be back to work but have the week days off. I was considering trying to switch to a M-F but I think I would miss the time off even though the days I work are super long.
I sent DD1 to daycare and kept the baby (is she technically a baby still?) home, we just went and did a big shop and my Walmart was clearing out a lot of gluten free products that weren’t selling so I scooped up a ton for cheap.
The IL’s are gone and I have conflicted feelings. This is the last time we will have them visit under the guise of ‘helping’. FIL doesn’t want to do anything but watch tv all day. Apparently he’s started not wanting to drive longish distances even though he’s 70 and has no known health issues. MIL is a hot mess health wise and her DR gave her max 4 years to live. I don’t think she’ll last that long, she has cirrhosis, doesn’t take care of herself, is Celiac, type 2 diabetes and has residual health issues from Polio. You can tell she has something wrong with her liver, she’s starting to look jaundiced and it’s swollen up her stomach. Once everything came out I felt bad for her but more bad that my kids won’t have much time with her. And mad because if she actually took care of herself she may have a few good years. She just has no interest in changing her ways. Sorry for the novel, apparently I have lots of feels about this.

H has a flat tire, so I told him to take my car today. Now or course I'm thinking of all the things I could go do, if I had a car with 4 inflated tires and a full tank of gas. I'm ordering delivery today.
Other than that, I just had to inform my child that I'm bigger than she is and therefore the diaper is going on her butt instead of in her mouth.

I think I’ll just have to go without because I don’t have my own transportation and the daily schedule is pretty nonstop. Good opportunity to kick my afternoon caffeine need. 😆

When do I need to start being concerned about how much TV the kiddos are watching? I like to have the TV on for background noise but this kid loves to stare at it. If I sit in front of her, she will practically fall over trying to see around me.

DD2 not only took her first real steps today... she spent the entire day walking all over daycare apparently! They sent me a video around lunch and said she didn’t stop walking till I picked her up. She walked right out the door to me 😁
Now, of course, she is acting like she can’t even crawl at home and whining to be carried everywhere.
