I was just at the grocery store and stumbled upon some cheeses that were infused w wine! They had samples out so I was trying everything. Then the grocer saw me perusing more blocks and offered to open some and cut more samples for me. Who was I to turn her down?? I may or may not have just spent $20 on cheese (some is for my dad! Fathers Day and all)

Afternoon. N has to stay home bc her fever came back yesterday afternoon (despite 5 doses of cefedirin)..the doc had us come in after hours and her ears are improving, so maybe another virus causing fever. She's totally adorable today minus the pooping everytime I lay her down to play. I am enjoying one on one time with her at least. And I did 7 loads of laundry by 9am! I probably should do some actual work now though.
Is the news triggery to anyone? The fire in London is haunting me with people being stuck inside, especially kids. And the shooting was around the corner from my boss's house (where I was Friday). Thankfully her kids were already at school.

They also had Port one (did not like) and one that was called "red-wine" but didn't say what type.

I am also feeling sad about the college student that was just released from N Korea. I mean glad that he was released, but who knows what sort of condition he is going to be in after this coma?

yummeecookee forgot about that! Ugh, I forget half the stuff I read during MOTN feedings. That poor kid. I like how they made it sound like a successful release and failed to mention he's been in a come for 15 months..

I'm having issues with diverticulitis. I know I should start taking my probiotics regularly (and eating better and drinking more water). But first I need to get things "moving" better in me so I'm taking some miralax. Should I wait to start back on the probiotics or is it ok to take them and miralax together? I just don't know if they would sort of work against each other or not. If I'm not feeling better tomorrow I will probably go to the dr and get antibiotics. But she will likely want to do a CT scan to make sure that's what the problem is and I don't really want to hassle with that nor do I have the time. I'm hoping it's mild enough that the miralax will do the trick.

Yes to making friends and keeping friends being hard at this stage. I have a friend since I was 15, she lives in Amsterdam, which is not far, but a hassle with kids. She made a comment last time I saw her, that she didn't like the fact that we meet in the town where I live most off the time... This was after I told her I was struggling and had a hard time just leaving the house in the evening because I was so exhausted I wanted to cry most of the time and I'd have to leave the kids which made me extremely anxious. Plus, mind you, I pay for drinks, or her train ticket every single time and acknowledge the fact that she's doing this for me. So I was a little but hurt and secretly thought 'I'll see how you feel about this when you have kids of your own and try to stay afloat'.
I'm lucky to have two other great and understanding friends. And off course you guys. I'm doing sooooo much better lately, which to no small end, is also thanks to you girls.

Hey guys, thanks for the encouragement. I went to the gym and felt better! vino I'm so sorry your mom said that. Totally uncool and insensitive. This is anecdotal, but I was so lonely the first five years of Landon's life. I had a 5 year old, a three year old and a new baby. It was so hard to meet people and I was exhausted al the time. I blamed our town, I wanted to move so bad. I thought I'd be so much happier if we moved to one of the town where some Of our college friends lived, because I obviously sucked at making new friends. I tried mommy groups and never clicked with anyone. Everything changed when Landon started "real" school. I finally found my group of moms. All our boys are best friends now, we live in the same neighborhood and I can't imagine leaving. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I've been there but I truly think it gets easier when they start school. Light at the end of the tunnel I guess?

Making friends after having kids is the worst thing ever. It's like being on awkward blind date with your child.
"In real life" friends are overrated at this stage, I have developed a strong preference for interacting only with my sister, sister-in-law and my people of the internet (aka you guys). I think that there's totally nothing wrong with this.

vino, I'm on your bench with having a mom that makes insensitive comments to her children. It sucks. Not that you need advice, you don't. Every mother-daughter relationship is different and complicated but when my mom is getting me down, I like to turn to hobbies and interests that she does not share or that she discouraged me from pursuing when I was a child. It gives me a sense of joy and personal exploration and satisfaction. It's always a pick-me-up during these rough times.

The Ray Tensing retrial is maddening to me. I don't think he'll actually get convicted and I think he should be. I have 12 notifications on my facebook a day for the live feeds of the trial and I can't stand to watch it.
