cythe we had to replace the motor on our furnace recently. $600+. I feel ya. danvers same goal here, too. I do think nursing can help little ones get over illness sooner. I know you've had quite the year, hugs. And fx your clogs clear!!

After 48 hours of weird nursing and pumping and all sorts of hospital shenanigans, I had massive enforcement and clogs and so help me if I get mastitis after all this I’ll be ticked. DD2 has been nursing all afternoon because I’m shoving a boob in her face all the time and she’s like been humoring me but only nurses a few minutes. I’m going to try a heating pad later. My new nursing goal is to make it through cold and flu season. Do I think beeastmilk has some magical healing - ha. DD2 is one of sickest kids at school and I’ve breastfed sinc day1 (so no). It is easier though to get fluid in this way and we can probably safely assume she’ll be sick again. If we don’t make it past this weekend or next month of whenever, no big deal. But I don’t think I’m going to try and actively wean till after Marchish. this is definitely my go to, not because I think its some miracle (altho it does have antibodies and yadda yadda yadda) but because its a good, comforting way for babies to get extra fluids. Win win. Sorry about the clogs, I really hope it all passes and you can get on with life. The last thing you need right now is to be feeling poorly on top of not getting any sleep!

Guys, any advice for how to deal with this? Her little feet are in the slats and she also wakes up really pissed that she's wedged like that. I know bumpers are a no go when they're little but are they okay now? Would they even help? I keep thinking she will stop but this is week 2 of it

danvers Ugh - clogs are the worst! I get so stressed by them. Hope you make it through 🤞 cythe That sucks about your furnace. Like August Blooms said though, better for it to go out now, than on a cold night in the winter. codex320 Ah - next weekend for the party- have fun! I hope the other parents are cool!

cythe Oh E! That is not a comfy way to sleep!! I remember DS1 did that for like a month or two, and then he snapped out of it. I have heard or mesh/breathable bumpers for that kind of thing, but I think they are still technically a no go. 😕

They are technically a “no no” but DD2 got her sick stuck in awkward between slats and wall and traumatic for everyone so now we use them.

I really think by this age, there’s nothing all that risky about mesh bumpers. If we had a problem with legs getting stuck in slots, we’d totally use it. But that’s just me. As I type this, my LO is sleeping in our baby Bjorne travel crib, which is basically made of mesh bumper material. So yeah - I don’t think it’s a big deal 🤷♀️

cythe is that a sleep sack she’s wearing? That would be my only suggestion otherwise, I feel like it would be harder to get stuck? My some miracle neither of my kids have ever stuck their feet out so I don’t really know! They are also both tummy sleepers and I started putting them down on their tummies as soon as they could roll which is technically also a no no so 🤷♀️

Shes a very adamant back sleeper and would hardly move during the night. Then suddenly 2 weeks ago, she decided she could and would roll onto her side (God forbid she rolls to her belly!) and kind of flop around that way. Now she sleeps most of the time sideways

cythe, i think the main risk for mesh bumpers is that they will use them as a step to climb out. I think you are probably okay to use them until she gets over it

DD1 is struggling with drinking and eating today so I’ve resorted to bribery. I made a sticker chart and every time she drinks a cup of water or eats a popsicle or a yogurt or whatever she gets a sticker. A full sticker chart = a new Thomas train.
H is worried she’ll fill two or three sticker charts and we will have to buy her more toys. 😑
So the alternative is having to take her to the emergency room in a few days for dehydration?!?! Like, her tonsils are not going to get better in just a day or two. So her not drinking now means a more sore throat tomorrow and then it will be even harder to drink. I feel like my option is ultimately cheaper and less traumatic.

The baby had his first taste of cow milk today and you would have thought we gave him a bottle of sugar. Frantic grabbing at the air and inhaling it in half a second.
We had his party and I’m so tired! I need to do evening parties so I can go to sleep right after.

danvers I think a sticker chart is great! We use them with DS1, and it really improves his behavior. Plus, as you said - the sticker chart rewards are cheaper than the alternative of a return to the hospital. We buy sticker chart rewards (like cars and trains) from the second hand shop. Not sure if that is an option for you. curmudgeon Glad to hear the party went well!

Here at the beach. Everyone’s having a great time- the resort we are staying at is insanely kids friendly. Love it. They have a big pirate ship thing, splash pads, and slides. Weather is good too, plus beach. LO is a huge fan of the splashy stuff. I’m going to be an AW:
Poof!

