We let DS stay up to watch the game and the see the trophy and he just fell asleep on the recliner. He has done this maybe once in his life. He looks so cute. DD has been doing this lately, because 7pm is too early and 5am is too early, but she really can’t hang.

Because of DS’ growth issues it was a long time before we got the sleep training go ahead. Like we were still waking every 4 hours for a long time Yeah. That was our truth with DS as an infant and then it turned into breathing issues. He’s still barely 7% for weight and height, but sleeps so much better than DD ever did at his age.

I didn't know your pedi had to give the go ahead to sleep train. Oh well. For me, barring any medical issues, I don't want advice on how to feed or put my kid to bed. My pedi doesn't get into parenting stuff which is why I chose him. I realize other parents may be looking for more guidance.

It still sucks to be sidelined. 😭

The wine helped me decide that it was a good idea to make zucchini (a 2’ farmers market zucchini) bread at 10:30pm so I’m up for at least another hour while it bakes. Not really regretting this bc the family will have a yummy breakfast to wake up to tomorrow and it’s too hot to bake during the day.

s/o of pedis Ours is an old Hungarian man. I know Hungarian, but am so rusty. He tries to get me to speak. I google something funny to say in Hungarian while I'm in the waiting room every time. He knows I do it too.

Same, but we still haven't committed to the big snip. I think it's the finality of it and the fact that I just need a little danger in my life. Hugs 💙 After we got the puppy and discovered she was nuts I told MH it was ok because I thrive with a little bit of chaos in my life. Less than a month after that we found out I was pregnant with twins and he was like, I hope you were serious about that chaos. If you don't always feel like the "This is fine." Dog, are you really living?

McBenny - DS has had recurrent pneumonia and they haven’t figured out why, but any prolonged crying makes his O2 sats drop (low 80s to 78ish). He’s 2.5 and I still can’t sleep train. 😭 Thankfully we’ve been able to do more gentle methods and he falls asleep alone from about 8-3am and then cuddles with SO until about 7. This really easy for me routine is also why I haven’t pushed the issue. don't mind me. I didn't sleep train the way its discussed around here. No prolonged crying here either. I. Was doing EASY out the womb.

I’ve never been a huge sleeper, I pretty much average 6ish hours even when they’re not around, but their alternate schedules make that more like 3 hours with a two hour gap and then 3 hours. The broken sleep has nearly broken me. I am just now coming out of the sleepless fog. Neither kid at 2.5 or 4.5 sleep through the night all the time, but it’s become a “needing less of mom”, even though I’m a super light sleeper and wake up regardless.

I don't know much about EASY other than an IRL mom. She complained her baby wanted to sleep after eating & she couldn't keep him awake and he wouldn't eat on her schedule. Of course the baby( 2mo) isn't eating & sleeping according to your timeline? May be she was explaining to me it wrong IDK.

It depends on age of course but at 7 months, DD's sleep cues rule everything. I don't care if she has just eaten or played, if she is rubbing her eyes or screeching, she is attempting a nap. So far so good. So clearly I'm not following any particular method. 😂

I never asked my ped about sleep training my first two, just went ahead and did it. But they were both 6 months old. I tend to use a pretty strict CIO method and I only asked today because I intend to train this baby much earlier and I wanted to make sure it was fine even with her reflux/extreme fussiness issues.

I don't know what EASY even is, but we didn't do formal sleep training, either. It's a loosely designed routine. It stands for eat, activity, sleep, your time. Of course with newborn the activity might only be face time or a diaper change for me. I always just went in that order after a feeding. During the activity you look for sleepy cues and then lay them down to sleep. Basically we can miss that window of sleepy and then move to the overtired place.
Basically you do not feed to sleep.
It just worked for me and I feel cut down on crying cause there was a set routine that the baby gets used to. I did it with DD later on like maybe around 2 months but with DS straight out the womb.

It's more about a routine than a time schedule.

This is what we did too. And I kept a general idea of how long awake times should be. No formal sleep training. I think twice I had to let him cry a little towards the 1 yr Mark. Aside from the swaddle transition and 4mo wakeful they happened at the same time, he was a great sleeper. Usually 7-7. At 4.5 he’s usually 7:30-6:30.
