Morning! MH and I are taking turns at the DMV today to get new licenses. He's there now, and there are already 40 people deep in line when he arrived almost 30 minutes before they even opened. This does not bode well for my turn.

Someone secretly switched C with this other baby that doesn’t sleep. I’m too old for this. I need to shower then I’m going to BJ’s, picking up DD’s friend, then T’s friend is coming over. I should pick up my house because none of them have ever been here but currently, I can’t move. What’s everyone else up to?

This does not bode well for my turn. DMV is the worst! When we moved to HI they had a system where you could make an online appt. That way I was able to show up at my appt time and go right to the front of the line! I thought that was a great way to streamline it.

I have even heard that some of the Connecticut ones are this way, but this one (without appointments) is the closest and it still half hour away. The others are over an hour. MH been texting me and telling me that things are going quickly but it's a lot of different lines to navigate.

Morning! Just finishing up a quiet breakfast since the kids are still gone. They come back to tonight, hopefully before I golf so i can see them. I miss them! H has apparently been doing really well with potty training so that’s great.
We tackled zero of the to do list I wanted to start on while they were gone. I think we have a low key weekend coming up so hopefully we can get a lot done.

Not related: did I tell you guys how much I really love Aldi. Their prices are phenomenal and I get really good produce, cheese, and cured meats there. They don't sell wine, but they did have some good beers and different kinds of ciders. I'm so used to buying brand name so it took me a while to navigate the aisles (also there are only four aisles -- is that typical ?), I was able to find an alternative to almost everything I usually buy, though.

Our DMV has online check in, so you are "in line" and they text you updates on timing. I typically check in and go to the bar next door.

Morning! guster I went to get my car inspected yesterday on my lunch and it took 1.5 hours. I hate when I wait till the end of the month! Today MH are both off. We put B in day care and are taking S on a train ride into NYC to go to the natural history museum. He is so excited! I can’t believe this is his first trip to the city!

Morning!
We had a good dinner last night and then went to a rooftop bar overlooking the harbor. It was a nice evening and great having a break from the kiddos. They have both been going non-stop this week and frankly are kind of exhausting, lol.
DH flies home this evening so my parents volunteered to keep the kids while I drive him to the airport an hour and a half away. Not sure what is on the agenda for this morning.

Last day of beaching over here & enjoying it. It is so nice to be able to walk to the beach in less than five minutes! And it being a beach that is basically private helps too . We got some pizza in town this morning, looking forward to it.

Morning.
Just on the good ol’ public transit going to work, sometimes I wonder how we all get out of the house in time; it’s an art, really.
MH starts his 10 month ‘posting’ to the language school today to become bilingual so he was spouting off random French words this morning, the kids thought it was funny but absolutely died laughing when he started on the fruits and said pamplemousse. Too cute.

guster do you find yourself having to go to other stores to get everything you need? We have a relatively new Aldi here and I’ve only been a couple times. I thought about going yesterday since i didn’t have kids with me but ended up at the regular grocery store instead because I didn’t want to make 2 stops. Curious what my $150 bill would have been at Aldi. I do like getting cheese there!

tgrimes I hope H feels better today! guster I always go to the DMV in the county to the south of us, it's much less populated and I wait maybe 20 minutes. If I went in the county I lived in, I'd wait hours. To renew license, we don't have the ability to check in online, but if you're renewing your tags, then you can check in online and they will send you a text when you are 15 minutes from being the next person, then when you are the next person in line. And yes, the Aldi's here are typically pretty small, since they only have 1 brand of every item instead of multiples like the big chains. I like that I can get in and our faster, but man, if you miss something, navigating back through the people is bad. We went late Saturday evening so it wasn't too busy, and I spent so much less than I would have regularly, which makes dealing with the people totally worth it. We leave for vacation Thursday, so I'm kind of stressed trying to get everything taken care of for work and at home. Even though I've already decided I'm taking my laptop so I can answer emails once a day, because I do not want to come back to hundreds of emails and be bombarded by people when I return next week. Just get me to the boat and vodka!

Curious what my $150 bill would have been at Aldi. I do like getting cheese there! I go to two stores. I use Aldi for the staples, breads, milk, eggs, chips, etc. Lunchmeat, chicken, veggies, I get at another store. If it's just me and Evie, I will only go to the one store I can get everything at, spending more. If I can go by myself, or have H with me to wrangle E, then I'll do both, to save $$.

I need to Aldi more. My sister gifted us with a grocery store delivery service when A was born, so I've just been doing that because it's so easy! My shopper is actually shopping for me now while I drink tea and watch the bachelorette.

I've been probably four or five times so far, and I have trouble getting some of the gluten-free things we eat (Udi's bread, cauliflower pizza crust, sweet potato fries, riced cauliflower, carrots and butternut squash noodles) and they don't have individual containers of plain Greek yogurt or a deli for cold cuts. I've noticed also that the proteins change from week to week. There's not always salmon or ground turkey, so sometimes I have to pick those up at a different store.

My little town has a grocery store called the IGA. It's insanely overpriced, but sometimes it's easier to run to something two minutes away. It feels so much like the kind of grocery store you go to when you're renting a beach house. It has hats and T-shirts for sale with our town name on it and the aisles make no sense because they're trying to cram everything into a little space. They do have a kick ass deli counter, though m and they make delicious bacon egg and cheese sandwiches.

Or he way get posted to another base, who knows. We kind of live year by year...well he does since mine and the kids life stays relatively the same.