Whelp - literally 10 minutes after I posted, DS1 took a spill and smacked his head on a concrete step when he was with DH and our nanny at the pool. I was in the room with a napping LO. Nurse came to check out DS1, no signs of concussion - put some ice on it. Said to watch him closely, as there is now a goose egg on the side of his head.
No joke - an hour later as I am coming down to the pool with LO, DH runs up to me and says that DS1 got stung by a jellyfish on the beach. Both lower legs were stung. 😩. I told DH and our nanny to keep DS1 away from the water on the beach, as there was a yellow caution flag out for jellyfish. They thought it would be ok for DS1 to wade in the water. 😩 Sigh.
Soooooo....between the fall and the jellyfish stings, I made DH take DS1 to the hospital to make sure a doctor looked over everything. Thank goodness there is a decent hospital like 5 min from our hotel. Doctor said the sting is mild - we need to closely watch DS1 for signs of concussion/brain swelling...and for signs of jellyfish venom poisoning/infection. No more swimming for DS1 for a week 😭😩. We have to go back to the hospital every morning for the rest of our trip so they can look at the sting site, since DS1 is only 3.
So there goes our fun vaycay. What bad luck- I am irritated all this stuff happened in the 90 minutes when I wasn’t around due to LO’s nap.
DS1 seems fine and he’s not in pain, thank goodness. At least LO and our nanny’s kids can still enjoy the pool the next 2 days we are here. Bah.
TLDR; DS1 hit his head on concrete and got stung by a jellyfish in the span of my 90 min absence to watch LO during his morning nap. DS1 is ok, but it’s kind of messed up our vacation ☹️

Thanks guys! We ended up having a nice dinner beach-side and the kids went to sleep okay. DS1 has been acting normal, so I’m hoping the vaycay will just improve from here! Appointment at the hospital tomorrow at 9:30am where they will check on him again. Hopefully all goes well!🤞

There are so many of these around here because COL is low and you can get a hideously large tract house for a relatively low price. One subdivision in particular has a lot of the 10 category. It’s like the more crap they add in, the more it costs. And the community is Tuscan themed. It’s real bad.

danvers glad you guys are home! And I'm all over the bribery when there's health issues at stake. Get those fluids in her any way you can for the next week or two then figure it out from there once she's healed. Taitai 3 year olds!!! Ugh. Sounds like you guys will still have an amazing time even if it means staying out of the ocean. cythe, we use the mesh bumpers. I didn't know they were bad?? I thought that's why they were MESH. 🤷♀️ but they've been in DS2's crib all along for limb/binky containment.

I’m so hungry. I’m trying to talk to H about dinner options but he is ignoring me and going on about some wooden Christmas cutouts he wants to make for the yard. He thinks he’s going to start a side business. 🙄
Other than that the weather has been amazing. High 60s/low 70s with a cool breeze and perfect for porch sitting. We’ve spent the whole day outside just doing random projects or organizing.

Not much here. My mom came down this weekend to help with DD1. DD1 loved the attention and was in pretty good spirits most of the weekend. Nights are the hardest but even last night she only woke up twice. DD2 is back to sleeping through the night so hopefully by week’s end both children will be sleeping again!!
House looks like a tornado cane through it with toys everywhere but both girls had a blast with my mom and H and I got a date night out if it so I can’t complain too much.

We got the baby his first pair of shoes today since he is walking more than crawling. I’m glad H will be the one to shove these tiny shoes on his fat feet every morning. It took me forever at the store.

Day 2 of vacation- DS1’s head and jellyfish sting look good! The doctor was so impressed this morning by how well the sting site looking that he said DS1 can probably go swimming tomorrow. We go home tomorrow afternoon, but hopefully we can get a nice morning swim in.
Had a fun morning- But then LO puked up his entire pouch at lunch 😩. I think it might have been that he was so excited to eat and sucked down the pouch too quickly. No fever, and he’s kept down breast milk and Cheerios since. Gah!
DH and I are going out for a date tonight after the kids go to bed while our nanny stays with them. We deserve it!

When we lived in south FL, there were so many horrible monstrosities all over the place. Beautiful mansions were plentiful too (like Viscaya), but the McMansions. Ugh. I’m addicted to this website now and reading all the 101 articles...nodding along, like YES - I hate that about houses!! Maybe I should have been an architect? 🤔

Now that it’s been read it I’m like yes! That’s why that house is so ugly. There were a lot of McMansions where I grew up. Like, he very well may have taken pictures of the merighborhoods near my parents. 😆 Also, Now I know what I certainly won’t be building should I win the mega millions 😂
