My kids' feet must be insane because the wide Saucony's were still too snug. This bothers me only because they got their wide feet from me. I have zero arch and my feet have always been so embarrassing, even before all the running!

Morning!!
Colin had his italian ice social at the elementary school yesterday evening. I was afraid he'd clam up and not leave our sides, but as soon as his finished his ice, he ran right off without hesitation. He played a lot with the other kids from daycare but also wandered over to the soccer field with a few other random boys. It was SO HOT and he was a sweaty mess by the end of it, but he seemed perfectly happy and wanted to take a quick peek at his new class before we left. I got to catch up with some of the other Moms from daycare and we brought in our school supply donations - I was pleasantly surprised that pretty much every family came with something, it definitely feels like a very involved community. All in all, I'm feeling a little less nervous about tomorrow.
Meanwhile DH anchored Chase's dresser at some point during the day yesterday, so he decided to change the crib over at bathtime. No clue why he waited so late - I had to keep the boys in the tub for ages - but Chase was thrilled. He was all smiles this morning, bragging about his big kid bed. Now we just need to truly tackle potty training...

Also I have a few tiny patches from pulling out some poison sumac this weekend. I can't believe such a small rash can be THIS itchy!

She's moving to a different state to live with him and they only reconnected last week? They reconnected on Facebook in June then made plans for her to move before she even went and saw him in person. She has made some very interesting decisions with men in the past so while concerning, this is not really surprising. That is crazy. MH & I reconnected at our reunion & were going to move in with each other after only dating 5 months. We ended up waiting another 6 months but it would have saved us a lot of money if we had just moved in together when we discussed it. That being said, I can understand how she'd feel comfortable with reconnecting with someone she already knew. But...quitting your job and moving to a different state seems sort of extreme. Please live blog this meet up.

MH and I “met” after working in the same department for 5 years. I don’t think we moved super quickly but there was already an ease to the relationship bc of that. //anecdote

So you said they wore the vans, those are wide? B needs a second pair of sneakers, maybe I'll get those. I have wide feet, MH has flat feet. Our poor kids...

Yup, their medium widths fit both my boys. Our biggest issue is narrowing down which pair to buy.

tgrimes plae shoes would be perfect for that scenario. You can buy the extra long Velcro strips for them. You can even mix and match colors for those that like to do that (my ocd can’t handle that, lol). That’s what I got for S when she had her SMO’s (ankle braces). ETA: tagging @klongoria also as this may be helpful to you too when C gets her SMO’s.

She's moving to a different state to live with him and they only reconnected last week? My Aunt did that.
{Spoiler} It didn't last long and resulted in yet another divorce. I know someone whose wife was a stay at home mom (kids 4, 2 and 6mo at the time) when she left him for someone she met online who she had not met in person. She moved out of state, left the kids and now sees them once a month...

Hope preschool open house goes well mwhip! I"m sure she will transition in just fine Oh wow kim22... I can see how it could work since they've known each other before but with a sketchy man history.... hmm... That recipe looks really good wineallthetime! What is hoisin sauce? I've never heard of it. I'm trying Walmart grocery pickup for the first time! I just placed my order and will pick it up in the morning. This has potential to be amazing. Now I'm trying to figure out if I can apply my savings catcher money to my order. Gunner is still being a hot mess for preschool every single day. I kept getting notes from his teacher telling me to talk to him about his day and what he is supposed to be doing at school.... DUH lady. So finally I wrote her back and told her I already have been doing that. But, I guess he is crying and not participating for the first HOUR or so. I'm really at a loss of what to do about it. Also, I'm not in love with this school... I'm hoping one of the waitlists he is on calls so I can move him.

Morning! I ended up having a bit of a crazy night last night. My bff called me in a panic because they were worried her older son had appendicitis (who is Landon’s bff) and we’re taking him to the hospital and asked if they could drop their younger son off. Of course that is fine, but it was a lot with five kids in the house and no help! Their still there and dad didn’t pick LO up until almost 9. I was going to just have him spend the night but he was already starting to freak out. Then C was up and restless again most of the night and our little friend got dropped back off at my house at 6 so dad could go back to the hospital.

I’m so sorry, @sands. Guessing it’s a lot of transition for him. New house, new town, new school, YH recently leaving. Poor kid. I hope the teachers are more understanding of all those changes.

sands42, my hoisin sauce was expired so I googled and made my own with soy sauce, sesame oil, peanut butter, brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, pepper and hot sauce.

Hi! Not sure if i even posted yesterday. Work has been nuts and then I had a girls night last night which was great, but didn’t get home until midnight. So now I’m exhausted and busy again at work.
We have a sitter tonight and are going into the cities for date night which is much needed! I don’t know the last time we’ve had a real intentional date, just the two of us. I’m really looking forward to it.. and trying a new restaurant!

They’re still running tests I guess? They said the blood work looked like early onset appendicitis but they are waiting for the surgeon to give the go ahead for surgery.

Morning. MW appointment late this afternoon other than that should be a quiet day at work. Last night when Layla got home from school she was very upset. She said that she didn't know how to be good, all of the other kids know how to be good, and she's never going to be able to be good. YOWZA I know she is struggling a little bit to be calm during circle time and to lay quietly on her mat during nap, but I don't know where she's getting all of that. I spoke to her teacher this morning, and I certainly don't think that she is telling Layla she's not "good." She is honestly one of the sweetest and most patient women I've ever met, and I think she will eventually be able to help guide Layla into "compliance" without breaking her spirit. This morning, I told Layla to not really worry about being good today, and to try to focus on being kind. Be kind to your teacher by listening to her, be kind to your friends by letting them sleep during naptime. It just really broke my heart last night to hear her sounds so defeated.... at 4! We've dealt with this from Atticus, too, and I'm also not sure where it comes from. We remind him to be a good listener and be kind at drop-off. At night before bed, we do ten little pigs (or monkeys, mogwais, whatever he wants us to say that day) with each of his fingers and try to use it to give reassurance and reinforce things we want him to do. Like if he says he's nervous about meeting new kids one of things we'll say is, "this little pig is good at making friends," etc. "Thus little pig is a good listener, this little pig is working hard at learning sight words" that kind of thing. And we have asked him to tell his teacher if he's having a hard time by saying "I'm sad/frustrated/feeling hyper/ and I need help to make good choices right now." It does seem to be working well. Poor kids, so much pressure!

sands42 have you ever had moo shu chicken or moo shu pork? It's like super thin pancakes that you put the pork/chicken concoction in but you usually put the hoisin sauce on the pancake before rolling it up. It's sort of sweet and not spicy.

nam2013 I like Minimalist Baker (that one is a vegan blog) and Sinnytaste has a lot of great recipes. Last night I made her Greek inspired bowls (and left out the feta) and this morning I made her breakfast summer quinoa and breakfast oatmeal cookies. You're still doing WW, right? She provides the points for all recipes. I remember that I used to love her Beef Barbacoa recipe, too.

This is what I'm thinking, too. We had these circumstances to an extent last fall when we moved and H was gone for a month; B wasn't getting upset at school but he was definitely more subdued, a bit clingy at drop-off, etc. I remember at the Fall conference his teacher was like, "He seems really quiet". He isn't, but I think that was how he processed everything. Big hugs to you guys, sands42 . you're doing the best you can. I hope G settles in soon and/or a spot opens up for him elsewhere. Maybe your family visiting this week (?) will be good for him, too.
