E was up and wide awake at 3:45. I finally got him back asleep at 5 only for my H to accidentally wake him at 5:30. And of course it’s my day alone with the boys all day.
On the plus, I have an eye appointment later. I’m going to get new glasses. I’m so excited because I’ve had the same frames for the last 10 years.
What’s everyone up to today?

The big kids are up. DD1 wouldn't go to sleep last night. She was still babbling at 1130pm when I fell asleep. DS and I also have eye appointments today. Which means I get to put in a new zenni order tonight!

Hello! Just a normal work day here. I’m doing the late shift so 9-6.
Question for working and BFing/pumping moms- do you have to punch out while you pump at work?

Hi guys! Nothing exciting here except I'm having a two day week BabyWaffle was up chatting at 4.30, the rolling around and crying because she couldn't find her dummy (under her) at 5.30 and finally up for real at 6.30 Of course now that she's in her room, it means going up one floor to give her the dummy back... She's generously shared her germs with us too, I'm all potato nosed and H's throat is sore. Hopefully we'll all be over it by Thursday as we're flying to Scotland.

Happy Monday, all Hope you guys had a nice weekend. N's stuffy nose is pretty much cleared up, but I caught it (again). Saturday I didn't get much chance to rest, but H took N yesterday morning so I could go back to sleep after I pumped. We both thought it would be an hour or so - nope, slept for nearly three. Clearly I needed it. Last week of work before I'm off for a week!

pootsen - I pump in my office so I can work while doing it. I pump 3x a day here. First pump is right when I get in, and I spend most of that time checking emails and getting set for the day. Second pump is technically during my lunch break. Third is around 4pm and I do whatever is on my list that doesn't involve me getting up or making calls ETA: When I work from home, I either bring my laptop to the bedroom or just make the time up later in the day. (Usually the former but it's not holding a charge as well as it used to.)

When I was pumping I did not clock out. But I’m salaried so that’s different. Things are a lot more complicated. I had to pump during already scheduled breaks or someone needed to cover my class, which was difficult.

Before I even had a chance to make my coffee, this kid was in the bathroom, trying to break into the laundry room (we have it gated), and ousting one of the cats from a laundry basket. He's a fast potato now. And I'm in trouble lol.
Dh had his vasectomy consult today. We just have to wait to hear from the insurance company about cost. Then we can get it scheduled. Yay! They don't want him lifting more than 10 lbs for a few days and he's an unpleasant patient but it's well worth it. I just hope it's not ridiculously expensive.

This is how my Monday is starting. Iced coffee, timbits for the kids and the splash park. It’s a bazillion degrees again so whatever it takes to stay cool.

How long were your breaks? Ours were only 15 minutes. I’ve never pumped but I can’t imagine you needing only that time.

I pumped for 30 minutes but I pumped before the kids arrived, when they had snack before their special (I had a student with an aid who watched my class), my lunch break, and right after school. It was extremely difficult to get my work done because all my free time was filled pumping. I’m glad to not worry about that this year.

sarahandben108 that does sound tough. I’m just a little upset because after I came back from Mat leave (with ds1 and ds2) I discussed my pumping plan with my bosses and they always told me to pump whenever I needed and that I didn’t have to punch out. Well now one of my coworkers complained to HR and now we have to punch out if we take longer than 2 15 min breaks. It’s impossible to pump (for me) with set up and clean up in 15 mins so I’m going to see if I can work while I pump so I don’t have to punch out.

First off, the coworker who complained is an asshole and I hope he/she never goes out for compensated smoke breaks. That being said, unfortunately WI doesn’t require employers to compensate you during pumping times but they do need to allow you the breaks to pump. They also need to provide a private room with a table and chair- so if you don’t have that accommodation I’d raise hell since you now have to clock out. When I was a staff nurse in the hospital I did not clock out to pump and now I pump at my desk but I’m also salaried so it’s different. Here is what I would ask HR- if your first pump is 30min (so combine your 2-15min breaks) and then pump during lunch would you be able to not clock out? Also- if the office closes at a certain time and you are 30min short are you allowed/expected to stay and meet all of your hours? I’m incredibly angry for you, your coworker sucks!

