Day 1 back to work. I got stuck in traffic since I forgot how bad it gets and plus there was 2 accidents. I’m still waiting for security to get back to me about my pass so I’m essentially stuck in a tiny board room by myself in the basement until they can get back to me. I also have found out that a bunch of work peeps I was friendly with have moved to a different office. Nothing worse than being stuck all alone in silence with nowhere to go on your first day back.

August Blooms well that sucks. I know you wouldn’t trade that time you got with your LO for anything but I can imagine there might be some big changes in personnel and stuff over the course of a year too. Hopefully it all gets figured out soon for you.

To the surprise of absolutely no one in O17, DD2 is sick again. Guys I swear we wash hands and keep her away from sick kids and eat healthy foods and all the other shit your supposed to do to keep people healthy. And yet... she spiked a fever on saturday and we’ve just barely managed it with Tylonel and Motrin through today. H is home with her today and said she’s pretty much slept the whole day. I will be taking tomorrow off.
I called the pedi. They said it’s probably viral but keep an eye on it. I don’t even know what to do anymore. She is so sick all the time. These don’t even feel like little colds anymore. We go from 0 to 103 degree temps out of seemingly no where. ☹️

August Blooms, a year is a long time. I imagine it's almost like going to a new job in a somewhat familiar place. I personally would find it challenging all around. Hopefully your security access is all sorted out by now and you can start getting back into the groove with work and as time goes on with work/home balance.

danvers, oh no! This is so hard on all of you. I don't recall did you already have her 1 year check-up? did the pedi say anything about it? I am so so sorry. Thinking of baby girl and you. Big big hugs! I am wishing it all to go away fast.

Well we had a pretty good dumping of snow yesterday - like 4-5 inches. So we stayed at home in the morning and hubs changed the tires on one of the vehicles to snow tires and will get to the other after work today. DS has loads of fun sledding with his friend in the neighborhood yesterday afternoon. I wanted to join them but lil fella refused to nap but was so tired so I caved let him comfort nurse to sleep. He stayed latched for an hour. I admit it was nice and I miss nursing him but I was also bummed that I couldn't built snow mans and go sledding with DS and have snowball fights. My dad finally ended his hunger strike and ate a plate of food last night. I was so upset and brought him tea and food and told him if he didn't eat I will have to admit him to the hospital. He's still sulking. It's worse than having a child.

Both DS and DD had vaccinations today and we got lucky(?) and flu shot clinics opened today so they could get their flu shots at the same time! It means DD got 3 shots, DS got 4 and I got my flu shot all in one go. So we may be in for a rough evening but at least it’s all done at once!

Fall weather is happening!!!! It dropped like 30 degrees before noon. It feels amazing and I want soup. Baby’s party is Saturday and it’s supposed to continue raining and dropping. DS1 is on fall break and H is on vacation. I wish I was home with everyone enjoying the cool weather.

danvers Oh no! I’m so sorry she‘s sick again ☹️ Maybe you could bring up your concerns again with the pedi at her 1 yr checkup? It does seem like a lot of sickness you all have dealt with this first year. Hugs. August Blooms I hope they got your badge figured out and you escaped the basement! Reminds me of Milton Waddams from office space. 🤣 duskymonkey Like was for your dad eating - hope this is it for his tantrums! I hope you get to enjoy some of the snow with your DS1 too!

No more puke - wohoo! DS1 is back at school, and I’m catching up from taking a day off to be with him yesterday. Nobody else has gotten sick either - thank god! rebeccabunch DH and I finally watched the first 2 episodes of Forever last night. I really like it so far! We couldn’t stay awake for episode #3, so we’ll watch that tonight. I love Fred Armisen.

