I could see this happening in our neighborhood. One woman gets called on repeatedly for the most random shit. She's always posting on Nextdoor about it. Someone called and complained that she was running a business out of her home...she isn't, she refurbishes furniture that is then taken to Port Aransas for the charities providing furniture to those effected by hurricanes. We all know that everything she is doing is donation based and not an actual money making business, but damn if someone doens't keep calling on her. They even complained about furniture in her driveway...it was being picked up to be taken, like, get a grip! That's so odd. Is it illegal to run a business out of your home in your area? I mean, as long as it's not a retail store with people parking in my driveway or something, I really don't care if my neighbor works from home, does something in their garage, etc. And I am pretty picky about stuff like that, lol. I think it is to a certain extent, like it has to make a certain amount of money to be considered an actual business. This woman makes no money, though. We all think it is one particular neighbor who is calling on her. She's been called on about her fence because it's a front yard fence, which technically isn't allowed, but since it is only a 3 foot wire fence, it's fine. She has a miniature pony that she lets people come and visit, she's been called on that before. Basically anything she does, she gets called on. It's a waste of everyone's time. if the neighbor has such a problem with her, then they should straight up talk to her, not hide behind anonymous calls.

I think it is unless you have the proper zoning/permits. I'm sure this varies by city though. Yeah, I guess that's probably the case. I tend to think of home-based businesses like what my dad does (essentially a desk and computer in the bonus room) but I can see where a contracting business or something like that, with work trucks, etc., would be undesirable and against zoning.

Anyone else see this? Mom shamed for daughter's dog-walking What do y'all think? I guess it depends on the neighborhood and kid, but darn, if the police and CPS show up b/c I let my 8 y.o. walk the dog on our street, I'm going to have a few choice words. I saw it. I have no knowledge of this neighbourhood, but in my book most 8yo should be perfectly capable of walking the dog for a block, given the area is safe. This is where I am. Assuming it's a decent neighborhood and the kid is old enough to understand "don't talk/go off with strangers", etc., it should be fine. I mean, I see plenty of young kids here in our current area, as well as our last extremely suburban neighborhood, walking to the bus stop or out playing without issue.

Tgif! I went to barre3 this am at 5:45, woof. It's move in day so everyone is supposed to stay away from campus, but I'm here since I had to drive the kids here. I may run down to do some returns at lunchtime since it's a perfect gorgeous day to take a walk.
Mh is in a mood and I want to tell him to just not come home until he's out of it...not sure how that'd go over though. I just was stupid and went on a bst website and found a ton of Carter's jammies for super cheap for j.. considering j had basically a belly shirt on last night, it was needed at least..

Of course it did wineallthetime I agree. BEER fridge! Ouch vino! Poor guy!! So if you don’t follow my Instagram.... Gunner cries every day at preschool drop off. And it’s required to use the drop off line so I can’t even walk him in. 😞 He’s always happy when i pick him up and says he had fun and won’t cry tomorrow. 🤷🏼♀️ The only time he walked right in is when MH promised to buy him a game after school.... and obviously we can’t do that every day.

cagoldi barre3 is just a specific Barre studio. We have pure Barre, barre3 and another one I haven't tried. Barre3 is my favorite, it's clear what you are supposed to do and can be challenging. For pure Barre I'm always unsure if I'm doing it correctly bc they target some random tiny muscle in your core. I like the vibe at barre3 better..they have an online program that I used to use as well for fairly cheap. Ftr, I use Classpass (a studio subscription service) I don't pay full price for all these classes, they can be so pricey individually at each studio!

Thanks.
We have a Pure Barre around the corner but the classes don't start early enough in the morning or go late enough at night and they have no childcare so that's not something I've been able to check out yet.

Looks like a certain person in the neighbourhood needs a hobby. Annoying to say the least. I agree with mwhip that a simple conversation could have 'prevented' this or maybe even chat with your neighbours and find out who they are before you start calling CPS/police. There is a coworker here that went to Vancouver for vacation with his family, and allowed his 10yo and 13yo to have a day of adventure on their own. They were in the same, say portion of the city, but allowed them the freedom to do what they wanted. At first I was judgey and then thought, clearly he knows his kids would handle it as he is a responsible adult so I now think it's neat and what a great sense of freedom and trust for the kids.

I think they do have free classes to try out if a time ever works, I have trouble going and normally only go on weekend mornings since MH likes to run before work (he was annoyed today🙄). Barre3 does have childcare, which is a huge bonus and kids seem happy at the studios I've been to. Genius of them to offer it, more studios should if they target women...

Morning! I had to get a print of Colin doing something fun this summer for his new class (::sob: so I decided to order a few other prints of the boys for home and to update the double frame at my desk at work. The pictures currently in that frame are from summer vacation. In 2016. Whoops. I think I'm going to take the boys to the beach a few towns over tomorrow and have my parents meet up with us. They seem intent on this whole moving to FL thing, so I'm trying to give them as much time with the kids as they want. DH is going to be helping his Dad with the murphy bed so my only concern is getting our stuff from the car to the beach without losing a kid or two. Other than that, we have errands to run on Sunday morning so I'll probably try to get them to the park later, and we're probably going to Stepping Stones on Monday. After so much time together on vacation, I've missed them during the day at work this week!!

Good morning I have tons of thoughts based on the conversation, lets see if I can remember them all 1) mskatiep good luck today! Super exciting! 2) vino poor kiddo! Hope he heals up quickly, and hope J doesn't get sick! 3) wineallthetime vote # 827 for a beer fridge. Ours is in the garage and is half beer, half a mix of water and juice boxes. S loves to go get drinks for people when we are outside. 4) My friend lets her 8 and 10 year old walk the dog alone - they go right across their dead end street to a little woodsy area and back. I'm team know your kid and what they are responsible enough for 5)MH runs a pretty decent size business out of our home but never has anyone in and out. He does get tons of deliveries - sometimes a pallet worth, and often has rental trucks in our driveway to take to a job site. I never even thought that could be a problem. Hmmmm now I wonder if our neighbors hate us!

This crap annoys me so much. For the record I've let my 6 yo walk the dog around the loop in front of our old house (best I can describe it's kind of like a cul-de-sac with a park in the middle and she goes around the perimeter) so that shows what side I'm on. Unless a kid is clearly way too young and demonstrates that by their behavior (darting out in front of traffic, showing signs of being afraid to be alone, etc) there's no way I'm calling the cops on a solo kid who otherwise looks well cared for.

Did you see that the caller called again after the cops left? Police did not press charges, but that wasn't enough to satisfy the anonymous caller, who decided to call DCFS after the officers left, Widen told CBS Chicago affiliate WBBM.

I could still hear him crying down the hallway after I dropped M off at her class. I'll just be over here waiting for that call from daycare again...
