I’m sorry A is still having a rough time with school cagoldi. It’s still early in the year. Give it time. This is his first time switching schools all together right?

When this is all over can I send ya’ll my cousins addresses and we can bombard them with glitter bombs? I’m so pissed. They’re trying to say I should pay a portion of the mediation on the lawsuit they’re bringing against my father. Lol all day. My dad just offered them each an additional 5K to close the estate. It’s killing him to do it, but at this point if we have to go all the way to trail it’s going to eat into the money that is left in the estate and everyone is going to start losing money. I want to punch them in their fucking throats.

He was at the same DC from 12 weeks through Pre-K. He doesn't remember having to make new friends because they were always just there.

cagoldi I’m sorry things are hard. Any way the teachers can help by stimulating interactions between A and another kid by starting up an activity?

I am in such a mood right now. It’s horribly rainy, and I’m getting af. in the next two or three days. Making brownies with the kids to try to turn this day around.

Yikes, inthekitty . I'm sorry both girls are having a hard time with the transition. This really sucks, doesn't it? Imagine how we'll all feel when they have their first heartbreak? I could have a panic attack just thinking about it. I know. I've thought of this before and had to get it out of my mind because even just imaging it is gut wrenching. The girls and I were watching 13 Going on 30 last night and I thought of mean girl behavior and know it's inevitable they'll run into some of it, let alone boy issues. Gah.

I'm in a horrible mood too. I work this weekend and just want to sleep in and cuddle with my girls on the couch and watch movies.

That would make me want to punch something too, xolastunicornxo . It sucks but your dad might be right to just get it done. My dad was sued by two former employees years ago; the suit was thrown out, b/c it was bogus. His attorney told him two things: 1) he was shocked my dad had been in business so long (15 yeas at that point) without being sued, and 2) it's usually cheaper to settle (ahem...would have been nice to know that on the front end, dude). My dad could have settled for $5K, but he (rightly) felt he didn't owe them anything. He spent way more than 5K on the legal fees, but didn't bother to countersue b/c he knew it would be like trying to get blood from a turnip. (Fast forward a decade and they were actually at a funeral recently and these two guys were there and attempted to approach my dad like, "oh, good to see you, let's let bygones be bygones, blah blah". My mom said it took everything she had to not make a scene, and my dad was very cool and didn't shake their hands.)

Thanks for letting me vent and live blog guys. Its done. They settled. I’m pissed that my dad had to give them anything, but it would have cost more money to keep fighting them. The worst part is while I’m just pissed at the stupid sacks of shit, my dad is genuinely hurt, and that hurts my heart for him.

My pedicure is done and I wanted to fall asleep on the foot rub. So relaxing. Next up... massage. 🧖🏾♀️ I will not feel like going back home to finish cleaning after.

But they don't see each other for much of the day because the friend is in morning TK and Dude is in afternoon. They have afternoon recess together though. I asked about that friend and he said that he told him he doesn't want to play with Atticus? I kind of doubt it, honestly, he's a pretty sweet, sensitive kid and very similar to Dude. He went over to try to comfort Atticus this morning when he got upset. I suspect maybe the friend said something to the effect of "I'm playing alone right now" or "I'm playing with someone else right now" and Dude feels like that was a major injury.

I’m sorry xolastunicornxo people and money are the fucking worst! And to suggest that you get in on it, in the words of Cyndi Lauper ‘I see your true colours’. Gross. Money comes and goes but relationships and integrity last a lifetime, you and your Dad are on the right side of this for sure.

Dr appt went well for S. The ENT said every thing looks good. And she didn’t see a need for a repeat sleep study at this point unless the neurologist wants one. Then the Neurosurgeon was pleased with her shunt. But he also does the surgery for the Vagus Nerve Stimulator (VNS). And wants us to talk to the neurologist about trying that to help with her seizures.
VNS is a device used to treat seizures when seizure drugs are not effective and surgery is not possible. VNS consists of a pacemaker-like generator that is implanted in the chest wall and is programmed by the physician to stimulate the vagus nerve in the neck. Thin wires are threaded under the skin and woven around the vagus nerve in the neck. This device often reduces the frequency of seizures and can also be activated by a patient or caregiver to stop seizures just as they are beginning.
Vagus nerve stimulation can work for any seizure type, but it is most often used for children with debilitating epilepsy. The VNS device often becomes more effective the longer it is in, and physicians typically know within six months if the VNS is helping to control the child's seizures.
So we are going to explore the possibility of that.
