What's everyone up to? Are you enjoying fall activities? What are your Halloween plans? Any new developments?

We've been biking, picking apples, going to various events/festivals... generally enjoying fall and keeping busy. We have family coming into town next weekend and then H is out of town for most of the week so we'll see how that goes.
I'm thinking of a gnome for J for Halloween but I haven't actually done anything about it.

I really want to get to the apple orchard with DS. We're going to Oktoberfest on Saturday. We took him last year, and he just slept on me in the Boba the whole time. So this will be exciting for him. He's a people watcher and loves places like the farmers market.
He's going to be Winnie the Pooh for Halloween. I found the costume for $4 at OUAC. I'm going to paint a small bucket for his "hunny pot" and maybe get the Eeyore adult onesie from Target to go with. Easy peasy.

gingy, we've gone twice already because there is one really close to us. They have wagons for the little ones and he loves riding in them and picking apples and putting them in the bag. Oktoberfest sounds like fun! We've gone to a few events with live bands and J was really into watching them and clapping.

We used to have an orchard really close to us, but it shut down several years ago. There's a new one about 20 minutes away and they have rave reviews so far. We've had shit weather on the weekends lately, so hopefully we can go soon.

It's the most wonderful time of year!
We've got a few fall things planned this month, hopefully we can get them all done. I think DS1 is going to be Emmet from the Lego Movie for Halloween and DS2 is going to be a Lego brick.

I love fall! We're taking total advantage. We've already been applepicking and this month we've got a fall festival, Halloween events at the amusement park and local museums, and we've got to hit up a pumpkin patch. DH and I are doing Oktoberfest without the kids.
I get multiple costumes this year. My oldest is running a Halloween race with me and wants me to dress up as a zombie like him. But for our Halloween events, the little guy has decided he wants to be Spider-Man and wants me to be a "mommy spiderman."

Both H and I are traveling for a week this month for work and the other two weeks are our annual meetings. I hate October
DS1 will be Thomas the train and DS2 with be James.

If I am feeling ambitious I will make gnome hats for me and my H but it's unlikely it will actually get done.

DS still has no idea what he wants to be for Halloween and he's old enough that it probably won't go well if we choose for him. I'm hoping he'll actually decide on something when I take him to look at costumes this weekend.

A lemur, racoon, and fox. Wow, that sounds hard - I'm impressed!

J's daycare out of nowhere sent me a letter saying that he will move up to the big toddler room, which is supposedly for 20-30 MOs, in November when he will be 17 months. He is tiny for his age and also not walking, though I know that could change in a month. I imagine they are shuffling kids around and the young toddler room needs space, but what the heck. They sleep on mats! They drink from open cups! I just can't imagine he would be ready for it.

It seems like right after I mentioned in passing to our pediatrician about DD’s expressive language, she’s had a language explosion. Her teachers at daycare report she says a lot of words and holophrases. Her receptive language has always been on point.
I just ordered DD’s Halloween costume. She’s going to be an 80s workout toddler. I know she’s not wearing anything on her head or back so most store bought costumers were off the table.
We are also finally ready to purchase a convertible car seat. DD is barely 21 pounds and she’s short so she’s been fine in her infant car seat.

We transition at the end of the month when he hits 18m (finally! He’s so bored in the infant room)

They are actually the same room, just divided in half, so they are on the same nap schedule and such.

He would probably end up across the room if he slept uncontained. He is pretty good at drinking out of open cups but requires a lot of supervision or he often ends up quite wet.

piratecat I still think the whole mat is the reason why her naps are so short. I would imagine her crib is more comfortable than the mat. We still use sippy cups at home...

Is there where I confess that I don't let either kid drink from an open cup? Straw cups or 360 cups unless I'm sharing a sip of my OJ or something.
