@gentleapricot, I'm really impressed with your drive and career focus. At your age. As a single mom. But most importantly, as a woman in finance. I'll fangirl you from the sidelines. Thank you. It’s interesting looking back and seeing how every single thing I went through got me to this point. I know we have some God hataz here, but I am just so thankful.

My confession is that I think a twin bed is teh fucking worst and I'll do everything I can to try to give my kids more sleeping space. Yes yes yes yes yes I know space/finances don't always allow this. I'm just saying in my ideal and even baseline scenario, no one is sleeping in a twin bed. Yeah I am now looking for a full. the reason we did the twin is because my mom was giving one a way and I knew the queen wouldn't fit so I took it. I don't know if the full will fit comfortably, but I am going to try

I mostly bought her a trundle bed because I always wanted one. 🤷♀️

We got DS a twin, but now that DD is about to move to a real bed, I think she’ll get the twin and I’ll get DS a queen. He has the bigger room.

I have a probably lame confession. I bought a queen size bed for my 3 yo DD, to replace her crib. It was a really good deal for the bed, and we got a mattress for cheap as well. It will last her for a while at least. BIL feels that it was a bad decision. DD has a queen. We moved and I wasn’t putting her toddler bed back together and DH and I had recently gotten a new bed and still had our old queen mattress so we just gave it to her. I had always said I would get my kids twin beds because growing up I had a full and never could get cool kids sheet/comforters.

Speaking of new jobs, H had 3 rounds of interviews for a new job and found out this week he did not get it. He was pretty bummed, but my confession is...I was sort of mad at him, because this would have been a serious life changing financial move for us. I realize that’s unfair to H and totally irrational, but I’m recovering from mentally spending his signing bonus money already. Oof... this is today’s winner for me. I’m judging you!

BIL? Who gives a fuck what he thinks? Am I reading this right? Yes, BIL. I don’t really care what he thinks about it but it made me second guess my decision. Like, should I have gotten DD a queen bed?? It was a liquidation sale and only $99. Sounds like you got a good deal. We swapped DS's twin for a queen a few years ago and it comes in handy if we're hosting overnight guests (he "camps out" in a sleeping bag in his sister's room). There have also been a couple of nights where he wasn't feeling well and I slept in his bed with him to be close if he needed me, which was more comfortable than having him between DH & me.

Kind of excited that we can lay in it with her and hopefully help her get to sleep quicker (currently she falls asleep with her head in my lap while I sit on the end of her toddler bed.

H has been in job limbo for a couple years now. He's going to have to take a significant pay cut sooner rather than later, but I'm trying to look on the bright side that it hasn't happened yet. Pay cuts are rough. H just took a pay cut since his company shut down, but his new job has potential to make more money than he would have if he stayed in the same industry. So I look at that as the bright side of it.

Even six months ago, I would've never expected HilarityEnsued and @gentleapricot to be thinking about happy hour plans together. It's a Friday Miracle! I think we’re besties now. At least, that’s what my spreadsheet says.

HilarityEnsued my senior year of high school, I slept with my boyfriend on my twin bed. I smashed my face against the wall so many times lol. (please don't be scandalized that my parents allowed this, I was a prude and didn't touch a penis til I was 18 despite it being in my bed)

veganontuesdays I’ve taken one drug test in my life and it was for my dad not even a job. I told the lady I really needed to poop and I guess she either didn’t believe me or didn’t care. She stayed. I pooped. Welp, that's 1 way to prove you're not lyin. And I passed the stupid drug test!

This is probably too much for a Friday morning, but I don't look at it like God lined up these opportunities to bless you in particular in this particular way. What I believe is that God walked with you and helped you see and grasp opportunities at every intersection. God gave you the confidence to move in the direction that fulfills your goals.

My kid got two gold rings for his first birthday, which is a tradition in my culture. I have no idea what to do with them - I guess I’ll put them someplace safe and give them to him when he’s older? I’m pretty sure my mom sold mine at some point since I never saw them. This is my family and pearls. Not a pearl necklace, just individual pearls. You're supposed to make a necklace with them as you collect them over the years, but they are just sitting in storage somewhere. I should really find them and sell them, but I don't think they are worth enough for the effort. I see you and I are in the same family. I get one for myself and one for DD each birthday and Christmas. I have plenty to make a necklace, but, I probably won't. Maybe I'll just have it made for DD.

Sleeping in a twin bed in the dorms in college was the damn worst. I lasted one year then I got my own apartment and a queen bed. I had a king bed through all of middle school and high school, but it was a hand-me-down and wasn't purchased specifically for me. After college I have had only a king bed... so 2004 to this very moment. Trying to sleep with my boyfriend on the twin bunks in college was basically like playing a game of twister while on the edge of a cliff. So uncomfortable.

DS has been in a Queen since 2.5. We upgraded to a King and he was moving out of the crib.
ETA: the only downside (or upside) is most character bedding doesn’t come in Queen. I wouldn’t do a comforter but sheets I would.

Both kids have full size beds. They toss and turn so much I can't imagine them in twin size beds. I had a twin size bed the whole time I lived at my parents house and it was way too small.

I feel like it can't be that uncommon for folks to poop when the take a drug test. Like if you happen to have to poo, are you supposed to hold it in?

Dh and I couldn’t handle the sharing of the twin senior year of college so we got a Queen air mattress. We didn’t live together yet but he spent the night a lot. Two weeks before graduation a seam burst but we didn’t want to replace it so we slept on a big bump.

I’m pretty sure my mom sold mine at some point since I never saw them. DD and DS received the gold rings too. DH is Korean. We have the rings in our safe. Every now and then DD will ask to see hers but that's about it. We plan on giving the rings to them when they're older. Aww that’s cute that she wants to see them. Mine took a bite to make sure they were real.

I do very occasionally post motivational quotes in the Monday thread. SO WHAT. I'll use any trick in the book to keep myself out of the cupboards some nights.