Weather was finally nicer today so I spent the afternoon pulling plants and trimming my shrubs and cleaning up the yard for winter. The kids were pretty happy to play outside while I worked, DS made it his mission to move leaves 😂 He picked them up one at a time and threw them into the mulch bed (exactly not where they need to end up but he was busy, happy, and out of my way so I could work so 🤷♀️)

August Blooms I hope they got your badge figured out and you escaped the basement! Reminds me of Milton Waddams from office space. 🤣 This is essentially me right now. On the plus side my day did improve, shortly after I wrote my tale of woe I ran into an old supervisor, then an old coworker and today I tracked down some old coworkers that I was working with before I went on mat leave and was able to catch up. So less time in the basement dungeon. I also found out that I may be able to transfer to another office, I just have to figure out who to talk to. Then I was able to get home, make dinner, and get the kids to bed without much issue. Except DH put the baby to bed without me saying good night.

DD2 is back at daycare this morning. No fever but it looks like she was breaking out in hives again?!?! So we gave her some Benadryl before she went in. That is exactly what happened the last time she spiked a fever of 103.
Also, another teacher at school said her daughter used to spike really high fevers when cutting her eye teeth. DD2 is cutting teeth (or rather, is always cutting teeth but I’m pretty sure she’s cutting her eye teeth) so I don’t want to just blame it on that but it makes more sense than just colds since I don’t think colds have really high fevers either.

danvers Both of my kids got fevers with teeth. Not 103 high, but still higher than normal. Hopefully that’s all is it this time for your DD. Oh, and DS1 used to get a weird rash each time the seasons changed. No fevers or itching to go with them. It was weird and Benadryl always cleared it up. Hopefully her rash goes away with the dose and isn’t anything.

doodlemommy we also had a rousing round of vaccinations over here including the flu shot. H brings home way too many germs for me to pass on that bad boy this year! Ev had her one year pedi appt today. Everything went as expected, which is good and bad. We are 29 inches, 20 pounds and 40-something head circ. E is meeting her milestones with the exception of gross motor and so at the recommendation of the pediatrician we have a referral for early intervention. I was hoping that we could wait a bit longer but she was pretty adamant that they like to see babies crawling, standing (pulling to stand) or walking at least by 1 year and Ev isnt doing any of that. She is showing more interest in standing within the last week or so, but no real progress I guess. A preview from our birthday pictures! All credit to Honey Bee Photography!!

cythe, her tutu looks splendid! Hoping you don't require EI. It seems a little early to make an assumption but it's good that you have a referral. Depending on your state and county, it could take a bit to get in the books and schedule initial evaluation and consults and set up appts. Hoping by then E will show some progress of some sort and you can cancel those appts. Lil fella has 0 words and our pedi isn't worried...naturally I am of course but the little that I know from my nephew ( sadly he is delayed in all areas ) that's the only thing I notice. Typically there are many related functions that one might not even think of. It's hard being a FTP too, since you have no frame of reference. Such an oxymoron for me to say this but don't worry too much ( of course you will ) Big hugs. Keep us posted.

cythe, Love the photo! I hope she starts making progress before you have to make any appointments! My nephew didn't really start crawling or walking on his own until about 13 months if i remember correctly. Can't wait to get our photos from the cake smash.

I've been off all social media for the last 10 days. Not a whole lot has changed. I finally started sleep training because 4-5 wakeups a night was killing me. We are getting 4 hour stretches now. He takes up to 3 steps at a time and has 4 words. Big brother is being nicer most of the time.

H took this pic last weekend when he was at his parents. She loves blocks. Stacking blocks. Throwing blocks. Knocking down blocks. Hitting people with blocks...

In non-kid related updates, my principal offered me an additional coaching position for our school if the gifted and talented/high ability students. I would remain a classroom teacher but have additional responsibilities for this population of students. There would be extra $$$ involved so I’m definitely considering it. I asked for more details though because two kids is no joke and there’s little time for work stuff until bed and by then I’m usually falling asleep with DD1!

DD1 did great with her tonsil removal. I came solo to it since we had no one to watch DD2 and H can save his sick days. I am starving. I’ve had a handful of stuff (literal handful) and could eat my arm but DD1 doesn’t want me to leave yet. I *think* they might be keeping us here tonight so at some point I will have to leave so I can eat. I’m hoping she falls asleep so I can sneak out and grab something from the cafeteria. Also pumping is a pain here and I wouldn’t even bother except now we may be here overnight.
But the important thing is DD1 is doing great and everything else is just small stuff
