I think I mentioned this on the old board, but I started a fitness class. They do a 10-week jump start. 3 days of cardio and 3 days of weight training, plus calorie and Marco tracking via MFP. We are at the end of week 8 and I hit my weight goal (12 pounds). I would still like to lose more body fat though. My overall BF% hasn't moved that much (1.5-2%). I'm going to try to up my protein a bit and more strength training. I plan to continue the program after the 10 weeks and really focus on reducing BF% regardless of the number on the scale. I'm a bit more "fluffy" than where I want to be. Any tips or tricks on reducing body fat? Weight training will help albeit slowly. Good for you though, this sounds like am awesome program. Actually weight training is one of the most helpful ways to drop BF% as increase in muscle mass increases your metabolic needs. If you maintain your intake and your metabolic requirements are higher, that will lead to fat loss. The scale may go up, but the BF% will be down. Slowly may be accurate as it pertains to weight loss, but not for fat loss.

TBH the only downside to all the weight training I've done over the years is that I can't fit my arms into most women's shirts.

Yes! Will you just update the title to include other food/calorie tracking programs? A lot of our participants are doing other tracking programs. Thanks! It took a while because work was crazy but I changed the title! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I weighed in this morning and I broke through the plateau! I lost .6 lbs and I'm happy with that given how I eat when I'm on my period.

I snacked & drank lots of wine last night. But I'm not letting it derail me. I ate well & went to the gym today. I was a little hung over so I just walked on the treadmill. But my eating habits have been good today. We're going to a party this evening so I'm going to try to not eat all the things!

1.2 lb loss at weigh in this morning!! Total of 34lbs, but 25.8 since I started weight watchers. So I got my 25lb charm. When I started, I never thought I'd get there. Next one is the 50lb one.

I hope it is okay that I jump in here. I am in a bit of a slump right now and know I need to get back on track. I haven't weighed myself in a few weeks, but I have an appointment coming up where I know I will likely see a number I don't like. It is time to get serious. I had surgery a couple weeks back and the recovery has been slower than I would like, but I am hoping to get in a couple walks and stretching sessions this weekend. I am trying get back on-track with eating. I don't track with WW, but I am hoping if I stick to whole, unprocessed foods that I will see some positive changes. Tracking tends to get me overly obsessive and I am trying to avoid that this time. My biggest weakness is my time at the office. They provide a buffet of snacks and sweets as a perk, and when the afternoons get stressful I tend to indulge more than I should. Thanks everyone for sharing your progress—reading through is truly inspiring! If tracking actual numbers is too much, is a food log (just written or in Excel, but no numbers) something you might be interested in? That might be an option. Tracking is a good way to help break a mindless snacking habit- I have to log my snacks before I eat them. It makes me more aware and I have to think if it is really worth it to shove a handful of M&Ms in my mouth. Obviously is tracking sets off an obsessive spiral, then that's not a good option in your case, but just a log of the food choices and having to stop and think first might help. I tend to get too obsessive about tracking as well, trippyalien . I don't know if you'd be interested but I've really liked 21 Day Fix, that's the one where you get a set amount of containers per day and each container represents a food group (fruits, veggies, protein, carbs, etc). There are a couple things I don't 100% agree with/like about their method but I've found it to be a good middle ground for me. I feel like it's taught me to be more aware of the type of food and portion sizes that I eat without making me obsess over it. They take calories and a rough macro count into account with their program which I appreciate. ETA- I am not a Beachbody rep, totally not trying to sell anything here.

I'm not doing WW but hope you'll still have me. I appreciate the support and knowledge a thread like this offers.
I started exercising regularly about 18 months ago and got more serious about my nutrition and eating habits this past October. I've lost about 15 pounds in that time and about 2 dress sizes. I've been struggling with motivation these past few months despite participating (or trying to participate) in some Facebook accountability groups. I'm currently at my lowest adult weight and I've maintained it for 6+ months which I'm really proud of. Ultimately I'd like to lose about 10 more pounds of body fat and reassess at that point. I think I'm having a slight mental block with getting past this point and need a kick in the pants.

Driving home from Florida. I have been really bad today. I will get back on track tomorrow! Both with eating and exercise. I only ran once on vacation but I did my 30 day full body tone work out all but one day and I won't get to do today either.

Almost done with my first week of WW. I think it really works for me mentally. I have been obsessive about looking up points this week but I assume after a few weeks that I will get used to what I should eat and spend less time figuring out what I can eat. Breakfast is hard! Trying to find something other than a muffin or scone because those are my weakness. I read a bit in the I other board about how some of you are using your weekly points and saved then for pizza with the family last night. MH also liked the meals I have planned for the weekend. He is a but concerned about having enough to eat. He was even sweet and didn't put anything more than I handed him into dinner tonight even though it was supposed to have black beans and I was busy with the kid and forgot to give it to him.

I'm so close to my first 10 lbs gone. I was thinking of blowing my budget today but reading your posts got me excited again and I'm just going to snack on hummus and veggies and a leeeeetle dark chocolate instead of the dumb popcorn I thought I wanted. It helps that MH burned his and it stinks lol.

I don't look things up as much anymore, but those on the ww app love getting the "blue dots". I do better when I did write everything down. I can't get the app on my phone though, so I have to use the website

Can anyone tell me how to use fit points if I don't have a tracker? I just do classes. In the WW app, hit the plus sign. Select activity (little feet) and you can add what you did. They have suggestions like zumba, walking, circuit training. Then you add time and intensity.

Saturday was a little party for DS since my sister and BIL and both my parents will be away for his real birthday next week. Hamburgers, hot dogs, pasta, and chocolate cake. I don't think I remembered to track everything but I'm not going to bother to fix it because I already know I went way over and I'm just going to call it a bad day and move on! A few glasses of wine after DS went to bed did not help... Tomorrow is another week, so I'm looking forward to getting back on track. I do find when I have this big meals and use too many points that I may be overindulging, but I am eating much less than I would have 6 months ago. One hotdog, a serving of pasta, and a piece of cake is probably literally half what I would have done in the past.

I have found thatbsince I started counting calories I seem to make better choices overall. Even when I do have a "bad" day it's not as bad as they used to be.

Good morning! I've been terrible this weekend. I'm acknowledging my bad eating and moving forward. I hate that I'm an emotional eater, especially when I'm stressed. It drives me insane, I know I don't need to eat the second ice cream bar but I do it anyways. I leave to visit my parents for a month and I hope the change of scenery and extra help with the toddler will relieve some stress and I can get back into a good head space.
If anyone is interested check out the Nike training app. It's free and has a Leiden variety of workouts offered. My dad introduced it to me and he's been very happy with it. I have yet to try it but plan to workout with my dad while I'm visiting.

Weekends away from home are the toughest. I brought snacks, but meals were a huge hit to my caloric intake. I managed to run on Sunday and Monday morning though, so I'm hoping that helped a bit. Back to the grind today!

No one machine if going to do everything, and really free weights/dumbbells are better if you aren't trying to isolate a specific group but just want to add over all strength. For example- if you are doing leg extensions, you are working your quads and really nothing else. That's what the machine is intended to do- isolate one muscle group. If you instead do lunges, you will still get your quads, but you will also get your calves, hamstrings, glutes, lower back, and abs. And just randomly machine hopping usually doesn't do a whole lot- have a plan, don't just wander. Bodybuilding.com has a video for every possible lift you could think of. As far as programming, there are all kinds of them out there. Everyone will have a preference as to what type of program they do. As far as starting off, if you haven't lifted before, body weight exercises are a good place to start. This is a decent starting point. It doesn't require any equipment other than something with some weight to do some rows.
