I'm just starting to trust my 4yo with open cups. The almost 3yo and 18 month no way in hell.

DS1 wants to be a pokemon for Halloween so by default DS2 will be another, smaller pokemon. H and I will go as "trainers" meaning we'll be wearing backpacks and baseball hats 🤷♀️

Ours starts doing this at 18 months so this doesn’t strike me as odd. We transition at the end of the month when he hits 18m (finally! He’s so bored in the infant room) He is currently in a young toddler room, 13-20 months. They are actually the same room, just divided in half, so they are on the same nap schedule and such. For my oldest, they called this the "wobbler" room. It was walking through 18 months. Then the toddler room was 18 months through 2 years. Then preschool started at 2 years.

Yesterday the 3 year old decided he wants to be a zombie with his brother and dad. Soooooo glad I bought the spider-girl leggings and shirt. Hopefully I still have the receipt to bring them back.

I am getting a little tired of everyone expecting him to walk. He is probably tired of people trying to get him to walk all the time too. H is guilty of it and I am always just telling him to let him be. It amuses me a little when H or other people ask him if he can walk and he answers "no" very matter of factly.

I can't wait until he just tells her "no" on his own. Leave him alone, woman.

We finally gave up on gentle night weaning techniques and cut DS off cold turkey on Friday night. The first two nights were rough. Sunday was better. Then last night, HE STTN!! I don't want to jinx it because he has another molar coming in, but damn, I could get used to this.

If your kid is a late walker like mine your MIL may be in for a long wait.

There is always something that could disrupt their sleep but once we night weaned, we didn't look back. We will go in and pick him up to console him or whatever but MOTN nursing was off the table from that point on. Good luck and I hope this is a new normal for you!

We have officially begun weaning off the binkie. We stopped giving it in the car and she is down to one at bedtime, but I slit the nipple to cut down on suction. This came after I noticed that DD has an enormous overbite most likely exacerbated by binkie use. So far DD is having none of it and it may lead me back to drinking on weekday nights. Dear lord.

Oh gosh, I am really dreading this, I'm sorry! My kid was very non-dependent on the pacifier until he got sick a few months ago and we started giving it to him at bedtime. He only uses it at bedtime/naps and in the car but he would love to have it all the time if he could. I kind of wish we had just powered through the illness instead. Do I just let it be until it's time to take it away and go cold turkey and deal with the consequences and drink heavily then?

Supposedly it encourages them to give it up on their own since it's less satisfying. We'll see though.

I think that will be harder to give up than bedtime. I hope she gets over it soon.

M only has his at bedtime and we tried to go cold turkey last week; that failed miserably. We're going to be moving him out of the crib and into a big kid bed, in a new room, soon and we'll try again then.
