He accidentally ate some tiny morsels of spinach for dinner last night so H and I have been joking that's what finally made him able to walk. The power of spinach. If you haven't figured out a costume yet, I bet he'd make an adorable Popeye!

For anyone curious about what a red "baby egg" looks like: I basically made him an egg shaped tunic from felt, with a hat made out of the scraps. Then painted his face so he looked like a dinosaur coming out of the egg.
He was soooooo happy! (Even though no one knew what he was dressed as)

We are still stuck in two nap land. I'm both dreading and looking forward to dropping down to one nap.

I don't want to jinx it but DS1 is FINALLY potty training! I'm so relieved but now I need to get him comfortable using unfamiliar toilets for when we go to Universal.

Do any of your kids take their one nap in the morning rather than mid-day or afternoon? He takes his nap right after lunch at daycare, usually 12-2, and we’ve been keeping a similar schedule at home, though sometimes a little earlier. But if we try to fit something in before his nap he often falls asleep in the car. I wonder if we’d better off napping him at home in the morning or if it’s easier to keep the same schedule as daycare (though he only goes 3 days/week).

This happened for a while and then he gradually was able to make it until 12. He just had to adjust to being up longer

Has anyone with older kids done ABA therapy? DS1 was diagnosed with mild autism (what used to be called Asperger’s), and it was suggested to us. The waitlist is super long, though, because our home availability is crap until our house is completed.

Like, I like that morning nap time so I can work and get a few quick things done around the house but...ugh. I'd like to get back to my 9am gym classes! DS2 neeeeeds it though. Like even today, he slept great last night, no wakeups, and didn't get up til 7:30. But come 9:15 he was d.o.n.e. 🤷♀️

Has anyone heard of thing "you've been boo'd" trend in neighborhoods?
Well, someone in our neighborhood got us and I'm annoyed by it (yes, I'm aware I'm being a grinch). We don't know anyone here and now I have to feel like a creep putting goodies on someone's porch that I don't know. I'm going to use the same bucket of stuff we got because this thing has to be $20 worth of stuff.

Candy, cookie mix, cookie cutters, oven mit, stickers, etc. It's an insane amount of stuff. Can't one night of trick or treat be enough?? MH says I'm being dramatic but it's just one more "Pinterest-y" thing to do. I'm just re-gifting the stuff. 🤷🏻♀️

I’m going to reach out to our pediatrician tomorrow but what should I be doing for fluoride for a 14 month old? I have well water and I grew up with city water with fluoride in it so my mom can’t help me I think the official recommendation is to use toothpaste with fluoride. If you have well water the pediatrician may recommend a fluoride varnish.

Most permanent teeth are formed by 12 to 18 months

Just picked up from the pharmacy and am concerned about the long term effects on her teeth. It’s not her doctors fault but at the same time WTF , what if I I never asked? Where are you located? There may natural flouride in the water. Don't feel bad, I wouldn't have thought of it either and my mother is a pediatric hygienist.

I have well water, I’m in Mass. where is it in naturally? I must google Does your kid take pediatric vitamins by perscription? My mom's sitting next to me and feeding me these questions, if they sound weird.

@starzia Ok so here's your plan moving forward:
Give the flouride drops everyday religiously. Set a timer like you would do for your birth control so you don't forget. You still have some time until the teeth are fully developed.
Start brushing your kids teeth twice a day. You do it for her. You don't need toothpaste! Just brush with water until they can spit.
Limit sugar, especially sugary drinks and do not let your kid go to bed without brushing.
For any subsequent kids start the drops at birth along with the vitamin D.

Yes defiantly the next kid at birth. Why don’t they ask this at the hospital and give the scrip at discharge like the vitamin d drops. ?? I wish the nurses were half as concerned about this and less obsessive about breastfeeding. I don’t do juice at all I will up the brushing to twice a day. What age do I use real toothpaste? I use the baby banana orajel stuff. Thank you , and thank you to your mom for all the advice I can't speak to the nurses, but they probably don't know. Teeth are not considered a medical thing, unfortunately. There's no real need for toothpaste until 6 or 7 and they need a dot the size of a small pea. Too much toothpaste can be a problem because they end up swallowing it and then can get too much flouride then. Toothpaste is really just to make it taste better when you're brushing your teeth. It's a placebo effect because people feel they're doing something more with the tingling and bubbles and such. Now they have whiting toothpastes but it's all pretty much crap. The only toothpaste that really does anything is the stuff at the dentists office that has the grits in it. When your kid is older and their permanent teeth come in, you may want to invest in sealants to protect them from cavities.

We're on a well too and I'm sure I started fluoride drops earlier with DS1, but forgot to ask until DS2's one year check up last month, so now we're doing drops with him too. I wish his pedi would have brought it up earlier. But we did the drops with DS1 until he was 4 or so I believe? Then he started using regular fluoride toothpaste because he learned how to spit. He also is in the fluoride program at school (first grade), which I didn't know was a thing until this year. I think every week the nurse comes into the classroom and every kid who's signed up gets a cup of fluoride to swish and rinse. FWIW DS1 has always had good dental checkups 🤷♀️

I mean, aside from the candy, cookie mix, and stickers....who wants all that shit??!! We only have a couple neighbors so we generally avoid this nonsense. My sister and BIL do this crap in their neighborhood though but i think they did theirs with like a couple fall beers and some candy? That I can kiiiiind of get behind but I'm still team ain't nobody got time for that.

It's going to rain all day. We're going to a neighbor's house for a game night. I'm secretly glad SD won't end up with buckets of candy this year.
DS hasn't actually worn his costume yet, so we'll see how it goes at school today when they do their classroom ToT. I played with the makeup for SD's costume last night, and I'm pretty excited about that.

He is an angel at daycare so maybe they'll be able to get him to wear it.

We went lazy with hers and got sparkly leggings, wings, and a horn headband from Target. But then we found awesome bright makeup to top it off. And glitter, obvs.
