And yes, Park parties are the worst. You can’t expect people to eat and drink and not have access to any bathrooms.

Dh is pissing me off. He left yesterday morning to go run a road race today. It was at 9am on the Cape so he stayed at his parents. This means I’ve been solo all weekend. He gets home while C is napping, makes a mess and does nothing but complain about how much he hurts and then says he can’t take C out to play while I grocery shop because it hurts too much. This is why I told you to either 1) don’t do it or 2) freaking train! You’re not 20 anymore and you can just run a 10k after not running for a year!

Now I’m hangry and waiting for them to get it together so we can go to Chili’s. I’m very happy to be going on a work trip tomorrow.

Now C doesn’t want to go out to eat so I hopped in the car solo and am picking up chowder and clam cakes. Screw them. I’m getting what I want.

vino that’s crazy that the adults basically told him to go figure it out. I would never plan a party at a park without a bathroom.

I got home from work and then took a 2 hour nap. Of course this means I won’t be able to fall asleep till late tonight, but oh well it was worth it. I told DH he has to figure out supper because I always have to cook and plan meals. That led to him avoiding it until I yelled at him. He ran to the store for lettuce and is going to make tacos.

Hi, from the plane. I’m trying to decide whether to take H to urgent care or wait for the pedi tomorrow. His cough sounds kind of barky but it’s not horrible. I read laryngitis can cause a barky cough too so it’s possible it’s that.

How does he go from perfectly fine yesterday to this?

tgrimes he probably caught something on the initial flight. Poor guy. Does he have a fever? I would do urgent care if he had a fever, otherwise I would wait until tomorrow.

None of my kids have ever had croup before. I googled what it sounds like and it kind of sounds barky but not too bad. He’s definitely hoarse today. It does sound like he’s struggling to breathe a bit but not all the time.

Is there even anything they could do for it if it was croup?

No fever. Thankfully.

tgrimes if croup gets bad they struggle to breathe and often resolve if either are steamed or get cool fresh air.. j had both, one time he caught his breathe on the drive to the ER with the windows down, another was with steam in the shower. The freezer is another trick. If super bad they will do steroids.

For us it's come on super suddenly in the middle of the night, so fingers crossed this is just a hoarse cough and not croup. Get home safely..I'd prob wait for tomorrow unless he gets worse.

vino I’m so like wtf to the party hosts and the adult who told him to go figure it out alone. I would never in my life do that to a 4yo who came to me for help. It has me a bit ragey.

tgrimes Is he still on Zyrtec? If so, I guess it’s not helping him much. Poor kiddo. I hate there isn’t anything else OTC we can do when they are miserable with a cold.

It’s been a long ass day. I’m hiding out in my bathroom just to have some peace and quiet for a bit. I really hope these kiddos cooperate for bedtime in a few. I could use a hour before I have to go to bed to zone out to my shows tonight.

If there’s a wheeze they would probably do steroids and/or a nebulizer or inhaler. When C had it they had us use his inhaler or a bit but it wasn’t bad enough to need steroids. I think kim22 said her kids had it and needed steroids before.

Either way what tallb wrote is correct- cool air can help a lot.

MH flight is on a 2hr delay so we couldn't meet him at the airport. We are pretty sad but E needs some sleep.
We spent most of the weekend playing outside with the neighbor boys. They are putting the house on the market this month so we get to look forward to another military family moving in for 3yrs to get attached to. I just hope they aren't like the rude Texans up the street.

My stomach has been killing me tonight. I didn’t eat much of dinner because of it. I hope this resolved before my trip tomorrow. At least it’s a quick flight.

Beach party was fun but Miss P was not impressed with the sand or water. Girl after my own heart. She's been on a nap strike all day unless she's in the Ergo.

I took a nap when we got home so of course the living room looks catastrophic since Pete was watching all three kids.

Once I finally wrestle P to sleep I need to tackle two BBM workouts and figure out what I'm going to do with Pete out of town all week.

Also, we just got home from the wedding and it was fun but crazy.

We met dapostrophe and her family this morning and they were great! The kids all played and had fun, and I got to snuggle baby Bea!!!

tgrimes No experience with croup but I'd probably set up the humidifier and do a steamy shower, then a little Vick's and hope he could sleep somewhat comfortably then see where you're at in the morning.
