Busy planning DS’s birthday party! It’s a Where the wild things are theme, his birthday shirt (Wild One) just shipped today! His birthday is oct 12, party oct 13 but we are on vacation from this Saturday until oct 9 and then I work the wed-fri before the party so I need to plan and get organized before we go!

doodlemommy such a cute theme! I think we’re going to do Eric Carle theme for DD2. I got her a first birthday onesie with tutu off Etsy a few weeks ago. Are you going somewhere for this upcoming vacation?

Just pumping in the supply closet. I’m barely getting anything and while I had planned to cut out my morning pump when’s DD2 turns 1, I’m not even sure if it would be worth it to keep the lunch pump. I’ll keep nursing in the mornings or at night as long as she wants but I’m looking forward to eating lunch in the staff room again and holding real conversations with adults.
Tonight my school is having a fairy tale themed literacy party. H has basketball so I’m taking the girls to it. DD1 is super excited to wear one of her princess dresses and I’m going to see if DD2 will keep her tutu on or not for it.

Hi all! We had DS's 1st birthday party this weekend. It's such a bittersweet time, but his party was absolutely perfect. I'll come back later on tapa to post a few pictures. He actually turns 1 on Wednesday and I just can't believe it. Where did the time go? He also decided over the weekend that he wanted to walk, so that's fun. I can't believe all of these babies are growing up so quickly!!!

I made some awesome steaks and mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner. Which I ate alone. Now I’m at the grocery store waiting for my pick up. I was going to exercise tonight but damn I’m tired.

DD2 did not, in fact, keep her tutu on for fairy tale night. She wanted to eat it. So we’ll just save that for her party in two weeks 😬 curmudgeon steak and potatoes sound so good! And I totally get the exercise thing. I’m pretty worthless after dinner.... thatgirlrachel another walker! These babies aren’t babies anymore 😩 |

I need to plan something for DD2’s birthday but I still have no idea what schedule I’ll be working when I go back so that’s making things challenging.
We went to look at more houses in our potential new area, the weather was nice so got to see more of the vibe of the neighborhood with the kids out playing and people walking their dogs. The house was a bust, 300 sq ft smaller than ours and much more expensive. I’m not going to move to pay more for less. So the hunt continues.

My fall dinner last night turned out well! www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/chicken_and_apples_in_honey_mustard_sauce/I followed the recipe exactly except I doubled the sauce and I cut the chicken breasts in half so they were thinner. Thick chicken breasts gross me out. We served it w rice. The sauce wasn’t too sweet for us but some of the reviews mentioned adding more mustard or a little Apple cider vinegar if you thought it was too sweet. |

Back to reality this week. It’s been raining a lot and the streets have been flooding on the regular, which is gross. Just a few more months until the rainy season is over!
LO has been nursing so much at night lately! He hasn’t wanted to stay in his crib the past few nights, and I’m tired from being nursed on all night 😩. I am thinking growth spurt.

Taitai mine is being a milk monster lately too. I think my supply dropped when I stopped pumping at work and she’s mad as hell and wants to fix it I guess. So she’s attached to my boobs like Velcro.

No theme...just a yummy cake with marzipan train cos I made the mistake of asking DS what cake should we make for lil bro. danvers , baby girl all better yes? I cannot believe our babies are going to be 1 next week 😢😭 Taitai , lizard closet, *shudders* bootsorhearts1, a couple of weeks ago baby was nursing so aggressively, caused an open sore on my nips 😫

So after day 3 of trying with a sippy, he’s taking some milk from my mom so we’ve been working on that. Thanks for the straw suggestions. I’ll look further into it. My question about the weighted straws are how much of a PITA is it to clean? We had a pretty good weekend. I ended up making a huge ( half sheet pan size 🤣) pear croustade. I forgot how simple and easy it is and flavours are perfect for fall. I’ll post the recipe plus I still owe August Blooms a congee recipe. It was like all gone by the time I was finished feeding baby and gobbled my dinner down. So I guess I’ll have to make it this weekend again. DS helped me make the crust so that was nice and with my mom trying to get baby for naps, I was able to spend some time with DS...we went for a bike ride and to the playground and hubs got some work done in the backyard. I also got to wash and scrub our upper patio. Hoping to do the lower this week. |

duskymonkey, your memory is impressive. LO's birthday is Thursday 9/27 (!!!). I'm almost positive there were 4 of us with LOs arriving that day.... LOs birthday party is this weekend and I'm....not prepared. The only thing I've done is reschedule my house cleaning from today to Friday. We do not go over the top by any means, but I need to get in gear. For sure.

The MIL invited herself for a 2 week visit for DD2’s birthday.  She’s welcome to visit but not when I’m paying for daycare for 2 kids and she wants us to keep them home. And plus both of us need the cars for work... I told DH Christmas or the week I’m traveling for work so they can help with the kids. |

August Blooms Oh no! The MIL who doesn’t like to book return tickets right? Didn’t that happen when your LO was born? I hope she doesn’t come anyways! Christmas sounds like more fun and festive. cythe I remember we had our babies within a day of each other. DS1 turns 1 on Oct 14th. Weren’t we both in prodromal labor? @mamabakes was around the same time too, right?

It's been a hit or miss with lil fella drinking milk with my mom. He's also having a hard time with her putting him down for naps. So it's been kinda rough. Now that he's eating real food, I suppose I am less worried. On a good note, my hair stylist called me and said she had a cancellation tomorrow and I could stop in to get my hair cut. It's been like over a year! So I am excited about that and also I have a dentist appt. tomorrow and excited to get my teeth cleaned. It's weird but I love when I get my teeth cleaned.

August Blooms, 2 weeks is a long time if MIL is difficult to be around with. I am so lucky that for the most part my folks and hubs get along. There are some things that rubs us the wrong way but nothing we aren't able to tolerate. I found what looks to be a good recipe for basic chicken congee.If you do a search on the site, there are other several congee recipes. You can really add whatever you want and think will go together. I often add diced carrots and thinly sliced shiitake mushrooms to my chicken based. The key is starting with a good broth. There are plain ones without broth but those are often eaten with salted eggs and salted fish and other salted and pickled vegetables.