We had a great time up north and then the concert last night was great! Unfortunately they had sold out of the French onion soup on a stick so I guess I’ll just have to try it next year!! I’m off of work and the kiddos are at daycare so I’m hoping to be equal parts productive and lazy- so far the lazy is winning 😂

Hi, all! I'm at work, as per. We have our biyearly accreditation inspection today so the lab is in a frenzy. Just hoping to avoid being asked questions, lol.
I am leaving early for a dentist appt though, so that is nice. Today is a pretty chill day.

Not any more than I would otherwise for my breaks. I get 2 30- minute breaks (well, technically state law dictates we get one 30 minute break that we punch out for and then 2 15s. But everyone here takes 2 30s, one clocked out and one not). But I have stopped pumping on my breaks anyway, lol. Today is the first day i wore a real, non nursing bra to work! Huzzah for my boobs! They look nice today.

grumpycat I have a fast potato here, too. She gets a lot of mum mums because sometimes it is the only thing that keeps her sitting still while I do things. 😂

jules1614 I typically pump 3 times a day- in the around 9am, during my lunch break, and then again around 3. I was thinking about cutting a pump anyway so I could just combine the 2 15 min breaks and pump during lunch but I want that to be my decision, not HR’s. I will probably just work while pumping. I’m not a fan of my pumping bra but I’ve broken it back out. We have to pump in a provider’s office who isn’t in that day- the door locks and there’s a computer in there that I can work on. It’s just a pain because most doctors lock their computers so I have to restart it. I’m just really pissed off and hurt. I would never complain about someone else pumping, even if they took more/longer breaks than I do. No, I don’t think that I’m entitled to get paid to pump, but c’mon. It’s only 30 mins a day. I could stay extra to make up that time but now that we have hr lunches our shifts are already 9 hours. I barely get to see my kids during the week as it is. And I could use PTO to make up my hours but that would burn up 4 out of the 6 hours of PTO I earn every pay period. I need to save that in case I or my kids get sick, because we do not have sick time.

Also jules1614 I’m sorry you didn’t get the French onion soup on the stick! I’m not surprised that they sold out- the line was super long! My friend got it and she said it was amazing.

pootsen I had a coworker who was a total jerk about my pumping with my first. She would make all these snide comments and act like I was taking advantage of another teacher who covered my classroom. It got bad enough I went to my principal to complain and sent her an email that said I would be pumping for a year, it was my right, it was none of her business, and I had full support from our principal. She later apologized but it was definitely a sorry not sorry type of apology. Some people are just jerks.

Hi guys. This weekend was really hard. On Friday we received the shocking, devastating news that my mom has stage 4 breast cancer (meaning that it has spread to other parts of her body). She's my absolute best friend. We do everything together. She does SO much for our family. She lives with us. Her and Gianna (my 3yo) are best buds. Gianna couldn't stop asking where grandma was when she had to stay at the hospital Friday-Saturday and was SO excited to see her when we brought her home. I'm trying very hard to be hopeful. But I'm truly feeling overcome with grief and anxiety. My pumping output has dropped a ton. It's hard to eat. I just don't know how to survive without her. The only thing holding me together right now is my family and my sweet girls smiling faces. I've requested to go part time at work. I have no idea if they're going to let me or not. I have no idea who is going to watch our girls if I can't. My mom was going to be with them 3.5 days week and putting 3 children in childcare would be a HUGE cost for us. More importantly I need and want to be available to care for my mom. We do have a big immediate family so I think we could always figure out someone to take her to appointments and such, but I want to be the one to do it. I need to be there for her and not sitting at a desk every single day doing meaningless accounting work. I know we're going to fight this and we think the plan will probably be surgery, chemo, and radiation, but we still have to meet with the oncologist this week. Anyways. If you pray, please pray for us. If not, send positive vibes. I need my girls to get to know her a bit longer, we're not ready for her to leave us.

I've never heard of them, but I just saw my brother this weekend who does some modeling/acting and he was giving us the updates on his life and he recently booked a job with Zenni and he's on their website!

Hello! Just a normal work day here. I’m doing the late shift so 9-6. Question for working and BFing/pumping moms- do you have to punch out while you pump at work? I don't, but we don't clock in and out at work. I pump at 8, 11:30(lunch), and 2:30. People here definitely take breaks and walk around the offices (it's a large office, buildings A-Z) anyways so I'm not really taking a whole lot extra break time than other people do, especially on days I'm able to pump in my office.
ETA: Your coworker is a jerk. What does it matter to them??
