tgrimes That's awful! Clearly the crown wasn't completed properly if it was able to get infected. Raise hell lady, this is not something that you should be paying for. I agree with this. How long has it been in her mouth? March or Aprilish.

Oh man, sorry joelies, but maybe he'll still be excited tomorrow... I think sometimes these things are harder on us! But yeah, Mr. Joelies, don't go into the school once you've dropped off, no good can come of that!

My mother just told me yesterday that she was considering buying some type of marijuana cream for my dad's legs. Apparently he's fallen twice in the last couple of weeks. "The lady that sells it says she uses it everyday for her arthritis and it's worked wonders."
Key words there are LADY THAT SELLS IT.

I’m so sorry, joelies. I’m curious about the situation. If the kids need sunscreen in elementary school do parents have to bring it in and apply it (or if it is stored there, does a parent have to come in to out it on?) I know it wouldn’t be a big deal in maybe second through fifth grade but what’s the protocol for little kids?

I've seen people lately hawking the CBD oil, I guess it's a new MLM???? This is craziness to me. Is CBD oil the one that's supposed to fix your ailments without giving you the "high"? Yes, there is no THC in it which is the component that gets you “high”. I’m in the middle on this issue. I think it’s overused. But as a parent of a child with intractable epilepsy, I can also see the desperation for something...anything...to help your child. I personally know someone who is using it for her child with epilepsy. She is a well educated person who researches everything extensively. She made the choice to give it a try after many failed medications. It’s still to early to tell if it is making a difference as she’s just started it. For us, we have considered it, but we put our faith in the medical world and are going to exhaust those options first. S is on 4 different seizure meds 3x a day, and clearly, still not controlled. However, the FDA recently approved Epidiolex (cannabidiol) [CBD] oral solution for the treatment of seizures associated with two rare and severe forms of epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome, in patients two years of age and older. This is the first FDA-approved drug that contains a purified drug substance derived from marijuana. S has Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome. It is supposed to be available to be prescribed by a medical doctor sometime in late fall. I plan to ask about it at our next neurologist appointment. Just for more information, and to get the doctors thoughts on it. If she feels it could help S we would definitely go for it.

However I think it’s more mind over matter.

joelies Were you on board with your H going to the school? Can y'all not just put a strong sunscreen on him in the morning and hope for the best? I mean, I know we're supposed to wear it all day/every day, but he's realistically only going to be 'at risk' for the first couple weeks of school before it starts cooling down, and they're probably not outside for huge chunks of time. I feel like going every day to apply it is a big interruption for both C and his classmates and teacher. guster Not sure about where y'all are, but down home typically schools won't take the responsibility of putting sunscreen on...if you want it on, you come to school with it on, but they're not applying it for the children, (probably for liability reasons.)

That makes sense to me. And I would guess that once a kid is eight or nine they could take it in their bag and apply themselves.

For N, we apply sunscreen in the morning and he has a sunscreen stick he uses on his face and arms in the afternoon. The teachers will not apply sunscreen for the kids and we aren’t allowed to send the spray or cream.

So moving forward, daycare is going to put on his usual SPF 50 for the next few weeks before he gets on the bus. We just didn't think of it today and neither did they, so DH went to the school to put it on him. As it turns out, it got in his eyes during recess when he started sweating on the swings, which makes more sense (it being freshly applied and all). The nurse made it seem like he was in her office all morning but apparently that's not the case, he was actually having a great first day. So he's spending the afternoon in front of the TV - not ideal, but necessary - and he's looking forward to going back tomorrow.
I feel a bit better now.

I know you're not looking for any justification, and you don't need to, but In your situation it is 💯 reasonable to look into that option.
